New Project we are now working on a Remington model 700 stock that we made.This is going to be a full rifle.And this is oready sold its a .243 win.Ackely Improved.

I rough out the barrel slot last , and fit it with dye on the barrel . Seens that every time you tighten the action down finally , it finds its own happy location , and the barrel isnt centered . So I hand finish the barrel gap until you can just slide a peice of paper thru there .The barrel is not suppose to touch, just miss . I use a dowel and sand paper to get it exact .

Might I ask what equipment is needed to do this? I'm building a Carcano sporter, and aren't any stocks out there that have a grip. They're all straight grip stocks. Which I don't mind, but I want it to look very nice.

Mill, end mills, wood working knowledge.

Finish you action first , with the scope mounted . Then glue hard foam or balsa wood in places you want to add on . If the comb height , or cheek peice is wrong you wont like it . You can buy pre shaped blanks , but it has to fit you .
