The instrument in the beginning was a "steel guitar" and "HUMAN" was another defining moment for Diana, this deep timbre shocked so many people into realising exactly what a dramatic contralto really was! Diana said some time later that this is her favourite to sing because the original artist is a Baritone and so it's naturally very comfortable for Diana to sing this low. OK, "Blizzard" (V'yuga/Вьюга) is my favourite song from Diana and this was my favourite performance of that song! This demands a very special level of emotional commitment from Diana and originally she didn't like the song because it drained her so much. However, she "had a word with herself and told herself to GET OVER IT!" Now she still sings it in her concerts, but rarely as it's pretty deep. Imagine what it's like when a relationship ends and you're soul gets shredded by the blizzard of emotions that leaves you cold and alone in the darkness of despair. Yeah, THAT special part of hell!
