I am so excited to pick up some king in my neck of the woods TODAY! I ordered it on Monday and it just arrived. I haven't had it in so long and you're so right, a bit more of an oily texture but that flavor is something that people will just never understand until they actually try it. I made some sockeye last week, this week...THE KING! Loved the video, definitely subbed!

As a native Pacific Northwesterner, Beads and Salmon Eggs are the way to go when going for Salmon dude. They LOVE them. That and dyed Shrimp. Everyone uses them because it's a guarantee always that you'll at least get yourself a bite or two. King Salmon are most commonly referred to as Chinook from Oregon north through Alaska unless you're a transplant or tourist 😂. Chinook, King and Blackmouth are the three names. For a fun(nny) fact: I used to call Kokanee Salmon as "Cocaine" Salmon because I went with the "sound it out" rule 😂. Coca-nee is the correct way to say it I found out in like... 2017. Somehow. Cocaine Salmon haha. Also for anyone who wants to know, Kokanee is landlocked Sockeye. My bucket list Salmon to catch is a big Male Chum Salmon though. Never known why, but there is something about them that just drives me wild thinking about catching them.

From Washington. We call them Kings.
@trippinoutdoors
@trippinoutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@robhubble3992 Everyone I know as well as heard from Washington says Chinook, so that's likely a group trait of those you fish with. King is actually most often used in stores as branding for easy sales, and thus people outside of the area they most commonly are fishes for end up being known as King Salmon, aka those I refer to as transplants and tourists. Transplants will include those who are a generation or two after their parents/grandparents moved to the region for the record, as they'll be the most heavy influence on you and what you know things as.
@robhubble3992
@robhubble3992 Жыл бұрын
@@trippinoutdoors agree to disagree I suppose. Maybe the older generations called them chinook… but then again even my Dad, now 68 always called them kings. I’ve heard them called chinook, but it is certainly not common, in Washington at least, as you say. 🤷🏼‍♂️
