Dark Season 3 Breakdown
Ok so Dark centred around Adam and Eva, two time travelling characters from seperate worlds that were at war with one another.
At one point Adam smashed her box in like you should smash that like button and Eva or rather Martha became pregnant with his child.
Adam believed that destroying their child would end the time loop that all of the characters in the show had been trapped in whereas due to her motherly instinct, Eva just wanted to protect him.
This led to a finale in Adam killed Martha and their child, however, much to his surprise he felt fine and didn't suddenly disappear.
This is when Claudia arrived and explained that there was actually a third world that the characters were not aware of. In this origin world the inventor H.G. Tanhaus had created a time machine in order to save his family from dying.
However it backfired and split the universe into two, creating branched realities in which other possibilities could play out.
Claudia had spent her time in the loops retracing all of the family trees of the characters and had surmised that because she could not fully trace back who her daughter's real father was that they were actually in an offshoot reality rather than the origin one.
Thus she sent Adam and his younger self Jonas back in time with Martha to save Tanhaus' family in the origin world which would remove the need to create a time machine that would create their offshoot world's in the first place.
They accomplished this and those not created by the timeloop were seen in the final scene sitting around the dinner table celebrating their happy lives in what the show deemed as paradise.
Looked like a crappy friday night to me but who am I to judge.
Now when I first saw this I was over the moon for the characters, they'd finally all got their happy ending and Woller even had his eye back. Sure some of the characters created by the family trees in the timeloop were gone but on the whole it was pretty positive.
I was happy to let this go but then KZbin user Vizi Elod dropped a comment on my ending explained that I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
After rewatching the ending with this in mind I think it actually holds a lot of weight.
So in the final scene we see the friends sitting around the table, celebrating, all of a sudden the lights go out, Hannah experiences Deja Vu, looks over to a yellow raincoat similar to the one that the travellers wore, says that she felt the people in the loops passing away and states she will name her child Jonas.

The moment tanahuas switches on the the time machine. His time line where he builds the time machine has stopped and Adams and Eva's universes are created instantaneously and have existed simultaneously for ever. But the catch is they appear to exist forever and the loops that have happened before are only virtual, because everything before the time machine was switched on took place as in the original timeline. So what we viewers see in the show is the first time the loop involving all the charecters including Adam, Eve, Jonas , Martha , Claudia and others takes place in reality. All the charecters and their versions are actually created at the moment the original time machine is switched on with some of them (charecters who are aware of time travel) having preprogrammed memories of the same loops that have happend before. The virtual reality and the reality are indistinguishable to the characters. Every thing in the actual reality happens exaclty same as in the previous infinite virtual loops including Claudia finding the loophole and Jonas and Martha stopping the car accident . But it's only this time that Jonas and Martha actually really exist and witness the accident is stopped. And so the super imposed state of accident happening and not happening simultaneously collapses and we get a concrete timeline where it is observed for real that the accident didnot happen. So Adams and Eva's timelines go out of existence and anew timeline with tanahuas son, daughter in law and grand daughter still alive begins

Hannah's child in the origin world would definitely not be the same Jonas from the show since it has a different father. The idea that the same person can be created no matter who the parents are makes absolutely no sense and would make the whole family tree in the show pretty pointless, since the ancestry becomes arbitrary.

Exactly, I do think there is a bigger loop as children Jonas and Martha saw each other in the tunnel, meaning them, going to prevent the loop from happening, had already happened, but that doesn't mean they will come to existence in the original timeline, which, as you say makes no sense. You’re missing one small, tiny detail. I agree and all but, when alt-Martha meets Jonas... she REMEMBERS him from another life. A life that never happened. How? In the same way, the ending gives us some insight with Hannah’s de-ja-vu, and the dream she had the night before. How can that be possible? And it’s just then that she knows her son will be Jonas. It’s left for you to decide.

