I was born in Qinghai-Tibet plateau and it is interesting that after so many years living in uk/Europe, I realised I have always been so attached to the mountains, and all the places I loved most like Scotland, Norway and Iceland reminded so much of my hometown. Thank you for the videos and also lovely to see Flo(as right now I am in his homeland and will hike in Nationalpark Schwarzwald from tomorrow - ich freue mich😎)

I guess the true majesty and grandeur of a country can be deduced from the fact that even a 10km traffic jam provides opportunities to explore and engage rather than rant and rave as happens on Western Roads. Then to have such a multitude of cultures, peoples and languages co-existing hamoniously, each having the opportunity to celebrate their unique identities is truly multicultural and provides China its growth and strength.

😁The owner of this channel is a toe licker for Communist, 😁Why don't you show the cesspit of mainland China where a dozen students live in a dormitory that doesn't even have a bathroom? However, the Chinese Communist Party provides free luxury dormitories to black African students and gives each of them 30,000 yuan per month for living expenses.

That’s why I love it seeing these kinds of videos, of places that is not main city of China, but back roads or countryside of China through the provinces areas. In other words, places that not too many people would think of going, if some don’t know where to go or start in. If I were to go to China, I rather go to where you have shown us, with someone who also know to translate for me in few of the dialects that is unknown to me.

17:30. Usually at the front of Tibetan temples, you will find pictures of 8 Auspicious symbols, or 7 Precious of Chakravartin/monastic/Royal possession/power, or some Jataka stories that encourage harmonious living. In this video you showed are mixed of them, No.1 is Gelug Lama(yellow Hat) and Dharma Conch as basic establishment of 5 precepts. No.2 is Jataka story about Four animals living harmoniously helping each other, which are Elephant, Monkey, Rabbit/hare and a bird. No3. (i agree) is Laozi which refers to Precious Minister (Wise Counselor) as one of 7 Royal power. No.4. is precious Elephant. No 5. Pair of Golden Fishes (combined Dharma Wheel), is symbol of healthy inner breathing cycle (moon and sun channel) and also meaning healthy of environmental water cycle from ocean by rain to mountain down again through river. No.6 unclear.. cheeers

" i feel you Yan " ... those traffic jam. Once , coming back from Mountain tour with friends down to metroplis where we live and work , we encountered traffic jam too. Our supposed 6 hour evening trip , just in time for monday 8- 5 work , ends into 24 hour trip , for same reason , an accident of trucks occured kilometers from us. We all get hungry and was absent from work . Still its worthy and memorable highland tour.😊

It is common to have traffic jam. Tibet is geographically isolated region due its harsh terrain. Not a lot of roads into Tibet. Among four major one, only one is suitable for transportation. The others are closed during winter season so think. All commodities need to be transported into Tibet.

I happen to have some knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism. Regarding the mural you mentioned, there are two possibilities. The first one is related to a depiction of the Buddha, Shakyamuni, delivering teachings with a resounding voice that reverberates in all directions, likened to the sound of a conch shell. In Tibetan Buddhist rituals today, conch shells, especially the white ones, are often blown, symbolizing this auspicious sound. The second possibility is associated with a ritual before receiving an empowerment, where practitioners must drink water containing vows from a conch shell. They pledge that if they violate their vows, the water in their stomachs will ignite, and they will fall into a hell called Vajra Hell, specifically designed for tantric practitioners. This hell is extremely difficult to escape, even more so than the uninterrupted hell. The Buddha cannot save them; only their root guru, the ultimate spiritual teacher, who has attained Buddhahood, can ultimately liberate them. In my opinion, the first possibility is highly likely.

Yan, I am a big fan of your vlogs and recommend them to others as an alternative take on China. While it's great that you have an inspiring boyfriend, I suggest you need to be careful how prominent Flo is in your videos. The reason I like watching is that you are Chinese and can give another perspective on the places you visit. You also have a deep, intuitive respect for the people you meet. There is little sense that you are the 'observer'. So many other travelogues have the 'outsider looking in', slightly patronising tone. Yours are more like a friend who has popped in for tea. Flo's opinion feels more like a European observational commentary. Best wishes to you both.

That was quite a traffic jam!! I am jealous that your roads are in great condition. Here in the UK, we would love to have the same level of being looked after!! Again, such wonderful scenic landscapes with so many different peoples within the region. You mentioned there were 3 types of Tibetan people, each with their own language and version of teachings. Am I correct that there are similarities that allow them to communicate with each other? Thank you to you both for your continued sharing of China. Have a wonderful week ahead!!
