I appreciate this man’s story so much! I worked inside as a counselor, I cannot say enough how honesty, truth in advertising goes a good far way to heal the splintered pieces and parts of all of us, together! We would all be blessed to count him as someone we could befriend. I hope he writes a book!

I needed to hear this.. You changed a man's life today. I was driving down the highway I-95 listening to your story and traffic is starting to build I look to the side there's a young man about maybe early 30s 28ish he's crying hysterically, has his hands on his head his car is all crashed against the barrier. At the same time, you had just told your story about seeing some sort of spirit in the room that day at the hospital and your conviction made me more of a believer so right as your stories being told I drive by the guy and I say listen, man! Everything happens for a reason! you never know! God bless you! Everything will be alright! he locked eyes with me, paused, and then continued crying. At that split second, I knew that I was able to reach that man to give him hope when he thought the world was over.. the ways he opened his I he could see hope! Strangely enough, this Sunday, I have a christening for my godson, and all I could think was this was God. "The christening is coming." Your words, your conviction, your honesty, your intelligence, everything gave me a story I had to share. Thank you!!! 💯🙏🏽

I think I need to make this clear because there was some miscommunication or I said it wrong. If I would have made it through the Marine corps I would have had the opportunity when I had the time and rank to be a drill instructor or sniper. I never even made it through boot camp, I would never disrespect the Marine corps and even say that I was a marine. I'm sorry if there was any miscommunication on my part it was a nervous day. Just fyi - If your parents beat the sh*t out of you as a form of discipline, it can EASILY turn into you resisting them and having a careless attitude towards a bunch of things in life, which eventually can lead you into drug addiction, crime, violent behavior, etc. Beating your children does not make them better people, I don't care who says different. It teaches kids that using violence is how you get through to people when they aren't listening to you, or if they're disrespecting you. There's decades of research behind this. Beatings are for parents who don't have the capacity and patience to teach their kids valuable lessons through words and actions, through setting examples and using misbehavior as a teaching moment. If kids are acting out, there's a reason for it. You need to talk to them, explore with them, and find out what you can do for them so they can start to correct their behavior. Talk to them about emotions, that it's ok to be angry sometimes, and that there are better ways of handling it. Discipline is mandatory - You can't just baby them and let them do whatever they want. Punishments are mandatory as well - they need to know there are consequences for their actions. But beatings are unacceptable. If you just beat your kids, they'll never actually learn what triggers their misbehavior and outbursts, and it only makes them act out even more. Don't beat your kids folks.

Another great interview! Thanks Poke for sharing your story. Just for some contrast, I did my time in the Illinois state system. Mostly in Shawnee which is a 22 & 2. If somebody started bringing any contraband in, let alone that much heroin, they would be killed as soon as another inmate had access to them. The other people who have been selling contraband for years and years would never let somebody just cut into their business like that. It wouldn't matter who you are affiliated with. Half the dudes in there are doing life, they will kill you in a heartbeat. And they would make sure it was done probably on the yard where everybody could see so it would make an example. Which is probably why nobody ever did it 🤣 Just my humble experience 🙏 Ah the good ol' days.

This dude has low self esteem. He’s like “I got disciplined by getting hit with a skateboard, but I’m fine with everything that happened because it made me who I am”.. but he also says that his mission in life now is to prevent young people from going through what he went through. So, why are you trying to prevent them from going through it if you’re fine with what happened to you? If it’s not okay for them, why is it okay for you? People just refuse to accept that they were abused, and they won’t admit that they have regrets. It’s okay.. if I could do it all over again, I would change EVERYTHING.

Maybe there's some misunderstanding. I wouldn't change anything in my life that happened to me either good or bad. Everyone is unique as an individual what they did where they went and the experiences they had makes them unique no matter how you look at it. I was just expressing what happened to me growing up I'm okay with it now that I look back and see why these things happened. God bless you sir have a great week

I really enjoy Ian's podcasts, but every single one that I've listened to he compares his menial 36 months to guy/gals that have done years & years. Oh well, good interviews!

Great interview, my only advice would be to ask your daughter to address you as Dad and not Father because in the bible it says to call nobody else Father except your father in heaven 🙏

Yes sir I know that but I didn't have to wait that long as anybody else would have. And you got to remember I went in with a lot of references and retired officers having my back. They pulled a lot of strings it just too bad I couldn't follow through

I'm still scared of my mom's "bare-butt spanking"...! They were the worst, but I had to really screw up to get one... I don't remember receiving any of those. The threat was enough...! Got plenty of 'normal' ones though...

He said the taste. Myself when the Bradford Pear Trees bloom I can’t go outside because the smell makes me start gagging! Smells just like crack burning! Try explaining that to your girlfriend that thinks you’ve done no wrong all your life! Lol! If she only knew!🤪
