@@Gurupimp10 a lot of people. Games like league of legends that are literally free have so many players that buy every skin as soon as they drop. Some of them run like $100 to buy without doing battlepass coins etc. If they had a 'rent the skin collection' they'd have even more people paying money to wear a skin for a free game. Those people who dont care about trading or value of a skin and just want a cosmetic thing will be the demographic. It's not the same demo as collectors traders etc, but it does remove cases stuck in inventories of people who would never open them or sell them and add cash to valve's pockets.

There's a flipside to this that, while very small, doesn't seem to be talked about. When renting the skins, the case is consumed and no skins are generated, nothing. No ST, no knives, no low floats, no high floats. Could this not miniscule-y and eventually drive up the price of the rented case? Since it will take more cases to generate skins? Not only the price of the case, but then the price of Stat Track skins, the Kukuris, and low/high floats? E: Ah, yeah. I posted this at 2 minutes into the vid.

It would make sense that Valve would prevent us from renting multiple cases at the same time. This is definitely a way to get people way more addicted to skins, they will have to keep buying rentable cases and consuming 1 every week to keep their favourite case's skins, not to mention these are just the base skins, without stattraks or any sort of ability to sticker them which is literally the other 50% of the hobby, this is a W move

One point that no one has picked up on is that this may incentivize people with weapon skins to modify them by adding a sticker (or getting the stat-trak version), so that they are visibly seen as non-renting weapon skins, whereas if you leave your skin unblemished, you run the risk of players calling that out: "poor renter boi" or something.

I think theres a huge deal with the renting that you missed, most people get bored of their skins after a week, being able to rent a new set of skins every week for $2.50 will make owning one specific skin less enticing. Just my few predictions and observations: -> Anyone who bought a Kilowatt skin can show that they own it by applying a sticker / nametag. You cant put those on rentals -> As those rentals consume the case, supply will be more limited, thus possibly lowering the supply of these cases (which doesnt mean higher prices at least in the short term however) -> On a related note: Some countries (e.g. Belgium) are trying to ban lootboxes. Could this be a possibility for valve to still have drops for those players? - Just speculation, but this might have an implication for operation cases. So imho this is a W. Why? Because these rentals wont 'destroy' current skins, however they might shorten supply. Then again, if this change keeps some countries in the case drop pool, so to speak, this might not be a problem. Remember: When the dust has settled, it will be easier to evaluate the changes. But this will take time.

The only time the market will crash, rise or change is if people decide to make it change. This update shouldn't change the value of any skins, if so on a super small scale. As pure usual, if the market ever changes, it's either due to valve fking up, or due to people overreacting to things. It's no different to the cheater problem, the game is great and as like every game, it has issues, but the cheater problem is not the game's fault, it's the people's fault for deciding to cheat and ruin the game for others. Yes, they should add a better anti-cheat, but it's super tuff to do as most anti-cheats still get bypassed over the years. So as usual if anything changes most of the time, don't blame the game, blame the players...

4:50 I don't know chief. I feel like most people won't be buying kilowatt skins anymore, demand will be much lower. I'd say prices of kilowatt skins will drop around %50 in a month , Lower float will drop less in comparison ofc. And there is a small chance that renting could be introduced to older cases which will cause like %15 drop in a month since it's just a possiblity for now. Since selling to China (BUFF) isn't possilbe now , I would say that's gonna have another %20 drop effect on top so I'd say in 1 month from now we'll see at least %60 drop in rentable skins ( ft and worse floats) and %30 drop in general. If anything goes up it will be the rentable cases and some knives ofc. Maybe some factory new weapons skins as well. But in general I see this as a huge L for CS traders.