There is another way of interpreting the last scene and it doesn’t involve putting the origin world in any kind of loop. Remember show’s tagline - the end is the beginning, the beginning is the end? Well that’s literally what we see there. But from a perspective of an unaware participant. The dinner takes place in base reality and the lights going out are probably due to Tannhaus activating his time machine for the very first time as shown in a scene earlier last season where he is a much older version of himself. Now, here’s the tricky part. When the lights go out the whole story told across 3 season happens, with loops and hoops and all the things we’ve come to love about Dark. However, characters having dinner in base reality are completely unaware of anything ever happening since base reality got split until Jonas and Martha fixed it. At the moment of them changing the fate of Tannhaus’s family base reality gets reassembled and carries on and that’s when the lights go on again. This is exactly how everyone in base reality experienced Dark. Tannhaus pushed a button, lights went out for a second, lights came back. From their point of view nothing happened. A bit Lynch, but I like it that way. This way the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. In the end we see how it started and how it ended. And if you choose to interpret it this way the whole story takes place between lights off and on so it all happened… in the Dark. Here’s your pun Mr Deffinition ;)

You were going the right way but no so of that.. The time machine made by Tannhau was started in 1986 and this is a time of 2019, 2020 and here nothing changed, Cause if you are saying light off indicates Tannhau pushing the buttons then that would have meant in that moment there would be people there which weren't present after the reality was changed and Tannhau's family lived.. Bt in both cases that doesn't seem to affect anything of now.. So maybe it was just a normal powercut or any other theory to that, Maybe what was mentioned in the video

One thing that I haven't seen very many people mention regarding the 'new/bigger loop' is that Hannah breaks the 4th wall. She looks directly into the camera, at us, as viewers ("... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.” -- Nietzsche) when she mentions Jonas's name. This is essentially akin to young Jonas and Martha passing photon's in the 'gap' between each other, entangling their existences to no bounds. But what's happening, and it's one of THE most chilling aspects of this show -- is that this action by Hannah IMPLICATES US as quantum observers, and brings us into the loop itself. It's a subtle thing, but at the same time it is probably one of the most powerful things in a show I've ever watched. It puts a whole new perspective on watching S1 and S2 again -- because now you are are a known observer. YOU are the one collapsing the wave function of the quantum entanglement. YOU are allowing the deja-vu to occur. YOU are the one keeping the loop going and it's TRUE because... well, you're watching it. It's so subtly brilliant, powerful, and mysterious at the same time. Every time I see this show now, I will see it with new eyes.

The 33 year loops are cycles. The ending we saw was the last cycle. It was a break off point between them breaking the cycle vs. them failing to do so. This hints of parallel universes one in which they did succeed and therefore the loop does not happen and the other in which the loop continued itself endlessly or ended at a different cycle. If we want to think bigger it can also be that the Jonas and Martha from the two worlds loop in one reality is only able to succeed because they entered another parallel universe in which they did making it that each alternate universe/reality affect eachother in a sort of sequence hence the childhood closet meeting, the dreams and de ja vu

I prefer this, it makes more sense to me. The idea is that what we have seen in the first 2 seasons has been repeating itself for infinity, the idea of everyone being stuck in the same loop but it was basically hell because the people kept living the pain and suffering over and over and over again. The finale of season 3 brings a more final ending to the concept, essentially freeing all previous characters from their hellish loops

The only problem with taking the existing ending at face value is that it creates it's own time paradox. Jonas and Marta save the clockmaker's son, so he never makes the time machine, so he never splits the world into the other two realities, so Jonas and Marta never exist to save his son, so his son dies, so he DOES make the time machine, so Jonas and Marta do exist to save his son and round and round we go. It makes more logical sense for the origin world to be trapped in the same causal loop as the other two, only the loop is much bigger than even Claudia ever realized. Otherwise the show creators have some 'splainin' to do with regard to how this time paradox at the end can be resolved.

Okay one more thing on this. When Jonas and Martha are travelling to the origin world, they are stuck in the time bridge. Now, there is a moment here when their younger-selves see each other in the basement and the closet respectively. And later in the origin world, when they discuss about it, they happen to have a memory of it from their childhood (Martha asks Jonas if she saw him "In the closet?"). This can have two meanings to it- 1) they have done this before and hence saw what they saw in the basement and closet when they were kids. That means this is a part of the never ending loop. 2) They might have now developed that memory in the present day because they had influenced their memory of the past when they were at the time bridge.

Or maybe when the two worlds were split, the events that occur in the origin world and other two worlds should be same not 100% but a significant one. Thats why what happened in the Eva's world, is the copy of the origin world and thats why when she was a child, she too saw the same thing what origin Martha as a child saw. Because when Tannhouse split the worlds, the memory of the existing people in the origin world also would be copied to the both worlds. So when the tunnel Martha says 'It was you in the closet?', Jonas wasn't necessarily there in the closet. She is just recalling the memory of the origin world Martha The only question is when Martha saw Jonas as a kid and Mikkel as his father. What's that supposed to mean? I'm not able to get an explanation around that though

The fact that Martha remembers it in the present HEAVILY implies that they have saved the Tannhaus family in a loop. After all, the only way Jonas or Martha can exist is if the Tannhaus family dies and Papa Tannhaus time-travels. What I think happens is that the "fixed" world with an alive Tannhaus family causes a different time travel...one where someone (connected to the entanglement, I suppose?) goes back in time and runs the Tannhaus family off the road. Cue the Jonas/Martha loop all over again.

