This is a good thing for senior golfers. Speeding up the hand action is something anybody can do. Thanks for the video.

Hi Steve , thanks for introducing this concept. I just started golf and my coach told me to lock my wrists and not fly them so freely. I bought my own garmin approach r10 and been witnessing 120 125 mph and on the mevo plus sim 105 115 and these come very sporadically. My usual driver swing is around 90 to 95mph.... The body swing didn't really felt that much faster. ... Now I understand why . Its all in the wrists action and multiplier. As I was a competitive badminton player some point in my life , I hope to be able to borrow some free loose wrists skills to swing faster.

So you completely understand via badminton overhand slams. The wrist is extremely free and quick and goes through full range of motion in both.

So thankful I saw this video. We tend to work on our problems constantly. Fix one then some other problems show up. So my main issue to getting lower scores is hitting the driver more consistently and longer. As you demonstrated the Club Golfer at 89 mph that’s more like myself. Seemed with more wrist action that things go off the rails a bit. I’m older and 7 handicap but used to be more free with the wrists. That’s an issue with driver at present because I’m not releasing the hands to square the face sometimes causing a huge high slice. I now realize that I have a flaw in my swing because I’m not releasing the hands to close the club face.. Don’t do that so much with irons but I seem to limit he wrist action with driver. I’m now going to work on freeing up the hands to hit better shots. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Steve all they can say is this is gold. I’ve had rigid slowness for the last five years trying to learn the hand action going through the ball. this is great information that I have never heard before. Is there a method hand action you should use like a dorsiflexion of the left hand and pronation of the right hand or is it something else?

Definitely a great video for us older golfers who don't have the ability to take advantage of the popular "rotational" swing model. Any suggestions for the miss with this fast wrist motion - which for me is hooks/pulls.

Thank You Steve. Your tips have already helped me increase my clubhead significantly. When is the best moment to cross the wrists in the downswing ? Right after bumping left and stepping into left heel ? Or right before impact? Tx

Great video as always, can you please tell us a drill to move the wrist faster, I think to have very loose wrists but my speed doesnt go over 8Omph. Days ago I had swing speed 82 mph and 21.4 hand speed. in a previous swing 8O mph and 24.1 hand speed. Thanks again for your precious hints

Sounds like your wrists get super tight through impact and you either pull or don't change the wrist angle quickly.

I like the idea Steve, but how do you stop the left wrist from hinging since your snapping so hard? I already have a bent wrist past impact and this will make it even worse. Thanks

Is is the hands ‘snapping’ through? Or, could it be how fast the arms decelerate? What speed are the arms at maximum club head speed?
@Inmotion70
@Inmotion70 Жыл бұрын
All really good questions and you're onto something. It's a combo of how fast the arms decelerate, the hand path, the ground forces...all create the snapping whipping effect. However, having the intent on creating the snapping whipping effect may cause a reverse engineering of that list...at least to some extent.

@forrestgardener8906

Very interesting. Two questions. Why do the long drivers swing themselves off their feet to get a few mph of hand speed? And is there an easy way to measure hand speed?
@Inmotion70
@Inmotion70 Жыл бұрын
In my years of observing long drivers that is a 'natural' phenomenon, i.e. not taught or self taught...just certain guys have that particular speed creating mechanism. And you would need a markerless 3d capture system.

This would require a highly synced eye, arm, wrist, and body coordination. When I tried to hinged my right wrist with limited hand speed, I can feel the club head speed is not as fast as if I let the wrist go. But let the wrist go too early I got the early release issue.

Basic physics. An object (the clubhead) traveling in a circular motion...the longer the radius (golf shaft) the faster the object moves for the same input. Increase hand speed by a little, the length of the radius increases the speed of the object at the end of the radius that describes the circle. More length...more speed.

Kyle is no longer the fastest guy, this kid from Australia, Seb Twaddell is now the new speed king he got up to 169.6 mph mishit one with 237 mph ball speed. The latest WLD event he almost never clocked below 160 mph. Freaky. As for me I'm tempting to use my hands more for more speed it just that I'm in more interested in keep my drives in play than make my miss worse by swinging it faster right now I mean I'm already around 110-116 so it's fast and long enough for good golf but I'll try this on the range at least.

@@Inmotion70 Last month I got up 145 mph once on PRGR portable launch monitor after series of let it loose driving session, I was on a roll and then I might've let something loose for that one shot and could be the hands and the pivot. Or it could just be a mis-read but surely it can't be that big of mis-read as most of my readings in that session was around 115-117 mph. The feeling of that freedom and loss of control was definitely there in that one swing. Let's just say I could never reproduce that swing speed since but I'm sure as hell want to get back to that more often.
