Thanks for being open and sharing the raw video. My suggestion is to work on low speed skills. I suspect that your experience with scooters may make you want to go fast. The EUC is more complicated to ride so get good at turning at lower speeds like in a parking lot or basketball court. With more time under your belt I'm confident that you'll improve and it will feel like a natural extension of your body.

I've only done 80 km on my second hand v8f, I would recommend school or office carparks outside for trading hours, i don't feel it is very good for off roads. I feel pretty confident on most turnings except for sharp turns. Once I ditched the fence and the walls, I started with my feet on the pedals further forward to practice balancing and braking, as well as getting on and off, then moved them further back on the pedals when I had better control.. Now that I feel pretty confident I'll upgrade my protective gear.

Looks like you're doing great so far. My tip would be to get some proper wrist protection my friend. I'm about the same size as you and face planted on my v8 after I got too comfortable. Any trip or slip up and you'll go falling hands first onto the pavement. The EUC community generally stands hard behind AGTATT (All the gear, all the time). Also, find yourself a parking lot or other wide open space to practice your turns and stopping and starting from a stop. Low speed skills will come in much more handy and up your overall skill level much faster. You don't really want to be riding so fast you're getting beeps if you still aren't comfortable making proper low speed turns. Keep at it though, you're obviously getting the hang of it!

I can relate to this, I had a cutout on my veteran sherman at 84kph the other day. Without all the protection gear I was wearing I would've been in the hospital or dead. I got off with just a few scratches on my hands and a bit of pain around my hip. Sherman is alright just needs a new front rollcage. Still riding and it was my error and I shouldn't have overpowered my wheel. I was wearing gloves, full face helmet from ruroc, oxelo wristgoards, 3 layers of clothing and oneall knee/shinguards and I am soo lucky to be alright.. wear the protection man it helped me survive my crash. There's been unluckiest people at slower speeds.

Your feet look too far back. Try hanging your toes about an inch or so off the front of the pedals, experiment with your right foot forward and your left foot where it is now (staggered) Find where your right foot is best, then try left foot the same, or forward of the right foot, or back further. Remember where your foot position works best.. Bend your knees more but back still straight and vertical. Make your legs like the front wheel on a trailer (jockey wheel) or shopping trolley wheel. No more than 30psi in the tyre. I would suggest finding a low fence/banister rail or even garbage bin to launch from and practice launching, getting up to 15kph or so, then slowing to an almost stop, then put your foot down. You need to be able to stop and dismount, rather than jump off at speed then try to catch it. The wobble will be your feet too far back and high tyre pressure.

I got my V8F back in August. I weigh a bit less than 190 lbs, and started with tire pressure at 35 psi. I now run it at 40 psi. Depending on the location, if you can find support like a pole or wall, you can mount, and look down to get your feet positioned properly (generally you want the front of your toes and back of your heels equal distant from the ends of the pedals), then look straight ahead, rock back and forth, and while leaning forwards release (don't push) from the support to launch. I used arm flailing, flail arms left to steer right and vice versa for balance (steer into fall) and to guide my V8F. I was able to do laps around a tennis court on my first attempt at arm flailing. I then switched to a long straight, and found my V8F to become stable at 6 to 8 mph, and I didn't have to focus on balance. This allowed me to learn the other basics. Leaning forwards | backwards to accelerate | brake was instinctive. I then worked on tilt steering, move inner foot down, outer foot up to tilt the V8F to see how it would respond. With tilt steering, the EUC steers you instead of you steering the EUC (yaw steering such as arm flailing). After a couple of passes, I did a mild weave pattern, and after a few more passes, large radius turns. Since I could now ride, I then learned to free mount (mount and launch without support), which was't an issue since I already knew how to ride. As for tilt steering, I had to estimate how much to lean my body, and how much to tilt the V8F to make a turn, depending on speed and turning radius. I had to make conscious corrections and I also did drills where I adjusted lean angle (tilt more to lean less, tilt less to lean more, counter-steering). My foot movements transitioned into a reflexive response between 1 month - 75 miles to 2 months - 150 miles. During this same period, I also worked on being able to move my arms around and look around without upsetting balance. I also worked on slower speed, tight turns. I also got comfortable with leaning more to take turns at a bit faster speed. I mostly ride at 12 to 15 mph, but still practice some slow speed riding. I use EUC World with my phone to call out speed, battery charge, ..., and set a warning for peak current to 23 amps to avoid cutout.