I don't believe EVERYONE ceased to exist from within the two branching off worlds. Simply by entering the origin world, and interacting with Marek and Sonja, Jonah and Martha exist in some capacity. Two people hold memories of them. their voices, choice of dress, their words, etc. No matter how brief the encounter was, it was substantial enough for Marek to think of them as "Angels". They will not be forgotten. Thus, they exist.

Nah, Tannenhaus probably realized he was obsessed with time travel and to what point it was destroying his relationship with his son, so I think having a second chance with his son would put an end to his obsession with time travel and he would put more focus on fixing their relationship. Jonas wouldn't be Jonas as he wouldn't be of he same descendance. Nope. You're complicating it too much.

This Theorie has a few points, that make it quite easy to debunk. First point: "Wöller's and Hannah's son becomes the Jonas we know." How can it be possible that he becomes the Jonas we know, if he has a different father??? Second point: "The light flickers, so Tannhaus MUST have built and turned on the time machine again." there are three things, that speak against that. first being Tannhaus is an old man in the 80s, where he finished the Time machine. The Dinner at the end scene happens 2019/2020 judging by the age of Hannah and the others, so clearly a while after the died. second being, that we got to know during season 3, that the fascination of time traveling in the Tannhaus family originates from bringing dead loved ones back to live (we see the father of the blind guy in the 19th century). But even in Jonas world, where his son and granddaughter did die, he didn't research time traveling any further and didn't try to bring his family back to live, because he had Charlotte and he is needed where he already is, not in the future or the past. He was even scared as middle aged Jonas told him, that time traveling is possible and that there is a wormhole in the caves, because as a scientist he knows about the implications that this entails. Only the loss of his son and his grief made him do it in the origin world. And now you want to tell me, that he tries to time travel, when his son survives, even though he didn't even try it, when his family died and he only got a "replacement" for them? Does not make any sense to me whatsoever. the third thing is rather simple: yes, when someone used the passage in Jonas' world, the light would flicker. But in the scene at the end, the light didn't just flicker. The power was completely gone (as it can happen during a fucking thunderstorm). And since the whole theory is built on the assumption, that Tannhaus built the time machine anyway, the whole video is debunked.

How can it be possible that he becomes the Jonas we know, if he has a different father???_ There would be family lineage loops but it's pretty likely that they would be different from the original loop. Charolette discovered the third timeline by figuring out the incestuous relationships that spawned these families. (That was my take). Only when she found the loose thread that was outside of the loop did she realize there was a third dimension (Universe), Jonas will be a different Jonas but so were all of the other mirrored characters. The invention of a time machine triggered 2 entirely new dimensions from the source dimension. I think it's accurate to say these dimensions are like taking a snapshot of the primary dimension and forming a loop around it. The time machine was triggered at a different moment,, therefore the split dimensions also change. At the moment that the machine is turned on, all past histories and future happenings are created in that moment.

I believe it was Claudia who was explaining to Adam in the final episodes that everything meant to happen will happen, even if its under different circumstances and even different time periods. If "fate" has determined a certain major event is meant to happen such as the the creation of time travel or the apocalypse then I see no reason why Jonas and Martha closing their loop didn't delay it happening later or even sooner. I think the closing of the loop was a reset, not an end.

To me it was obvious since this jonas that hannah gives birth to is woller's son and not the son of michael, obviously the jonas in the origin world is going to be completely different from what we knew him to be. The ending is in such a way that people can make different interpretations about it...and that is its beauty! But I feel, that no more loops would be created. The lights could not have went off due to the creating of time machine, since they already mention that when the time machine was created in Original world, it DESTROYED this world and created 2 new versions. So, if that would have been the case, they would have not shown us later conversations at the table... the flickering of light and yellow jacket are used to signify that we are somehow connected to our alt versions...

