Miyako plays more melodic and Midori plays more technically/faster. Miyako said that Midori was faster than her. Can't imagine if they play "Dissonance" in live. Songs like Break The Wall and Dissonance should be played at major metal festivals because Lovebites know how to make a good metal songs 🤘 Lovebites always metal 🤘

While this and other Lovebites songs show contrast between the guitarists, the new album leans toward interchangeability between Miyako and Midori. There will still be contrast in their sound, but Miyako really worked on getting the same technical speed as Midori during their hiatus. It is not always easy to distinguish one from the other in their recording.

BREAK THE WALL sounds a lot like the early music of SLAYER (~35 years ago), and the dissonant section of MODORI’s solo draws direct inspiration from JEFF HANNEMAN (RIP) and KERRY KING. The twist comes with MIYAKO’s melodic solo, which evokes the sensuous playing of GARY MOORE (or maybe LIGHTING/PUPPETS era KIRK HAMMETT). The funky breakdown, however sounds like early METALLICA.

As difficult as it is to pick a 'favorite' Lovebites song...Break The Wall is it for me. The hard drive of the song leads into Midori's killer 'all-over-the-place' solo, Miho's soulful 'buttery smooth' solo, Miyako's incredible 'ballad style' solo, and then driving it hard again to the end...EPIC! These ladies are truly unbelievable. Well done...BRAVO! 🤘

There are a lot of bands with great guitarists. There have been few with the luxury of two great guitarists. I go all the way back to Allman/Betts and Allman/Clapton, and I’ve never heard another song with two solos that were so great yet so different. This captures perfectly the contrasting styles and personalities of the two guitarists-Midori the extrovert and shredding demon, Miyako the introvert and goddess of blues (who can also shred when she feels like it). I was already hooked on Lovebites, and sold on the dual leads, but this is the song that convinced me just how great they are. Really nothing like them, ever.

I suspect there's another reason why Miyako is playing a Les Paul here. When LB played this song during their previous live DVD release, "Daughters of the Dawn," Miyako used her Dean Switchblade ML and the bends during the chorus didn't sound right. Since she typically only uses that guitar for songs tuned to drop D, my theory is that the Les Paul was brought in to be the drop D guitar for this song and the one previous, "Raise Some Hell," because she finds it easier to consistently hit those bends on the LP than it is on the Dean.

Loved the reaction! Great song. I am so glad to find out I'm not the only one who knows Les Pauls are more difficult to play, like you said, especially fast. A good friend sold me his Kramer Focus 3000, back in 1983, because daddy bought him a Les Paul Custom. He wasn't to good of a player already and, to his surprise, he got 'worse' with the LP. I, on the other hand, became one with that Kramer, and still play it today. It practically plays itself. I love the sound of a Les Paul (through a Marshall stack 😉). They are great guitars; in the right hands. Just not mine, nor my friend's.

I've never found a Gibson I liked and saw as a longtime choice. I have a friend who loves the look and has tried to make it work with a few different models, the Explorer especially, but he always ends up trading them in and going back to his Deans. And hey, don't hate on someone buying a loved one a guitar. My wife imported a Zemaitis MFG24 for me two years ago and it plays as great as it looks.

I think I've heard Miyakos solo is a tribute to Gary Moore, one of the greatest guitarists of all time. There's also a video around where she covers his song "Parisienne walkways". He also used to play Les Pauls a lot, especially in later times, so this might be another reason for her 🙂 Kirk Hammett was able to buy one of his ones after Moores death and is very proud of it.

Some of their songs are still hit-or-miss for me even though I have certainly gotten more used to their style of power metal, but this track (and their thrashier tracks in general) are right up my alley. Asami's vocals also tend to be a little on the lower side of her register in these thrashier tracks which fits a bit better with my personal preferences. And while I probably like "Set the World on Fire" a tiny bit more, both of them are very high up my favourites list by Lovebites. This is a great track for sure.

Another great reaction, Wave. The solos in this song are excellent. You get crazy shredder Midori and melodic Miyako. The staccato and the bends of Miyako prove what a great guitarist she is. The Gibson is the perfect guitar for a song like this. MakoDori is my favorite guitar duo of all time. Miho is so underrated. She always did the little things on bass that really enhances a song. Haruna will always amaze. Asami's voice and stage presence are excellent.

Mr Potter! Took you long enough. It is, BY FAR, my favourite Lovebites piece, and when I say "piece" it deserves that pronoun. Its almost symphonic nature pulls you along and even gives you time to rest before it goes for the climax and ends just as abruptly as it started, typical Lovebites fare.

