Our late father, Milt Holland, used to say the same thing about tracks, commercials, scores, etc., "I played on that one yesterday!" or the like. And hi to Herb and Bones and Lou, he worked with all of you. Bones designed our home sound system, (I've still got some of the gear!).

Let me know some of your favorites sometime, recently I found a CBS promo that he played Tablas on before the Beatles came out with their Indian music recordings. Very cool stuff! Unique for its time and probably the first time that Westerners except the very adventurous ones heard Tablas.

Why wouldn't you be able to do that now? I can see recording the track, mastering it and then uploading it to a Dropbox account, and the radio station grabbing the file and having it on the air all within minutes.

Thanks to the internet, it's technically possible to send the song to the stations within seconds, and get it played instantly as soon as the mix is done. The problem is there's too many gatekeepers and watchdogs -- the station managers, program directors, music directors -- standing in the way of songs getting to the public over the traditional distribution channels. That's why more artists are going independent; they have more control, without the labels getting such a big cut of profits and royalties. Instead of waiting for a song to get an audience's attention over weeks on the radio, they can blast it around the world (on KZbin, for example) in a matter of minutes.