Oh mate, I feel really Honored that you have created a whole video based on my theory :D However, I do know that many people attack this theory, this is my interpretation of the ending. It didn't mean that the Johnas will be the same Johnas. Didn't either mean that Charlotte will be born etc. But for me, the whole ending scene wasn't a sign for anything positive at all. For me it clearly has a deeper meaning. What I further like about this series, just as you mentioned. To more time we re-watch it, and the more people watch the series, the more theories and the more different interpretations we will get out of it. Still a masterpiece. I was wondering about a different detail. Eva used the 'frozen time' moment of the first apocalypse to create a second, alternate branch of reality. There was one in which AlternateMartha saved Jonas, and one in which she did not. These two realities coexisted parallel to each other (or not that parallel in fact, as sometimes they crossed each other). Enlightened Adam had the same tactics in mind. He used the 'frozen time' moment to create an alternate branch, in which Jonas and Martha prevented the car crash. But this should be just a branch. What about the other branches? To me it seems like it's just a half-solution. Or maybe I'm wrong, my brain already melted several times while watching and thinking about the series.

You are absolutely correct, they destroyed their reality but the other 2 realities still exist. With the time standing still they created 3 know realities (probably Infinity realities, but only 3 are important)one in which Martha saved Jonas,one in which no one saved Jonas and one where old Jonas saved Young Jonas. I think that all alternative realities/characters can exist at the same time, meaning when martha asked jonas if he remembers going to her world he said “no” even though he already did, but in reality the alt jonas was killed so only one jonas exist. Jonás will be a different Jonás. It’s Hannah’s and Woller’s son. The Jonás we see throughout the series was Hannah’s and Mikkel’s son. So..... no, it’s not the same Jonás. It’s a different Jonas. The dinner is just that......... a gathering of all the characters that were not caught in the loop. Hannah’s comment it’s just that dejavú. At one point or another during our day and lives we have those moments of traveling to a new place and you feel like you’ve been there before and can’t explain why. Or meeting someone and feeling that you’ve seen them before, and again you can’t explain why. That’s what the writers were trying to convey. But also the beauty of this show it’s that it’s up for interpretation. To me the loops were finally broken, and now you have the original world with this characters going on with their lives and the begging of their own stories. Yes, we will have a version of Jonás, and maybe they’ll be one of Martha. But this versions will only have one lifetime, not the multiple lifetimes of suffering and warring with each other. As for Tannhouse, I think he finally gave up on his obsession with time travel after that fight with his son. He understood that the time you need to pay attention is the now, the present with those you love. And being there for those you love. The creation of the time machine was out of regret and heartbreak, for not being there for his son and family. And after the fight and then the story told by his son, Tannhouse just decided to pour all his time and life to his family.

I think that's what the authors ultimately were trying to convey as well. Hannah seems happier in the origin world having finally found the love she was seeking in the maze of the loop. It's ultimately pain and heartbreak that cause most of the suffering in Dark, along with the characters trying to impose their WILL on others. The concept of WILL (want) being a major concept in German philosophy and touched on quite a bit in the show.

Origin world ended in 1986 when it split into two parallel worlds Since there now finally exists an origin timeline which reached 2020, it means that the loop has ended. But in the stream of time the loop existed at one moment and it will always exist at that moment. Basically people in Adam's and Eva's world experienced lifetimes in a single moment of time stream. They experience infinite loops, finally solved them so that origin timeline can continue forward. But in this very same timeline, first time around Marek and Sonja would definitely die, loop would be created, loop would be solved, meaning the other 2 worlds will stop existing because there is no one to observe them, but origin world would finally continue forward towards unending future. So it's a loop but not really at the same time. Because in origin 2020, the other 2 world's definitely don't exist.

I think Dark elegantly showed us the Buddhist/Hindu concept of samara- the endless loop of illusion and suffering, caused by attachment. These worlds are in a sense created by the desires of Jonas and Martha for one another, starting back in the neutral nirvana-like area where they saw each other for the first time as children through the closets. Desire created their worlds.... the time machine was just a neat device to reveal the endless loop going on... And it does go on endlessly. Until we wake up, and let go of attachment.

