Great tutorial. So happy with the quality of details and info you put into this video. Also, thanks for your time and effort to explain how to work around this great plug-in from Inkscape.😉

Another excellent video! 👍 Quick question… when using system fonts and they embroider as a fill, does InkStitch automatically use a lock stitch before and after a jump stitch, like it does with satin? I’m trying to know if I can physically trim the jump stitches (no auto on my machine) and don’t want to create an unraveling mess. Thanks

Wingdings? Convert to? Also, Excellent Video! Just what I needed! Any advice for ordering stitches, so that the next satin stitch does not stitch over a jump stitch?

I did a font from ink stitch (actually several) and it kept stitching the words twice. Which was too much and made it unreadable. Any suggestions

I'm only guessing but it sounds like you might wanted to change the stitch color and added a fill color instead. Select the words in question, go to fill and stroke and make sure fill is none.

I love all of your videos I learned so many things. I am trying to do the applique and I would like to make the satin stitch wider. How do I do that. Thank you
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😁 Depends on how you made the satin stitch. If you auto converted line to satin, just set the line to have a wider width before converting it from the fill and stroke tool bar. If it's already a satin stitch and you want it wider, you can increase the pull comp in parameters which effectively makes it wider.

@@LowTechLinux sorry I feel stupid how do I make it wider
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
@@mimik852 select the satin stitch, go extensions > inkstitch > params. On pull comp, set a number. If you want it .5 mm wider put .5 in that pull comp box. If you want it 1mm wider put a 1 in there.

Hey bud. I just randomly chose one of your videos so probably not on topic, but just a quick question. If I had a design that was already digitized and brought it into inkstitch because I wanted to resize it (hat logo from 4" to 5" wide) is there a way to increase the thread density to fill that larger digitized design? I tried to increase the size and then open params and take the zig zag from .4 to .2, but it didn't do anything. Am I completely off? Or in the ballpark at all? ha.. Or is this not even possible to do?? Thanks again for your help..
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 2 жыл бұрын
The short answer is it's not possible. Inkstitch reads a pre digitized file the same way your machine does, as move and stitch points only. When you resize that you're basically just stretching the move and stitch points.

@@LowTechLinux Ok ok.. That makes sense. Not happy about it, but it makes sense. bahah. alright so just have to completely re digitize it, I assume. Alright well thanks for your help again man. much appreciated..

@@LowTechLinux Hey, do you take orders to digitze?? I'm still learning and just taking to long at the moment, but just hate all these people on FB that hound me when I ask.. ha So if you do let me know and I'd shoot over a design and pay you for it. If not, no problem at all. Just figured I ask..

How come when I add text it jumps letters and does not do the words sequentially

I'm not sure, I suspect when you break apart it sets them in alphabetical order, but haven't tried yet to confirm

I'm not sure if this is the case for you, but the other day I was importing separate .pes files into a project since I realized I can't use .bx files in inkstitch, so when I duplicated letters instead of importing them again, it did them in order of when each item was "created" in the project. You can go to the side panel that shows each object and click on one to highlight it, then click and drag to order it the way you want it to stitch out.

Thankful for this video. In doing an applique, when I converted the top layer into satin, the first 2 running stitch layers quit stitching out even though everything was selected. Any suggestions?

Hmmm. Really not sure what happened. Check the objects list to make sure the under stitch objects are still there. If you're still having trouble send the SVG file to me so I can have a look. dale@lowtechlinux.com

Hello, i have a question, at 18:35 the realistic view shows threads that goes from letter to letter, i assume that that thread goed underneath the fabric but how can i am sure of that? i am doin an embroidered word too and i want to be sure before give the file to the embroidery man. Thank You!
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
In that part of the video it's a fill stitch lettering. Those jump stitches are not underneath. You will need to set a command to trim. Select each letter (can be all of them or one at a time) then do extensions > inkstitch > commands > attach command to selected objects > trim after stitching this object > ok.

so is there no way to have the satin lettering follow a curve?
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
Depends on how much curve. A little curve you can do path > effects, add effect, bend (I think). Some fonts respond better than others

How do you add just one letter inside a box? Inkstitch won't let me.
