here the things about grit he op but he kinda hard to use,cuz he had bad direct unit plus if your opponent know you're grit they will punish earlier on,so using him is complicated.I'm a grit main btw it doesnt mean I'm good player

Haha, I won an Olaf vs. Grit matchup on this map a while back (at much lower MMR), good to see I had the right sort of ideas when I played it in terms of sticking to fast, cheap units (though I didn't get round to building any stealths). It's always nice to see situations where the broken COs get to actually play in games.

I am a Grit main (yes, my AWBW name is Troll Master and I have played more than 50% of my matchs as Grit) I usually play fow match and most of the time, I open up with 2 recons followed by atrilleries and artilleries. I try to capture centre properties earlier and hold them with infs as long as I could cuz as you said, you need to have an income lead against Grit. If you are on even terms with Grit then you will lose even if you are playing stally cos like Olaf cuz 8hp artilleries still render anything they hit useless. Grit's capture game is terrible. You need infs as meat shield and you can't freely capture with them. I often find myself winning on fronts but unable to take advantage cuz all my infs are damaged. Also vision is key for Grit. You *need* to have multiple recons and at least one backup recon or else your artilleries can't do shit. Also at least one anti air on each front is mandatory. Whenever stealths are not banned, I always always save my money and get a fighter early and keep it hidden cuz I know they will spam stealths. Overall this was a good match but wyam did some mistakes like building a tank earlier which can't really do anyting. As Grit you should open up with recon or artillery. Then he also build 2 missiles which was a terrible move imo. Even one missile was not worth it in this case. An anti air does the job just fine and he should have saved money for a fighter at that time in anticipation of a stealth. Also mechs amd the t copter were a mistake. They just get shot by infs and don't really get to shoot anything. And the battleship was not a very good move either. That was 28000 for one unit. I would rather have a rocket and two artilleries. Nevertheless great match. Awesome commentry. Nice memes. Nice tips. Good job!

It should be mentioned that Grit’s “Tanks” are an Infantry cheaper than most other CO’s tanks, while also have “+1 movement” on his “tanks” that Max doesn’t get.

Yep. Stealths are a great counter to Grit. Rockets are also very good against him on stally games, because he'll have a lot of trouble reaching your rockets while you'll have plenty of his stuff to shoot

The reason out maneuvering death balls works so well, is unlike other units, artillery can't move and attack at the sametime.

Wouldn't a Black bomb be better against Grit Deathball? I mean Stealth is safer but wouldn't halving all his units' health make his defense crumble against your mass of light units?

Black bombs are banned by default in AWBW matches since they are broken, but yes they make Grit a much, much worse CO when allowed.

I know standard theory on that map is to use an arty to blast open a pipe seam and that might be a bit slow against Grit so I understand skipping that and trying to use it to lock down some cities but do you think you could have send it back later to do that anyway? Whenever I play fog I always feel like I'm losing until I start capping their HQ while my infantry is surrounded by medium tanks.

I don't think arty to pipe seam is standard theory, at least I've never seen it above the 1100 level. I think pipeseams are usually burst by medium tanks sliding around in front (while still moving 5) or a bomber or something else 1 shoting it later in the game. The 2-3 turns of wasted arty time isn't worth it imo.

The battleship was the jewel in the crown that cost the war. Would be interesting to know the exact economics on that but seeing as it was not hitting expensive units and getting hit for big repair costs I am surprised the grit player left it on the naval base instead of cutting their losses and potentially luring in some flying units whilst securing the south-east.