Wear the gear! I don't care if its comfortable or not. It made me walk away with minor to almost no skin damage from my 84kph cutout on the sherman. Also don't grab your wheel when stepping off... let if fall in a few months the wheel is gonna look much worse than you think🤣! I also reccomend looking for local riders than can teach you how to ride. Slowly carving helps with stability when you experience a wobble. Don't be afraid of falling, it's fonna happen in any way, shape or form. And never give into the false sense of comfort because you will experience the dunning krüger effect like I had with my cutout. Safe rides from the Belgian EUC crew!!

To turn you literally need to look towards where you want to go and the wheel will follow you, just try it out. To practice it go to an open area and try to ride in a circle, make it as wide as you need at start but every next one make it a bit smaller and then do it riding other side. It should resolve all your issues with turning And you need to loosen up, if you are all tense it is harder to control the wheel, it makes wobbles, and riding it is a strenuous activity instead of a satisfying one

You’re doing great. My tip is to find a large empty parking lot or school so you can practice turns and away from pedestrians for yours and their safety. I didn’t ride around people for about the first month and after I mastered turns and emergency stops. Also, for some reason right turns are harder at the beginning. Get a larger diameter wheel as soon as you can, they are much smoother and in my opinion was easier to learn on than the V8. Good luck, be safe and keep practicing, you’re going to love this sport in a few short months.

V8F here, 2yr, 400mi. Definitely need wrist/palm protection. I had very good luck carrying hiking/ski poles in the early miles, for getting moving and coming to a stop. Also, until your body gets more used to the wheel, when turning right point your right hand in that direction, when turning left point your left hand in that direction. And, slow down.

Have you tried with your feet further forward yet? Your ankles should be about just behind the L hanger so then when your knees are bent, your center of balance is just in front of the L hangers. If your feet are too far back, when standing neutral, the machine wants to stop. Then you have to lean unnaturally far forward to get going. If your feet are too far forward, the thing wants to go like a scolded cat and it is hard to pull up. When your weight/feet is set correctly... it will be easy to accelerate, easy to brake and at speed, if you stand neutral, the wheel wont immediately speed up or slow down when you stand centered. You are aware... once you get the hang of this thing (and you are 3/4 of the way there) ... you will find it hard to keep interested in scooters hahaha

@monowheeling 2 жыл бұрын
@@Movelectrics sure, it's easier to ride at higher speed. My point though is that you really should not ride at higher speeds with that little control over the wheel. 20km/h is plenty at that point in the learning curve. It also lets you getting used to control your speed and used to tiltback, which is both a good thing.
@Movelectrics
@Movelectrics 2 жыл бұрын

@ratmanmurray7137
@ratmanmurray7137 2 жыл бұрын
The grass, short like that, is probably better to learn on. When you are on grass, you have to lean forward more... on path, the machine wants to go easily. If you can ride on grass, you can ride on tar. If you can ride on tar, does't mean you can ride on grass. YOU choose the speed, dont let the wheel choose the speed. Your foot position and possibly too high tyre pressure is holding you back in my opinion. Don't just get on and ride at one speed... slow down to walking speed, then lean into it up to a comfortable speed, then slow down to walking speed etc. Go from one side of the path to the other if you are not confident on going on the grass
@Movelectrics

@ratmanmurray7137
@ratmanmurray7137 2 жыл бұрын
Just remember not to just ride in a straight line all the time. You don't learn anything new that way. Once you get your tyre pressure and foot position better, launch from something (so you know your feet are in the correct position) speed up to say 15kph, then back off down to as slow as you can go, then lean into it back up to 15 or so, then back off and go as slow as you can and try to ride along at walking speed, or as slow as you can. Have fun with things like that set of goal posts next to the path... do figure 8's around the uprights, to the left and then to the right... then continue on your way. Practice doing, say 20-25kph, then do a stop to walking speed as fast as you can... (go like you are about to sit on the bog) haha Make learning fun... if you see 3 stones or leaves on the footpath, do a sort of 'mini slalom' around them to practice control... white dotted lines are great for this. You can also buy some little traffic cones from ebay and place them in lines or squares on a patch of ground and try and weave around them fast and slow. Don't just get on and ride somewhere ALL the time... practice basic skills in a small area is just as, if not more important. When I want to stop and dismount, I like to slow down to an actual physical stop, then even reverse a tiny bit, THEN, finally put my foot down... it is a great and safe way to stop and will help with going backwards later. It is normal to be able to turn easier one way than the other. I mount with my left foot on and have more trouble turning left? Not so much trouble... but for me, turning left is a different turn than turning right. You mount with your right foot and say turning right is more difficult? Maybe others can comment if this is the same for whichever side they mount with?
