this is one of those max devices that makes my head spin in the best way. i've been looking for something like this for so long. have kind of been achiving aspects of it with multiple instances of granualtor ii- but this blows that workflow out of the water. and the interface is soooooo beautiful. great job homie- love this thing and can't stop messing with it

@@peterbarkmusic Thank you very much, the plugin seems very inspirational! A question: is there a maximum length for loops when recording directly from an external source? Can I record a short loop, and then a longer one synchronized with the first, as is done with loop stations?

@@syntexturesmusic9397 Yep! The max length for the buffers is 10 seconds. You can set the buffer length either in seconds, or in synced 1/16th note divisions relative to the session BPM. I think the easiest way to accomplish what you're looking for is to set the buffer lengths, and then enable Ableton transport sync so that your loops are both starting at the same time.

Really liking this plugin!! One issue though - I am getting small clicks in playback, whether using a premade loop, or recording on the fly. At first I thought it was a latency issue, but my CPU meter is barely hitting 15 percent, and if I test some other pretty heavy plugins (Valhalla reverbs, etc) - there is no clicking. I'm using Ableton Live 11 w/ a MOTU 828es. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Interesting, that's odd. Have you tried using the fade controls? The click might be coming from a bad loop point.

Does the device save its samples? - I made a little sketch over the weekend that I wanted to work up but when I reload the Ableton file, the sample slots are empty...

I bought it but am getting an error when trying to load it into a midi track. What version of Ableton Live do I need? I have Standard.

The max buffer time at the moment is 10 seconds. This was meant to stay true to actual loop cassettes which usually range in length between 5-10 seconds, as well as ensure that the device is running efficiently. We are looking into extending the buffer times in a future update, but it's unlikely that they will be multiple minutes long.

Great video, great plugin! I just have one question: no matter how I fiddle around with the fade in/fade out knobs, starting point, and length, I can't seem to get a smooth loop going without hash pops and clicks. Do you know what this might be caused by?

That's really odd. Is your cpu meter spiking? One thing we have on the list for a future update is an alternative fade function that would work more like a crossfade than an envelope, that might be helpful.

@@peterbarkmusic Thanks for your reply! Its definitely not a cpu issue. Sometimes I cannot control the loop length anymore as the dedicated button is stuck, so it seems like some kind of bug. But a crossfade would surely solve the problem!

@@pieterkast I think the loop length button being stuck might be related to which length control you're using. The top length control handles the overall recording buffer length, and the bottom one controls the playback window.

You sound like a character in a Wes Anderson film, love it 🤍 Should name your plugs after his films, would round the whole deal :-P Congratulations on getting this going, it's deeper than what's out there in some ways. 1) Major killer for me is it only loads a 10 second loop? Haven't seen you load any loops yet. But I checked and most the loops I own are 10 to 40 seconds, means I would have to record everything and honestly if we get into Frippertronics you want something longer generally. 2) Please add a per channel wet / dry to the master effects, might not want everything wobbling....good to have some solid loop (without fx) going in the background. (1 and 2 shouldn't be too difficult to fix). Side note - GUI could use a little love. (not too bad though) Again, nice job.....anything tape like this gets a big heart from me. Thanks for the time you put into it.

lol that's not a bad idea. 1. we initially chose to do 10 seconds to emulate actual loop tapes, and optimize performance. There seems to be some desire for longer loop lengths though, so we're definitely looking into that for a future update. 2. I like this idea, I think it could be handled like a send knob for each effect. The gui kinda is what it is. It was originally a bit more in depth, but it was presenting some headaches so we decided to focus more on the plugin working correctly than going overboard with the design. Glad you're enjoying it!

yo! i was bummed outt o open a big project i was working on last night and found none of the settings or audio samples i had loaded into the tape looper had saved :( is that intended?

The audio samples won't be saved in the buffers between sessions. You have to record the output to save the audio. Going to look into ways of improving this in the future!
