What if your purchased font come with different sizes. For example, Arial 3.5 inch, Arial 2.5 inch, Arial 1.5 inch. Break out the sizes and create a folder for each size?

I have followed all the directions. The font shows up in the list of fonts, but when I go to actual use it, it doesn't show up. I'll write a word and it hit apply and close. It says in the layer panel that there is the word I typed. But the page is blank. The eye is open so its not hidden. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

If you would like please send the font SVG to me at dale@lowtechlinux.com and I'll see if I can figure it out. Even better if you can zip that font folder and send that instead.

Thank you for this. I just discovered your YT site and this is very helpful. I do have a question though: Can I add "trims" to my converted font? Thanks!
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
Yes. The way to do a trim on a satin stitch letter is select the last object (top most object of the letter) and apply the trim only to that. Make sure it's the last object stitched for that particular letter.

Awesome videos. Really helping me out. A couple of questions regarding adding pre digitized fonts. To add a bit more space between letters do you just leave a little space before it when placing it on the baseline? Related, if it is a script font, how would overlap the connecting tails? Hope to get a feel for that before I start adding my purchased fonts. Thanks again!
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't actually tested spacing. I usually just move the letters manually to where I need them. I believe on a premade font with the lettering tool, the font is preset to spacing (but you can still move the letters manually).
@kenoguy9592
@kenoguy9592 2 жыл бұрын
@@LowTechLinux Thanks for the response. I did go ahead and try some fonts. It looks like moving them on the baseline has no effect. The fonts I got didn’t include any kerning info. It isn’t that tough to move them manually. Actually for the fonts I got, spacing isn’t consistent even when adjusting globally, so moving them manually is the best bet. Thanks again!

Hey Dale, Great tutorial! I'm stuck though. When I go into "Ink/ Stitch Lettering" and select my new font, I type out any word ("Stuck" for instance) and only one letter appears - and it's not even "S"... If I change the font, then the entire word "Stuck" appears. What did I do wrong?

Sorry about the delay, that's usually because of not using the right 'right arrow'. Find a pre built inkstitch font and copy the right arrow name, rename your font and paste the right arrow you copied as the name.

This is usually because of not using the right 'right arrow' icon. Try renaming your →.svg, but copy and paste the arrow I have here as the name of your svg and see if that works.

I bought a digitized font off etsy and I am trying to follow your steps. When I try to open in, inkstitch is not seeing the PES files to upload. It seems to be saved the correct way that you say they need to be saved as. Thank you for your videos
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) Ok, by the numbers. 1. unzip the font file (if needed) 2. make sure the fonts are all in one folder and named properly (i.e. A.pes, a.pes, etc) 3. use inkstitch > letters to font, select pes, select the folder. 4. switch to the objects view (Object > object) to see the object layers of each font. 5. make sure there aren't duplicate names (i.e. not two "k's" for example) 6. save as right arrow . svg (→.svg) 7. create json 8. it should now work. I need to know which one of these numbers you're stuck on so I can help better.

Hi, I did all the steps correctly. But the font still won't appear on the list of lettering. What should I do?
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux Жыл бұрын
usually this is because the right arrow.svg isn't the correct right arrow. Select this right arrow → and select copy. Rename your right arrow file and paste the copied → as the name so it appears →.svg. see if that works and let me know.

You only need to save a file with a right arrow if you are making your own custom font library. The right arrow indicates to inkstitch to stitch from left to right.

@@LowTechLinux So, then, could a Left, Up, and Down arrow be used for stitching R -> L, Bottom -> Top, and Top -> Bottom? Not that i want to do this, but I want to understand if that functionality is available.

usually when the lettering tool isn't working for a custom font it has the wrong "right arrow" as it's name, try renaming it and copy/paste this right arrow for it's name. →
