Love the 73 Torino. My brother in law had one with 400 in it. Was a fun car until the wiring caught fire due to bad radio and amp install. That was in 1983 don’t know if that car got sold or scrapped. They had a 1970 grabber green Mach 1 also 351 and never ran was basket case. In my youth I never witnessed someone rebuilding a car as they were cheap and disposable then. 2 years later the muscle car market picked up. I have repaired and rebuilt a lot of cars since my late teens. 1st engine swap was a 78 Mach1 had it running with my friends by 7am. We didn’t start until midnight. Wish I could go back and grab a couple of cars my family had.

@dukecraig2402Ай бұрын
Understanding how those production lines worked I don't understand how that would have been possible, the way everything was choreographed to get everything to show up at the right places for each model as they came down the assembly line, along with the fact that the engine's being serial numbered and accounted for I just can't see it, too many things would have to be changed, it wouldn't be simple as just putting that engine in a chassis that was set up for another engine, even things like the front springs would be wrong and the front end would sag under the weight of a 428 in a car that had springs for a SBF engine, there'd be clearance issues with stuff, the exhaust wouldn't bolt up, power steering lines and electrical cables wouldn't work. I'm calling BS on that one, they got employee discounts on the cars anyway, they probably got a performance package car at the price everyone else got a base model for which is more like the truth that got morphed into that story by the time it gets told from one bar stool to the next, by the time truth gets across town it turns into that fable.
@stephenquinn9730Ай бұрын
Ford ended up fitting the 428 SCJ into just 48 Twister Specials, while the other 48 received the new four-barrel Cleveland, a 351-ci (5.8-liter) that made 300 hp (224 kW) and 385 lb-ft (522 Nm) of torque.

100% agree, I think it's great his dedication to preserving these cars but obviously he's got too many for them to all be treated correctly, when they've got weeds growing out of the engine bays it's time to let them go at affordable prices to get them into the hands of people who'll get them in a garage and start on them, or at least to stop the rotting process. When it gets to the point where they're looking at cars that have weeds growing out of the engine bays that enough for me, not only am I not excited by something like that I hate to see it.
