What type of thread are you using in this project? It looks so smooth and easy to work. I'm still very new to inkle and haven't been getting anything very pricey. I've used mercerized cotton crochet thread (3) which is quite good, but now that my consistency's hit the mark, I'm willing to drop some extra cash for better thread and I'm trying to figure out what's best to get.

Madison, what I recommend is Omega Sinfonia. It is a sport-weight cotton. ~Annie

I'm sure that was helpful for someone, but not me. I would have liked to see what is going on from the side -- and also the loom used.. (Complete beginner here!) I saw one weaver using playing cards to rotate & slide back & forth to create patterns too. Which is better?

Hi. Welcome to the world of inkle weaving! For a beginner, I would recommend these videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKrcZ6aXfc-keZY kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6LHepSCgNicb7c kzbin.info/www/bejne/roGwhqawpMmFfpI What you mention is card weaving, also called tablet weaving. Some people make their own cards with playing cards, but there are also cards manufactured for that purpose. It creates a very different weave structure from inkle weaving. I don't know that either one is better, just different. Card weaving is a bit more complex in technique, but also in structure and pattern variety. Some people dabble in both, but most of us favor one method or the other.

Love your demos and your blog! What is your favorite belt shuttle?
@ASpinnerWeaver7 жыл бұрын
Ellen, I wish I could tell you. Most of my shuttles don't have a brand on them and I can't really say where they came from. It's mostly about how they fit my hand. And, I also admire a shuttle made of hardwood that is finished to be really smooth. I'll try to post a photo on FB and tag you!