Also concept of non dual nature of matter or existence (Adwait) is also strong. No. The whole point of them going to the original reality was to break the loop. And we saw the other two realities vanishing which shows the loop is now broken. It also suggest that in real world it is impossible to make a time travelling machine as it would eventually mess things up and someone would come back in time of the original world and would stop the making of the machine. When Marthe and Jonas were disappearing and all the others disappeared as well, the world around them didn't disappear only they did. This is what I thought. The Dejavu represents a glitch in the matrix. It happened when the lights went out. A child named jonas will be born again. It would seem Hannah was influenced by an alternate reality. I mean the creators certainly did this to keep it ambiguous and dark at the very least, which is consistent with the entire show. That can taken very literally... but based on his conversation with 'alt martha' while touching her face (in the same gesture so common in show) -- He actually HAD some element of foresight. Whatever that truly means in the show. He was immediately threatened by the Origin in the wagon -- ie he could not see their future, and was struck by true terror. . Where I'm going with this is -- Maybe it's not about the Woller's accident -- The mystery of it. Maybe it's the fact that he was partially blind (and we all know how much the importance of dark and light -- even in physical property) gave me some element of 'quantum uncertainty -- or foresight' in Woller while his eyes are wounded... but that was Eva's method's -- the entanglement. And part of the ending... Woller's reactions to Clausen's sharp connections in S2 caused Woller great concern in almost every shot afterward (for personal -- but it could be seen as more -- as if HE is having Deja-vu, or a message from beyond...but that breaks a few things too. His sense of 'uncertainty' with one eye is a state -- and with information of both eyes, we'd collapse they mystery wave function. . TL:DR -- there's a bit more to it, but the HOW isn't the mystery.

I started getting nervous as the last episode was nearing its end. I thought that Jonas and Martha were the ones that cause the car crash and because of that they were doomed forever to be stuck in this vicious loop and never ending cycle. The problem is some people can't digest a happy ending. The loop ended in the end and everyone born due to the loop doesn't exists any more. Now coming to the 2 questions that why Hannah takes the name 'Jonas' and why she also experience a 'deja vu'.... Well there is my theory 1. It was Hannah herself in the 1st world who named her son Jonas, it was her choice, the idea of that name came from her mind. In the 3rd universe that's the same Hannah, yes she has experienced many other things which she may not has faced in the 1st world but that doesn't changed the idea of naming her son Jonas. It is as simple as that. I believe if more dark universe exists in the dark multiverse, then everytime Hannah will name her son Jonas. 2. It is not clear till date that why we experience deja vu, multiverse theorists believes we experience deja vu because we are actually facing or faced the same incident in an other universe of the multiverse. As oer them our subconscious mind is always connected to every other versions of ourself in the multiverse. So Hannan's one self has already experienced all the incidents so that is why she is experiencing the deja vu.

Here's more to confuse you. The whole monologue at the beginning of last episode about Schroedinger cat experiment where he said that two reality can co exists . What if the time machine we saw in the episode is not actually a time machine but some kind of quantum device which he created to travel from one reality to another, the reality in which his family is alive like cat was alive in one reality similar to that. But he failed and not only split the origin world into two but also created another reality where origin world 2 came into existence and both world co-exist side by side..

@@Daymickey He creates the time machine first in the origin world, and when he activates it, it "destroys" his world and splits it in to 2 other worlds (though the origin world could still be accessed using the loophole at the point at which it all technically started despite no longer being there, it had to exist at some point in "time" for the loop to begin). Even though in those 2 worlds his family is still dead, he was still given Charlotte, so maybe that was reason enough for him to not focus on building a time machine in the 2 main worlds, because he'd put his work over his children before and lost them and didn't want the same thing to happen with Charlotte. That at least explains why he doesn't pursue time travel in the 2 worlds in the same way he did in the Origin world, where they all died and he had nothing left to lose.

It should end with the "origin" world being tied in the cycle with the other 2, EITHER as: option 1. Martha and Jonas travelling to the origin world are what caused the car crash in the first place option 2. There are 2 cycles just like in the other 2 worlds -> first cycle is what we see in the last scene of the last episode (Regina alive and happy etc.) and the second cycle is Tannhaus building machine again because their family died again (because there is no Jonas and Martha to save them, because they have been erased). Both of these ties everything perfectly in a nice loop (unknown to Claudia). I understand it would make a lot of people unhappy but it's not supposed to do that. It's supposed to make sense, just like previous 2 seasons, where EVERYTHING made sense and could be logically explained. Third season kinda ruins it. We've been told through TWO FULL SEASONS that everything always happens the same again and again in a neat closed loop. That's why the origin world theory doesn't make sense. Tannhaus' family CANNOT be saved indefinitely if other two worlds suddenly stopped existing. That's why the origin world has to be in a loop with the other two worlds. Personally, I would be happy if it didn't have a happy ending, because not every show should have one, and this one definitely shouldn't. The tone of "Dark" was DARK the entire time and it should have stayed DARK :)) I'm afraid that by trying to please the fans by creating a happy ending they ruined a bit what would be the best tv series of all time (I still love it and the ending didn't ruin it that much but it left a bit of disappointment for me)

