Thanks. Yes, definitely do a separate paint splash video, preferably with directional splatters. I can't find anything for Inkscape besides the usual watercolor effects and some randomized star shape magic :) Currently, I'm using vectorized ink splatters, which isn't bad and also works neatly with the pen/custom brush effects. Would be nice to be able to create them from scratch and add some highlights & shadows.

At 1:03 that is such a true statement. I've been making astronomy calendars mostly using Inkscape, and time and time again my thinking needs to be simpler. Usually I end up teaching myself the simplest way of doing something, and then use that piece of knowledge in other designs as well.

BTW here's my graffiti art that I did this afternoon following your tutorial step-by-step: drive.google.com/file/d/1koJ_uDlbOEQzkH_kxV113_ErPVKZ8U6-/view?usp=share_link The only thing I couldn't get to work was the blur. Thanks so much for the video. Brilliant! I love the way you use the tools, very creative. I love using the eraser to create effects, it's underrated 🙂 min 11:04 I recently found a shortcut that makes it very easy to select within a group, with the advantage that you can select pieces from several groups at once, which is great for recoloring CTRL+Click for the first selection and CTRL+SHIFT+click to add selections. The background thing, just wow 💯 By the way, the March challenge of the forum is about Lettering, you can share the link of the tutorial there, it will be a good surprise for sure 😅

I'm trying to start with the letter 'A' with my font designing. Autofill keeps filling up the letter with solid black, and I can't figure out how to turn off the autofill function. Could use some help with that please?
@IronEchoDesign
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
For sure. If you size the way you want the A to look, turn on a Stroke and choose the width you want. Then you can take off the Fill by hitting the X on the Fill and Stroke Menu Fill Tab. Select the A and do Object-to-Path. That will lock in the shape of the A and if you double click on it you can see the nodes and customize it. Hope this helps!

Do you think inkscape lacks a lot of features? As compared to other softwares in the market
@IronEchoDesign
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
It's a good question. Illustrator has many more features (some I really miss) and is the industry standard. Inkscape is improving every year, and adding functionality that will bring its capabilities closer to rival Adobe. The biggest thing to me is Inkscape is open source. Free to us all with no subscription. In the end, it's all what person does with the software - Illustrator, Inkscape, or others- at least until AI takes over all of this. Ha.

IronEcho... I really want you to succeed because you have great content for your tutorials. BUT. I'm complaining again, you are going too fast!!! It comes across as grab this, grab that, do that and if people are new or semi-new (like myself) to Inkscape and not sure where all the buttons are they will get lost. People don't have time to stop and replay several times to capture where you got what. Even slowing down the video is annoying. We would just go to another tutor on YT that takes their time to explain where they are getting what. I'm not saying go super slow, but all your videos that i've seen so far sounds like you are rushing. I have no problems with other people's videos and I am a pretty fast learner, so I know the problem is not me 😀. I'm sure you would get many more likes and good comments if you slow down your pace. Peace.
