If your motherboard has an M.2 slot on it, you should just be able to put it in. Then you can create a windows installation media, disconnect your sata drive (turn off and unplug the PSU when making hardware swaps) and reinstall using the USB drive. In the bios you could also change the boot devices instead of unplugging but honestly I find it easier to unplug a cable.

I upgraded from a 4790k recently after it served me well all those years. Old ddr3 with working mainboard and cpu got surprisingly expensive. I sold everything old except for my Dark rock pro 3 cooler, the gtx 1080 and my haf x case. For under 100€ (if I factor in the sold equipment) I went from 16gb ddr3 and 4790k with low end no wifi/bluetooth mainboard to 32gb ddr4 with tight timings and a Ryzen 5800x on a x570 motherboard with Bluetooth and wifi 6. I even got another 1tb m.2 ssd. Sure ... I traded used for used. But the new setup is lightning fast in comparison, was basically free and I can upgrade the GPU whenever I want in the future. Currently the 1080 is ok for cad work and League of Legends. I saw all parts running and were able to benchmark before I bought to see if everything works fine. Now ... knowing that building a pc is fun and actually pretty cheap in comparison, I would buy used again any day od the week.

Out of curiosity, when it comes to picking out products you suggest for builders, do you consider things like the noise level of fans, build quality, return rates, etc.? I'm one of those that 'got bit by the Corsair bug' during my last build and have basically every type of product they make. I chose them because of peace of mind and having used them in the past, know that the experience is good. However, I keep watching this entire video series of yours and see where I could do better with picking other brands in my future builds. I just worry, if something were to go wrong later with a non-Corsair product, am I going to be paranoid and always think that will be the cause of it... I like peace of mind. But I also like cheaper. Hi Jason, I am looking to build a rig for about $900 that's got a very strong CPU to play esport titles such as valorant, fortnite, could you squeeze in a 7800x3d in a $900 build? Or would i have to downgrade
@OdinAlgeron Жыл бұрын
valorant likes intel, the sweet spot is the 12700k(f) fortnight runs on a potato, the 12700k(f) demolishes it so a 13700k(f) setup would be better and cheaper than a 7800x3d rig
@PCBuilderChannel Жыл бұрын
So for games like Valorant you still want to focus on your GPU choice, but because the games are easy to run your GPU will be putting out a lot of frames so you want a CPU that can handle it. But a $449 CPU is not what you want for this in a $900 build. Go to our 5600 build guide video instead. Much better choice for this build need.

Hi Jason! Quick question, looking to upgrade my GPU from my 1070. Will also be upgrading RAM and PSU but wanting to know what would pair for best results without bottleneck with i7 8700k? Also wanting to OC the CPU as well. Also considering submitting a new build for your next BMB episode but if I can get by with good graphics on 1080p and good performance on MSFS 2020 with an upgraded GPU and RAM with the 8700k OC'd for awhile then may just do that while I build up some money for a real nice setup in the future. Thank you!
@ivantsipr Жыл бұрын
I don't think upgrading your PSU and ram would be any good in a platform that old, it would be best to just save $$ to do a whole new build on a modern platform, I'm pretty sure a 12th gen i3 (12100) outperforms your 8700k. Any modern GPU (AMD 6000 series /Nvidia 3000 series ) would be bottlenecked on your CPU.

That brother who was looking at getting a i5 11400f I've got one of these CPUs. These motherboards restricts the CPU to 65watt out of the box. What does that mean? It means your CPU will throttle between 40C-50C. You can fix this but there's not a lot of information on how to fix this and you will spend a lot of time pulling your hair out. Just get the Ryzen 5600 and a avoid that headache.

Did you install the motherboard driver for it? Double check the bios settings as well. Can always jump into the device manager in Windows and check to see its status. Can be a lot of things, for more help go to the reddit build a pc forum and post a troubleshooting post and you'll get help.

Jason, I built a PC in 2013 using a CaseLabs Mercury S5 + Pedestal. I have 2 x 120mm radiators in case and 2 x 240 radiator in pedestal. CPU is I7-4770K and a Nvidia 780Ti. 32Gb of memory and 500Gb of storage on an SSD. I water cooled CPU, GPU, and Memory. Anyway, I am hoping to upgrade my system. I want to water cool, it has been reliable for 10 years now even with intense mathematical modeling running for weeks at a time. I want to stick with an Intel CPU (I helped develop Ice Lake through Meteor Lake thus I would feel like a turncoat if I went with AMD CPU) but GPU I am more flexible with brand. Gaming (priority 1) and computational modeling are my goals. How can I contact you for recommendations?

Hey Jason I went with the gigabyte b550 aorus elite AX V2 with Ryzen 5600 paired with rtx 3060 ti. Do you still recommend this motherboard over the $700 brother 2 build motherboard?
@PCBuilderChannel Жыл бұрын
Right now the Aorux Elite AX V2 B550 is on sale for $159 so $30 more and you essentially get bios flashback and Wifi 6 (and bluetooth) which to me is worth $30 if you want those features. If not, the B550M Steel Legend is a great value board with some premium features.

If using a DAC the onboard audio on the motherboard doesn't matter as you are passing the signal off digitally to the DAC for the analog conversion.
