Nice Mustang I've been rebuilding Fox bodies for years. Ford never made anything called a notch though. It's a two-door Coupe!

Worse is the modern Super Duty "key in buzzer" chime. Whenever I do a vehicle inspection at a vendor for one of those, I have to pull the key out of the ignition. LOL.

Love it. my 1st 5.0 was a 79 Cobra hatch with a 4 spd. Soo simple, no AC just with pull vents for air. Different era for sure.

That's awesome, that holley sniper setup is exactly how I want my Pacecar. Something that has much better driveability and power than stock, but still can give the appearance of a stock setup. This car is phenomenal.

wow. Just wow. The 4 headlight models, with early tail lights, and being a coupe. It's my #1 pick whenever someone asks me what my favorite foxbody is. And In this shape? Juist...Wow. Amazing to see. Also love the upgrades it has, just to make it better. But i really wish it had smaller rims just to make it look a bit more stock though.

I think this thing is the pinnacle of the malaise era! I can’t believe how different it is to my ‘86 notch.

I had a 79 Ghia 5.0 4 speed, TRX, white leather gut notch back in the day. Missed that car so much I rescued an 86 base coupe from the junkyard which I currently have and runs awesome.

It's surely in nice shape for the age and well taken care of, that's for sure. The production date is up at the top of the door decal in the left top corner. As others pointed out, that's "deep pile" carpeting, not shag. Shag was more what you would find in a 10th Anniversary Trans Am (22 oz Tiffany carpet by J.P. Stevens) or in a Cadillac of that vintage. With the VIN, we win: 9 for 1979 model year, F for Dearborn, MI assembly, 04 for Mustang Ghia coupe, F for 302 CID V8 with two barrel and the rest is the production sequence. The Dearborn MI plant assembled Mustangs up through the end of the 2004 model year. Today's Rouge Complex encompasses whatever is left of the old Dearborn plant. Since the 2005 model year, Mustangs have been assembled at the Flat Rock, MI plant. In various years, they could have been assembled at Dearborn (2nd digit of "F" in the VIN as seen here), Metuchen, NJ ("T" code, the plant closed in 2004, also called Edison Assembly), or San Jose, CA ("R" code, also called Milpitas Assembly, closed in 1983). With the tag, you can brag: 83 for Light Chamois exterior paint, 66H for Mustang Ghia two door coupe, possible 4T for Brown/tan vinyl top, possible 10L for Tuesday, October 10, 1978 production scheduling/completion, ST for tan vinyl interior trim, A for factory installed air conditioning, 4 is for AM-FM MPX radio without CB, so the 8 track may have been dealer installed, B for 2.47:1 rear axle, non-locking, 4 for C-4 automatic transmission, and 56 for possible Davenport, IA sales district. I'd rather have (and I own) a 1979 Trans Am than a 1979 Mustang. You could get 4-wheel disc brakes in a Trans Am in 1979, a bigger engine, better options, and overall due to it being the last year for the 400 CID V8 (which is what I have), more collectable. Yes, the 1979 Mustang was new and the 1979 Trans Am was dated, but the Mustangs wouldn't start getting "good" until fuel injection came along. A 1979 Mustang with a 302 was pretty anemic, but back then, nothing was a rocket ship out of the box, although my 1979 Trans Am holds its own.

Had a 1980 T-Bird. Drk brown with this color vinyl top and interior. Actually pretty fun car. Good milage on highway, and enough power. Wish I could buy it new today!! If I remember correctly it had the 4.2 V8, and the 4 sp. AOD worked perfectly. The tail light lenses did fall off though. Had to bolt them on! Lol

Very cool, The very first fox I saw when I was a little kid was a 79 Ghia coupe in the same color combo. My neighbor bought it for himself, the year before he bought his wife a 78 Ghia that was the light chamois over dark chamois paint scheme. They really liked that ugly color, lol. This one brought back some memories for sure!

That's awesome. That's kind of what I'm leaning towards for my future project cars. Just something that's old, but nice. Chasing performance has been nothing but a headache for me. My first car was a '79 Ghia notchback. It was white with a chamois interior. The outside was rusty but the inside was still pretty nice. It had the I-6 though, so it was ridiculously slow. At the time (1994) I hated the interior color, the fake wood... I couldn't wait to get something else, haha. I did have some fun swapping in interior parts from '83-86 cars which were PLENTIFUL in boneyards at the time.

Correct. It's deep pile. Shag is like "poodle hair" on a poodle type dog. Deep, and very soft fibers. Those fibers are rougher cut.
