I don't know if California has a statute of limitations on attempted murder, but New Jack pretty much confessed that he was trying to kill Vic Grimes when he threw him off of the scaffold in XPW. I'd say throwing a guy from that height is a substantial step towards killing a guy (pardon the legalese; I'm a prosecutor), and he said that his intent was to kill Grimes. I'd be very surprised if there's a statute of limitations on attempted murder in California where the incident took place. So New Jack may have opened himself up to prosecution by saying what he said.