Oh, I think the show just fooled a lot of people and the ending IS fairly dark. I think you're right, there are now two versions of the origin world: one with an alive Tannhaus family, and one where they are dead. I think that something else happens in the version where they are alive, where someone goes back in time. Time plays itself out again, but now Jonas and Martha aren't there to save the Tannhaus family. Tannhaus goes back in time...all the crazyness we just watched happens again, and Jonas and Martha save the Tannhaus family again. The fact that Jonas and Martha could remember seeing each other in the closets and remember it in the present HEAVILY hints that saving the Tannhaus family is a loop unto itself. There is also the odd fact that Papa Tannhaus mentions they were run off the road...I wonder who might have been motivated to do that...

Hey, that's the same I've been telling my friends since the show's end, it's the same theory. However there are yet a few more details! When Jonas 1 and Martha 2 were in the time/space flux (the blue thing) they see themselves which prove that's in a loop. Also, they begin there separated until they bump at each other, where they then find the entrance to the 3rd world. That place had 3 dimensions and they were each walking through an axis: jonas 1 was walking the world 2 axis while martha was walking the world 1 axis (since they see each other). They bump when they reach the origin, and there find the 3rd axis. NOTE that the 3 axis represent the 3 worlds and they all have the same origin; that's also what the triquetra represents in my opinion :). So at the end this all makes sense to me BUT there're still some points missing like "what happened to baby charlotte that vanished on the car accident on the 3rd world?" that may yet bring more answers to the blank spaces in the theory.

That user says we are all oversimplifying the ending but it’s clear he’s overcomplicating it. The concept of the deja vu was discussed by Jonas and Martha before the first time travel happened in their time lines. Deja vus are not attached to time travels nor was it ever hinted they meant some inter dimensional connection between characters from different worlds. The name Jonas could have come from any other experience she had in all those realities. The only thing holding this theory in my opinion is the fact that nothing can be changed so paradoxically changing it causes its existence. That is pretty convincing, the rest not so much.

Actually I think there are two parallel realities of the original world - the one where Tannhaus’ son lives and the other one where Tannhaus’ son dies. In the reality where his son dies, he invents the time machine and unknowingly creates the Jonas and Martha worlds. Which in turn goes on looping again and again, until Jonas and Martha decides to travel back to the original world, stopping Tannhaus’ son from dying, thus creating the second reality of the original world. This is evident from the fact that the younger selves of Jonas and Martha were able to see each other’s older selves in the time space, in their closets, implying this is in fact a part of the bigger loop, which keeps on repeating. Jonas and Martha disappeared after saving Tannhaus’ son because they’re no longer a part of this reality. But there still exists a reality where they’re still alive and continuing the loop. In fact, all these things happened so that Tannhaus can save his son in a different reality.

Like you say in your video there can be several original realities too, like origin a and origin b, one where the son dies the other where he lives. So 1c and 2c create origin b. Martha and Jonas stopping the accident is only possible because Tannhaus created the time machine after losing his son. So if he never creates the time machine Martha and Jonas can never stop the accident. It's a new never ending loop of 2 alternative realities. The only way to get "back to normal" would be to let the accident happen and not create the time machine. The moment it exists there is no going 'back'.

I'm almost certain about one thing that the Jonas born out in this world out of Hannah won't be same Jonas.. As That Jonas could only be born out of Hannah after she married Mikkel(Michael khanwald).. Yeah but I surely think there is a bootstrap paradox happening there, it might be a loophole in the story, The Jonas and Martha had to take a birth and go through all those things to be able to come to the origin world to stop Tannhau's family from dying.. So even do that world ends there, but it must have lived before that time to be able to prevent itself from being created thus there must be a world where Tannhau's family dies so the two worlds of Adam and Eva got created.. So maybe there's a knot that's holding these two worlds like Adam and Eva's world and that knot must exist so that this world gets saved everytime cause of infinite loop by Jonas and Martha Or maybe Tannhau's was able to undo the Death of his family and atlast he was successful but for that a new world was created where already a Tannhau's exist and his family is saved by the efforts of Tannhau whose family died. So for each change in any timeline, a whole new world was created, first where the things happen usual and second world where change happened and thus it would lead in different direction caused by that change( it's like every cause leads to an effect). I just saw the whole series for the first time and my analysis is this: lts clear to me that what happened is they just found a new origin, a new way to start all over again. When they save the Tannhaus couple they need to exist in order achieve it. Therefore the whole loop needs to start all over again for them to save the couple and the baby. Another thing I noticed is the way they "dissappear". Its the same vissual effect they use when they travel through time with the devices. I think what happened was a complete and full reset to start all over again.

