This may be an unpopular opinion but I think the reason slams are not used too much in the UFC is because having padded ground makes them ineffective but I think the reason why Crazyhorse has implemented them so much and his style is because he comes from a background of street fighting and I think in that scenario he would actually be a lot better in a fight than many of the fighters that defeated him because getting slammed onto concrete is a whole different world of pain

I think he was more focused on entertainment than technique. He had slams that set him up for submissions that he either didn’t know or didn’t use. He was always fun to watch. He puts himself in bad situations because it’s a bigger highlight.

Sucker punch or not, putting Wanderlai to sleep is something not many people can claim to have done. Crazy Horse had some wicked fast twitch muscle and reflexes, he generated a lot of power for a smallish fighter. I remember watching the Gomi fight at the time, he had more trouble with Crazy Horse than a lot of other opponents.

He was pretty contentious on screen and off if he didn't like someone, and was happy to throwdown whenever. So sucker punch it may have been, but I'd be willing to bet an exchange of words preempted it, in which case it's just that Crazy Horse threw the first punch, and apparently a good one. It's not like he crept up behind Wanderlei and smacked him in the back of the head unexpectedly. Not to mention the whole entourage both fighters had milling around at all times. For whatever reason there was already bad blood there.

This was before Wanderlei ever got knocked out, before his chin went. Charles only beat like 1 of 2 people with good records. 95% of his wins come from guys with badly losing records. Charles may have a punchers chance... but how many 1 punch knockouts does he have in his career? None, probably. Yet somehow he gets one against Wanderlei Prime? Not buying it. It was a sucker punch, a fluke knockout in addition. It would never happen that way twice. When he jumped Wanderlei's teammate, he got choked out. He was angry. He sucker punched Wanderlei. Wanderlei miraculously went out. Charles ran from him that day and then ran from him 10 years later or they probably would have fought for real.

I train in Columbus GA. I saw a guy that looked like him training in my gym so i said to one of my coaches “hey have you noticed that guy looks like the mma fighter crazy horse.” My coach turned to me slowly almost confused and said “Bruh THAT IS THE SAME GUY.