Love this song, and I really enjoyed your reaction, Wave. The Les Paul definitely lends a weightier, more complex sound which is perfect for Miyako's lyrical solo. (I think it is this same guitar that produces a dissonant feedback in their Ride for Vengeance live DVD. Occasionally it sounds more intrusive than intentional, but I am not a guitarist so I don't know for sure.) The other thing about this particular clip: I laugh when Asami is trying to get the audience to shush on every other back beat during the heavy instrumental interlude. She tries everything, but seems overcome with amusement that the audience will do whatever...
@fikryhasan5225

This song warms an old school Thrash Metal fan's heart and is one of my overall favourite songs by Lovebites, especially this live version! Since it seems you really liked the main riff, I would like to ask you to check out Testament's song "Over the Wall" (the opening track on their debut "The Legacy", which was my favourite release back in 1987) and in particular the riff you hear for the first time about 36 seconds into the official videoclip of this song - I tried to post a link, but it seems this gets my comment immediately blocked. One must be deaf not to hear any similiarities, also as regards the overall sound, the difference being that I think Lovebites live production has a better sound than Testament's studio production and while Lovebites has Midori and Miyako, Testament only have got one Alex Skolnick. I don't expect you to do a reaction to that song, but please do listen to it for yourself! As regards the slow part and Miyako's solo in this song, it has finally dawned on me why some people bring up Metallica in connection with this song, because the character of this part reminds of the slow "interlude" (not sure, if this is the correct expression) in the song "Master of Puppets". And I also agree with those who say that the organ part in the background in the second half of this song could be seen as some kind of respectful nod in the direction of Jon Lord.

I agree. The first time I heard LB was Set the World on Fire, then Thunder Vengeance...then Break the Wall. I always heard Testament first. Then maybe someone could say Slayer or Metallica...but my first impression from the riffs to the aggression of the songs themselves was always Testament.🔥
@MissLoonasSpeech
@MissLoonasSpeech Жыл бұрын
@@jprules2578 The first song I heard (out of the three songs you mentioned) was "Break the Wall", and I immediately thought of "Over the Wall". My guess why far more people mention that this song reminds them of Slayer (or Metallica) than Testament is that they simply haven't heard Testament (and in particular "The Legacy"). You can't recognize an influence you have never heard before. It might as well be that there are influences in other songs by Lovebites I haven't recognized yet, simply because I'm not familiar with them.

@MaartenT

Probably because making videos cost a lot of money. Gacharic Spin's last MV was a long time ago (I Wish I is close to 2 years ago and they put out that short version of Forever 9teen 11 monnths ago) and my guess is that they left Victor (same label as Lovebites has) for a reason. Also, don't forget that Lovebites were on a hiatus, they actually have put out 2 MV's in a short timespan. Using streamed livestreamcontent like Gachiarc Spin has been doing is obviously cheaper (and it probably isn't property of the label like an MV or content of a Blu-ray is), but there isn't a lot of that from Lovebites as far as I'm aware and bands typically prefer not to put all the songs of their Blu-rays online for free. They rather sell those copies instead.

Any Japanese band that gets covered by Western reactors or media is a good thing for all the other Japanese bands including Lovebites. There is no "us-or-them" in this instance, it doesn't matter if you like them or not, it makes people realize there is plenty of music to check out in Japan. Nothing wrong with you apparently only liking Lovebites, but there is no reason to attack other bands or fans. It's comments like this that will keep some reactors from reacting to Lovebites because they don't want the drama. I have seen it on the recent Babymetal reaction of "The Charismatic Voice" as well and it's honestly a bad look for the whole fanbase. And I know for a fact that there are some great peope in the Wolfpack with whom I had interesting discussions even if our taste in music doesn't completely match. There is also a lot of overlap between the fanbases of different bands. It's a shame too because I honestly think a Lovebites song would be great on her channel. I don't know enough about how these comment raids get managed, but they clearly are. Please tell the people who manage these to try and temper the type of comments people give. There is nothing wrong with trying to get people to listen to a band you love, but attacking other fanbases is probably not a good way to go about it. It will drive reactors away from the band you love, not make them fans. It will also reflect bad on the band. I have said it in some comments under that reaction as well, but you can say you don't like something without being attacking or uncivilized. If I say something like: I have never been a huge fan of most power metal. I am not really a fan of epic sounding music and these type of melodies and I personally prefer lower vocals over higher ones. But they are clearly great musicians, I can completely understand why people love them so much, they are just not for me. Almost no fan will feel attacked. I have said things like that in the past and I have gotten great conversations out of it (the same for other fanbases btw). The most important thing is to stay polite and not attack someone because they have a different taste from you. Taste is subjective, there is no right or wrong. There also isn't something like "bad or mediocre art". Btw, I have gotten used to their sound over time and I enjoy a good bunch of their tracks now and love a couple of them (including this one). I have also bought most of their physical releases. But I doubt they will ever be among my top favourite Japanese bands just because their pure power metal tracks are just not for me. It's the same with bands like Unlucky Moprheus and Mary's Blood. I like plenty of their music a lot, especially when I'm in the mood, but sometimes it just bounces off. That doesn't mean they are not a great bands though, I do think they are.