I think you are right when you say, that all three worlds are part of the node and that they produce each other. I found two more evidence for this idea: 1. In the last episode when Jonas and Martha are in this in-between-world, they both see a younger version of each other and after that they both remember that they have seen each other earlier in their life in this exact situation. That means, that this exact situation already happend before and that it did not lead to the end of their existence, so it is just a situation as so many other situations that seem to be an escape but are no escape in fact. Because if the ending would be the ending and not a new beginning, it had to be the first time and thus nobody could have remembered it. 2. As the show points out everything happens the exact same way every time. That means all persons act in the same way, again and again and again. But that actually means, that Claudia as well behaves always in the same way, so Claudia from Adam's world always kills her doppelganger, investigates both worlds, finds evidence for the existance of the third world and ties the strings which leads to Jonas and Claudia ending up in the third world and preventing the death of the young couple. It is said, that the cycle has started again many, many times. Combined with the fact, that Claudia always behaves in the same way this leads to the fact, that the ending is no escape from the node, it is in fact just another part of the endless puzzle, of which neither we nor the protagonists have enough knowledge to really understand it.

I assumed it was a loop because Hannah never dissapeared. Her death was the birth of Adam. She wouldn't have been alive to disintegrate, and we know this is the case for all previous looks because of Noah's existence, hence in all previous loops Adam took Silja to the future... etc. Also, it fits my previous theory that Woller lost his eye to a falling bird. When the time machine went off, he looked up and got hit with a falling bird and hence... his eye injury is the direct result of time travel shenanigans.

Tannhaus is still driven to discover time travel and on his first trip gets stuck in 1850s where he then starts the loop again founding “tannhaus” and the first iteration of sic mundus. Light flickered in the split worlds because the nuclear plant helped the electricity to get back immediately. But we all know that the nuclear plant was established because Jonas & Martha's son compelled the city mayor to sign the permission. That means, in the origin world, there is no nuclear plant. So, light directly goes off without flickering (in the last scene). That's why it leaves a possibility that even though light doesn't flicker, the time travel still occurs whatsoever.

Here is another theory for you guys. Given how fucked hannah's character is. She might have cheated michael with woller and ended up giving birth to jonas. The reason this didn't happen in eva's world is because she didnt had any reason to cheat as she already had ulrich with him. Remember in the last episode, claudia was also seen vanished. Meaning that everyone of the split timeline, no matter if he/she was born because of loop or not, will disappear. So jonas also had to disappear with everyone else. So in short jonas will also born in the original world as he is eventually son of woller and hannah. Thats why in the end hannah was saying that she always thought of naming his son "jonas".I mean she could also be giving birth to a girl but she specifically pointed the baby to be boy.

They've been hinting at what motivations the main characters have when they built the time machines. A strong emotional connection to a deceased family member, what else was happening in the original world was it really spilt up in two? Or the apocalypse we seen in both world also happened in the origin world. If they did really split up into two does that mean everyone who died in the origin world had their personalities split between the two worlds. So the act of creating the time machine inadvertently recreated a double slit experiment, where the original world is sent through the slit(time machine) and comes out in two or more parallel lines.

I don't have any complains as these are just theories and you never know maybe things would go exactly what happened in the last. Maybe Jonas will get dissappeard along with Martha after their world ends but if their existence got nill in first place then where did that Jonas and Martha came who appeared before Tannhau's family in the middle of road and stopped his son, Cause even though now the creation of their world doesn't happen but they are the reasons behind that. And that would always happen the same way through the course of time. C’mon. I respect the clickbait hustle. Maybe the analytics showed the DARK clips had some heat and you wanted to keep the fire burning. But...No. This one sniffs of 3 minutes of desperation stretched into 10 for the ad money. The whole notion in DARK that people could be their own parents or descendants was the bit that required the most suspension of disbelief. It’s just not how genetics work. But at least in those cases they were people within the same family tree. The chromosomes were there to mix and match. In this case, regardless of what she names her kid, it cannot grow up to be “Jonas” because half his DNA does not exist. His father is a completely different person from a completely different line, because the other was completely erased from existence. Jonas 2.0 could just as easily be Donnie Darko. If you want to believe he found another reason to make a time machine, or that the power went out because Jonas and Martha arrived in the original universe to get their happy ending, sure, why not. I doubt the showrunners would refute either. But what made the show impressive was not only did they manage to untangle all the knots and account for every loose end - which had to have been a logistical nightmare - they also, against all odds, made a “the 36 hours of TV you watched never happened” ending feel satisfying. Normally people want to throw a chair at the screen when that happens. So saying “Wuh-hah! But it was only ANOTHER loop *outside* the loop!” would not just spoil that achievement, it would be flipping the bird to their audience on their way out the door.

