@karlakatie1522 That idem is called a Turbine speed sensor.This sensor sends a varying frequency signal to the control unit to determine the current rotational speed of the input shaft or torque converter. The control unit uses the input shaft speed to determine slippage across the torque converter and potentially to determine the rate of slippage across the bands and clutches. This information is vital to regulate the application of the torque converter lock-up clutch smoothly and effectively.

Appreciate the video, I also have an Innova Scanner that I used in my shop to perform diagnostic and emissions repairs. For years my Snap On MT2500 did well untill CAN protocol vehicles started to show up in my bays. The Snap On tool could not access the new CAN protocols on cars after 2003 so I bought the Innova 3160 w/ABS. However after one yrs use I noticed that the soft buttons would not respond anymore. So this is OK for the do it yourself but not the professional.

I like the software application, it is very comprehensive the best part is the way you can print out professional reports. I have a Bluepoint microscan, the Innova is much better featured. Thanks for your videos.

@beefystik The car i scanned the live data on was stone cold from sitting all night that is why the trim is like that and the o2 is not fluctuating above and below.5 in hindsight i sound have scanned the engine at normal operating temp.

Yes on the B,U,C codes, limited on the testing and no on the mode 6.

@karlakatie1522 You use the live data to help you see if the the car is performing normally.A good place for reference of what those readings should be for a certain situation would be the factory service manual for you specific vehicle.

I have the identical scanner to this, and the same year, and same color even, SL2 you do. You should make a video of what the Saturns Live Data should look like with the car fully warmed up. That would actually be a big help for people looking at LiveData with one of these tools on a Saturn with issues, for comparison.

Newer version has a micro usb slot on the bottom. And it comes with cable usb and micro usb on the other end, that means you dont need the 232 adapter anymore.

@MrMastertech67 No I didn't start the engine on the Mitsu at all. I tried the tool on my neighbour's Nissan as well, same result. But it did link and work on their 2002 Toyota Corolla.

Would love to see you pull a spark plug out just a little and see if the scanner says which cylinder is misfiring and what it suggest. Replace spark plug or coil or module. Do you think the scanner would do that?

I do not have any info about the 3160b as i have not used one.The 3130 did clear the DTCs from the Altima.

Yes, check engine light is on and no code error.

It does look like this code was set by running the engine with the relay removed.To confirm clear the memory of the computer and see if it comes back.

Rich - the converter to pc cable cable is actually -USB to DB9 Serial RS232. In short it's more a DB9 ( 9pins) Male - to USB (emulating and old style rs232 -25 pins) commonly found in old printers.

@richpin06a Just noticed at the top right,just above the screen, it has the model number printed like yours in the video. But there is a "b" under the zero. Maybe it's an updated version? There is a mini USB connection at the bottom. And a supplied USB cable

If your buying a scan tool,be aware that most tools will read some codes on most models,if you want more info on your car get a model specific scan tool,a better alternative is to download software for your laptop instead of wasting money paying for a handheld device.

Richpin, I appreciate your videos. I've had good success using them to fix my 2002 SL1. I bought this scanner recently because of my past sucesses with your information. Just to let you know, this new model 3130C (as of January 2014) comes with USB. However, it advertises the abilty to download stored data to you PC for analysis. It does NOT have this capability. I just returned the unit after talking to Innovas customer support. They told me that "they are aware of the problem, however they cannot tell me when the functionality will become available". Not acceptable! It will connect to the Innova website when you can print out a crap report for the cost of $40 or $50 a year per vehicle. Just wanted to let you and your fans know what this comapny is doing as of January 2014.

@richpin06a It really only seems to be an issue with european cars. So just keep an eye out for it. We had to send our scan tool back to snap on to fix it

Just bought 3130c. Plugged into DLC and didnt come on. I am assuming no power at the DLC connector (vehicle)? Its a 2004 GMC Yukon. Is there a fuse to check? any idea which one? Thanks. Good video.

@morpheus232001 Also mine has a "b" under the 3130 to the top right of the scanner. The only difference between mine and the on in this video, that I can tell, is that it has a mini USB port at the bottom and comes with the cable to connect to the computer.

Rich, Looks like it says ABS on the box but as i understand it the 3130 doesnt scan ABS. What does it say about ABS on the box? Can it do ABS or upgrade to it? Thanks
