Why did SYTTD try to portray this mom as rude and overbearing? She was neither. She was direct with what she liked and didn't like but wasn't mean about it at all. She even pointed out to Morgan that her arms weren't the problem she thought they were in the first dress. In fact the whole family seemed really supportive of Morgan. There have been way, WAY worse moms on this show, like the one who called her daughter a "linebacker" in a dress.

In the clothes/ fashion world.. anything past size..8/10 is considered plus size.. It's completely unrealistic to expect a grown women to be smaller than that( some are naturally thin and petite most of us aren't). That's why they charge so much for alterations smh The 2nd lady was curvy but definitely not plus sized.

@Richard Carver ok I hear you but as someone who went from a 120lbs to 190, just hear ME out. I had 3 kids, 2 are twins. My 1st pregnancy i gained a lot and somehow lost it all (I was very swollen and had some issues). My 2nd however, with my twins, it caused a LOT of problems. I didn't gain a lot, but they sucked the life out of me. I was diagnosed with many different illnesses during and after, which left me with not being able to drop the weight i did gain, and now 8yrs later, I still can't. My husband is diabetic and has been since he was 9yrs old, and eats a strict keto diet for it and I follow also. I hardly eat! And I'm on my feet all day working or with my kids. From 5am to sometimes 9pm at night, on my feet running. I have hypothyroidism, anemia (had to have 2 blood transfusions), have SO many vitamin deficiencies, chronic fatigue syndrome, I am now having massive pain in my back and neck, carpal tunnel in both wrists, and my knees are giving me issues. But the hypothyroidism and vitamin issues (and we are currently testing for other stuff that is causing massive issues) makes me keep the weight. I am VERY active and like I said hardly eat and when I do I am strictly keto and do not have more than around 30 carbs a day (my husband only allows 20)..... do the math. Some of us DO take care of ourselves & still cannot lose the weight. Im only at 190 but for my height I should be around 140 or so. I hate myself and my body, but unfortunately after I had my twins I have been dealing with medical issues that I didn't know id ever face. So please please have some compassion. One day your girlfriend/wife or even child may face the same issues. Or yourself. Getting older causes havoc on our bodies, and while of course there are many people out there that DON'T take care of themselves, I promise you more do and having to deal with these medical problems daily. Also, these episodes are VERY old. Many bridal shops carry up to size 30/32 now instead of the average size 6 that they usually have in a sample.

Wait.... the 2nd bride is a PLUS size... and they actually say it on "Say Yes..." Give me a break. She's normal! I would have slugged them. So, I am 5'7" and usually wear a 10-12. When I got married I got one of David's Bridal designer line gowns. (OK - so I didn't want to spend $5,000 on a dress I'd wear maybe 6 hours). They hardly got me into a size 14!!! I have never worn anything near a 14 in my whole life! In addition, with my 2-1/2" heels, they still needed to bring up the hem several inches and take in the bodice. Bridal gowns are sized differently. The shop makes their money through expensive alterations. Don't even ask about alterations needed to "bustle" the train for the reception. I should have just gotten a big rhinestone broach. Ugh! And Morgan is beautiful! Her coloring, her complexion, everything!

As a chubby girl, I had to learn that putting layers of fabric over fat doesn’t make it go away. It just makes you reinforce that your body is something you should be ashamed of. Plus it makes you look bigger visually. It’s hard, but sometimes it really is more flattering not to hide the arms.

The fact that she uses a term like "stand my ground", which is a fighting term, gives you an indication of the mindset. This is not positive support or health critiquing. She could have said something like "the cut of the dress is great. I'm just not sure about the ruffles.". Instead she said, "I don't like it.". One way is kind and leaves room if the bride loves the dress. The other is a line drawn in the sand and harsh.

Seems mom knew her daughter well enough to say skip the boho dress. The bride got the best dress for her because the mom told the truth. And i didn't see her as being brutal but as honest. There's a difference.

Almost every single comment here mentions how the bride should have gone to Jo and Al. I love them too but people need to stop assuming that these women have the financial means to travel back and forth from the UK multiple times for a wedding dress in addition to fittings. Kleinfield being as large as it is should have more plus-sized gowns but I am sure there are many plus-sized bridal shops here in the US.

The mom was not overbearing, but she was still not very considerate. I'm very relieved she happened to find one they both loved, but in many cases they don't, and the attitude, perspective, and priority is off. When the bride came out in the fifth dress, beaming and happy and feeling absolutely beautiful, the fact that the mom wanted something different herself instead doesn't really matter for spit. Put simply, get over yourselves, those who pay -- the money does not mean you get to make the bride feel uglier herself for your sake. The money only means you pay for what you want to pay for, not that you control her decisions.
