I agree filming yourself is a great way to help you see what you are doing wrong. I think it can be especially helpful for those that don't have access to a skate instructor etc. However, don't be too critical on yourself. We do skating for fun after all and it doesn't matter if your technique isn't perfect.

You're so right. It's helpful, and uncomfortable, as hell.

I tip my hat to you Bill. Thanks for he tips! Since I’ve started pointing the camera at me self I’ve noticed many thing I could improve on. Defiantly room for improvement with sprints and staying low.

Simple, short, sweet. And to the a lot of quick understandable points. I Like this vid a lot for a lot of reasons! Thanks Bill! And a couple parallel stops that were god like like, made it that much better. But, still humble enough to throw in a fall lol!

And hey, don't feel any pressure to post anything at first! I would recommend to begin using the footage for self-examination, then once you're a little more comfortable with the process, it will be easier to let your footage free! I'm still struggling with what bill was talking about when it came to making sure you're in the shot, carrying around a camera on a stick is not easy! What's your instagram handle, I'd like to see what you come up with!

Yeah.. I've a few too many crotch shots in my videos.. I always figure nobody wants to see my ugly mug, but I guess you're right, I should put that camera way out there. I do alternate by placing the camera somewhere on the pavement and skating around in front of it. Also yes, looking back over the footage is awesome for self assessment. It's funny, when I think I've done sometimes awesome and can't wait to upload the footage to my laptop for editing it tends to be mostly disappointing. When I just skate around for fun and without thinking about it too much, I get my best shots. Nice video!

On my channel, you can see me falling on yesterday's skate session. I evaluated that I was trying to become a bird that can fly away from the pavement! I would have been better off if I stayed LOW!!!

Just curious, what headphones do you use? I've thought about investing in some Bluetooth wireless headphones that look similar to yours. Also, will a bluetooth mic record voice on the Go Pros? Thank you! Keep up the awesome work! You look amazing! Maybe some day I can be ripped like you....

Bill, when do you review your moves, while making a pause during rides or when you arrive home?
@billstoppard38015 жыл бұрын
Always when I get home. Immediate feedback is nice but a little too fussy.

I want to film myself so I can work on my technique...would you recommend using my phone at the end of a selfie stick or would you only recommend I get a gopro instead?
@BillStoppard4 жыл бұрын
for rolling shots an action cam is necessary. A phone won't be a stablized or wide enough viwe to capture the whole skater. But the phone from a stationary position (or held by a friend) gets some nice shots, often with crisp slow mo, and a less 'bendy' picture style than with the super wide angle of action cams.

Skates and a sonic shirt!? No.. No.. No.. U need a Shadow the hedgehog shirt to tie this all together lol.

Btw, posting on KZbin helps a lot also. I mean you can forgive tons of lame shootings to yourself, but then you shoot it for the audience it should be ideal... Or you can just initially say that you're a lame skater, as I do: D

You know, some of us skate just for fun, not for ASSessment (be it by others or ourselves).
@billstoppard38015 жыл бұрын
Every sport is more fun when you are good at it.
@clray1235 жыл бұрын
Is it? The striving for improvement/perfection makes you focus on your shortcomings all the time - which seems more like a recipe for work than fun. Of course, for some people work and competition are fun... while for others it's more fun to feel the wind and sun on their body while skating around lazily on a nice day.