Speaking of dna how can there be two Tronte from two different Agnes ? Does some artificial insemination happen from the same embryo on the other Agnes ? Else how can the same sexual cells from the unknown and two Agnes create the same Tronte two times at different moments ?

i don't think there's any role of DNA here... this was Time Travel.. and they are showing a Paradox.. meaning it never ends.. some way or the other.. IT WILL HAPPEN. i think that's the end scene telling us.. that no matter how you try to break it.. it will eventually happen... maybe without some of the characters.. it will happen again..

In the begginig of the 3rd season we had 2 worlds (with or without Jonas) and 2 masterminds (Adam and Eva). Each mastermind is oldest timetraveler in their world and don"t have a copy because they kill each other copies during the time loop. It's their's war keep timeloop spinning. But everything in dark comes in 3. So there is 3rd world. It has 3rd mastermind (Claudia). She is the 3rd oldest timetraveler, she killed her copy herself. She work toward 3rd world in witch her daughter is alive. I'm not surprised time loop may be still going strong. I'm concerned that Adam and Eva folded too fast. Maybe they become complacent in their knolledge of 2 worlds. Adam wanted to destroy time loop but keep preserving it until the end. Martha swears to destroy this cycle but makes it stronger and became Eva. Claudia all her life seek the way to break the cycle and maybe starts it. The beginning is the end. The end may be the beginning.

Another evidence in that way is when Jonas and Martha are in the in between world, their see each other kids seeing something in a closed. The "it was you" form Martha tells us this is already happened.

I think that the ending is just part of a bigger loop,there is one reality where Martha and jonas stop the car crash and one reality where they don’t,because they are needed to exist in order to prevent the car crash,the reality in which they don’t prevent it leads to tanhaus creating the time machine,which eventually leads them to stop the car crash,it’s all part of a bigger loop,the only thing is that they are not aware of the bigger loop because they get erased from existence and born again when tanhaus creates the time machine.they are not aware that even if they erase themselves they would be born again.

@Cryss There is also another thing unnoticed there is a scene in the last episode when the baby of SONJA and MAREK is shown... if u pause and zoom the video you can see a cleft in her upper lip... this clears that that baby changed gender in the other worlds like SONJA and MAREK and became the UNKNOWN.. 😇

An alternative view might be that, given that alt-Martha’s path gets split into two (save Jonas / go with Bartosz), who’s to say there aren’t many more splits possible. Maybe the infinity loop should really be seen as a Lorenz system (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenz_system#/media/File%3AA_Trajectory_Through_Phase_Space_in_a_Lorenz_Attractor.gif) but run over three axes

The authors seem to be leaning towards splits in the time in IMHO on multiple levels like the Lorenz system, which are deterministic and closed, But I don't think the events in Dark are a closed loop or knot as the video suggests. They could be on a larger level though. Thanks for the Wiki link.

Wait. Ur right at one point, but there is a difference. The last scene takes place in 1986. Tanhaus creates the machine and runs it and the 2 worlds were created . It might be that point when he runs the machine and there is a Power cut and rain before it was all doomed, like Hannah SAS9 at the end.

One idea here, as there is no power plant in the origin world then no god particle and therefore no new loop being created. Simply put, the end is just what it looks like with maybe some echoes of Adam and Eva's worlds into the origin world. I personally prefer this ending rather than trying to make things too convoluted. Just my views.

I think that one of the main ideas of the show which is why they mentioned shrodingers cat, is the following. The fact that the cat is both alive and dead but you can't tell until it is observed. Therefore us as viewers had only been observing the world under which tanhaus son dies. Which is why there is even an episode where they show the apocalypse happen in the last season. Then in the last episode the viewer will observe the world in which tanhause son lives breaking the loop in the other worlds. Meaning thats the entanglement we as viewers are experiencing. Hope what I said made sense.
