Out of all the pickup/drop pattern weave videos, i found this to be the eureka moment of them all. Not overly technical and pedantic this one just shows you how to do what you came here looking for. Appreciated

In the military they take extremely thick peaces of cloth about 1"x6" and sow your last name on it then so it on your shirts. You can also get it in quarter inch strips for other items. But it's very expensive because it requires expensive machines. I've been wanting to label my entire wardrobe because things keep coming up missing and I think you have just showed me a cost effective way of doing so. Thank you very much!

Thank you! As a harness weaver, I've always been fascinated by Inkle weaving, especially lettering. You have totally de-mystified the process for me. This has sealed the deal for me to learn Inkle weaving!

I tried to do lettering with a 5 pattern Sami heddle. Was hoping that it would work but did not. One day I hope to learn your lettering style. It is so pretty and weaving words can be so meaningful.

As I'm weaving, all goes well until I come to a letter with 4 pics ... at that point the background color and the color of the letter are reversed for the next horizontal bar? ... I'm not sure how to deal with this?

Very good video. I am new to weaving and am just beginning to learn. I was wondering if you would mind sharing what kind of loom that you are using in this video and also wondering if you know of any good dvds or books to help me get started? I would be humbly grateful and thankful for any information you could share to help me get started. Thanks, Keith

I purchased your pattern on Etsy and the set up doesn't not match this video AT ALL. Could/would you possibly make a new video using the warp with the green threads on the side and brown selvages. thank you
@ASpinnerWeaver4 ай бұрын
I'm sorry if this seems confusing to you. The video isn't really about color or what's in the border area. It is meant to demonstrate the process of picking and dropping threads to create the letters.

I understand the concept but i am having trouble with doing the letters such as the D and the I where you start with the one turqoise and then have the browns, could you please explain which ones to pick for the first row of the B?
@ASpinnerWeaver8 жыл бұрын
+Maya Johnson , the B and D both begin with an extra row at top and bottom, otherwise they are hard to read. If you look at the letter chart, you will see that both of these letters are are 4 rows wide and begin by picking up the three turquoise threads at the top and three turquoise threads at the bottom ; all 9 threads in between are brown. The second row of the letter will be all turquoise to make a solid upright bar.

+Annie MacHale Thanks! after futzing around with it , i figured it out earlier today :) but yep that is what i figured out.. I have currently a whole alphabet (minus the W because apparently I don't know my alphabet lol) woven... and am starting another set (just to practice!) Thank you thank you ! I have been wanting to do this for years!

"W" is over rated anyway, just turn your band upside down and pretend the "M" is for both letters. ;-)

hi your way of doing letter it seems very clear and easy...but i dont have this kind of loom..i use a square of wood. and it works also..i weave in a circle...here in the south of Chile this design is called peinecillo...but i have a doubt...do you weave the turquoise color first and then the brown one?
@ASpinnerWeaver Жыл бұрын
Your question is not clear to me. I hope you looked at the blog post which goes with the video. It shows a chart for warping the loom. All turquoise are threaded through heddles and all brown are in the open shed. When you do plain weave, it forms horizontal bars.

@@ASpinnerWeaver hi Annie, thanks for the vídeo! I know how to warp in a inkle loom. My question is how to warp to get this kind of "design( letters)" ...do You begin alternately warping, one turquoise, one Brown till finish? I make this question because when You want to make any( other) design no letters for example, this will depend on how many threads of one colour You put together when You warp... the way we put the threads turns different results! to make letters may be is like in the Mapuche loom, we called "peinecillo" l need to warp one colour, then other different colour alternately till finish...to get 15 of each colour ....and 4 of dark colour at each side.... when You warp in this way You form horizontal bars when you make through heddles or Open shed... these horizontal bars we called "peinecillo" in the Mapuche art. Will it be the way of warping to make letters, Annie?

Does it matter, when changing colours, to pick up or drop off first?
@ASpinnerWeaver11 ай бұрын
It doesn't as long as you get them both done in the same row, the order is not important. I think of it as an exchange of two threads, picking and dropping in pairs. Pick one and drop the one next to it. Does that make sense?
@elizabethbarnett578111 ай бұрын
it does indeed; thanks for the quick response! love this stuff!!! ♥
