I for sure know what you mean re having time!! ..... we had a chat a few mths back & I took the plunge in buying my first pair of skates ...... i still haven't got out & started the bambi on ice process ..... not enough time & too many housey/family things going on plus COVID throwing a spanner in the works i.e. I thought, if I have a prang, I wouldn't want any hospital visits anytime soon even though I've purchased full protection but knowing my usual luck, its inevitable lol!! Although approaching winter months soon, I'm hoping to start next week ..... your You Tube clips do bring me positivity though as I can see how you've progressed so I'm looking forward to the new journey & therefore your one of the main reasons for that WHITTYskater so Thank you!! Good luck with the house move & I look fwrd to more clips in your own time! 😁👍 ..... just one question if you ever have time to answer, my main concern with the skates is rotating the wheels so that they wear equally, is there a set rule as of when to do this or will I tell just be able to tell by the look of the wearing on the wheel & when actually rotating how tight do you tighten ..... Will I need something like a torque ratchet so that i don't over tighten?! Thanks for reading!! 👍

Ideally rotate your wheels everytime you use them. Of course rotating wheels can be pretty boring and a bit time consuming so at least every 3rd time you skate. It's pretty easy to see the wear. Make sure you swap wheels over to opposite feet and also move inside edges to outside and vice versa. I really need to do a wheel rotation video but check out KZbin for some help videos. If you think of your wheels front to back as 1,2,3,4 swap 1 and 3 then 2 and 4. Also swap from one foot to the other.

Thank you WHITTYskater & what about the tightness...... would I need a torque wrench not to over tighten or is it fairly easy to see whether too tight or too slack!! Many Thanks again for your most helpful feedback & yeah if/when you have time, a wheel rotation clip would be awesome!! 😁👍

I didnt expect such a quick response ...... you're a bloody legend!! 😁👍 ......... being a cyclist also, i now need to purchase a torque wrench because recently I have just over tightened the rear rack seat collar on my Specialized road bike causing it to snap through the middle, I sometimes have a hang up of tightening/not tightening things enough causing obvious damage!! 🙈 ......... but Thank you for your advice ...... extremely appreciated!! 😁👍

It would be interesting to see a video after this busy break of yours, ever more so a direct comparison of the flow before and after. I notice that even after a week of break I do feel skates quite different and less confident. Even the weight seems much more substantial compared to skating every 1-2 days. And good luck with your non-skate related business anyway 🙂

What bearings do you use? I got abec 9's and I went to the near the beach to skate, when I got back home I could hear some crunching in the bearings so I oiled them up with an all purpose oil lubricant. But now one of the wheels are squeaking. Should I buy grease and put it? Won't grease attract more dirt?

I use abec 9 mostly. Tbh I don't take much care of my bearings. Just a squirt of bicycle lubricant now and again
