Touring a $350,000 Townhouse In Nuuk, Greenland. Join me in this video where I show Greenlandic real estate from the inside and how a fairly typical townhouse looks like up here in the Arctic.
What does $350,000 really get you in the capital of Greenland? It gives 83m2 of space, on two storeys, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and an astonishing view over mountains and the sea.
Unfortunately the igloos have gotten out of fashion up here and has been replaced with modern housing, which in my opinion also is a lot more comfortable.
Sleeping in igloos is simply too cold, trust me.... Its cold...

I've dreamed of visiting Greenland since I was a little kid and would look at maps and imagine what it was like. Two days ago I finally bought my plane tickets! Four nights in Reykjavik, four nights in Nuuk. I can't wait!!!

Great video and home. Amazing how a 10 minute video leads to hours of research on the Google. On my virtual drives around Nuuk I am always impressed by the lack of power lines as I always find them somewhat unsightly regardless of the country or city (or the street outside my home.) It was the heating system in your home that triggered my interest. Amazed to discover its a city-wide central heating system, something that I thought was mostly found in big cities with a central plant heating several buildings. That of course led to how the whole infrastructure system is put together there and even more amazed how it along with the power lines are all buried. Many challenges living in artic.
@AlexAmasaOlsen
@AlexAmasaOlsen 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks and Im glad the video gave some insights into life here in the cold north. Yes, power lines are being dug down, as well as water, sewage and district heating pipes. District heating systems are only found where it makes sense, as a lot of single family houses run on oil, but Nukissiorfiit (national utilities company) is slowly investing in district heating infrastructure for areas of economic viability (larger apartment blocs etc).

Great video. I wish I can travel directly from here (NJ) to Greenland. My dream is to visit one day Greenland. 3 years ago, I travelled to the PH and I flew over Greenland at 5am and it was amazing, I was like 41,000 feet high and all I can see from that far is grey (cuz of the snow and ice) and some mountains, and a beautiful dim sunlight below the horizon. Because the airplane flew into the unhabited interior part of Greenland, all was ice. That part was unforgetable. I still have the images save in my phone. I remember texting to my crush "am flying over Greenland now close to the North Pole!". That was unforgetable. Nice memories.

Are dryers common in Greenland? It saves the space you need for drying your laundry. Not to mention the time. Was in Greenland a few years ago. It was amazing! Still miss the stegt and frikadeller in Nuuk and all the ice in Ilulissat.

HEY Alex, this is the 1st video that I come across about Greenland and so, I live in the USA and I'm looking for a country to move to, I'm looking at Canada, Iceland, Alaska(US), and some Scandinavian countries as well. I am a professional engineer, have you made a video about cost of living, wages for professionals, what do one need to become a resident or a citizen etc. You know, things of that nature. Thx and God bless.
@AlexAmasaOlsen

I have a video about cost of living, feel free to check it out on my channel. In regards to wages as an engineer, you can expect anything from roughly $6k a month, more if you have experience. I guess I should make a video about residency in Greenland, but here is a link: nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Applying/Permanent%20residence%20permit/Permanent%20Greenland

The large field is a decomissioned graveyard. We have fiber internet and currently 4g+ on cellular. Internet speeds using fiber only gets you 30/5 mbit though as a private person, hopefully soon the speed goes up dramatically, as investments are being made for that.

Really a question of which country you come from. As people from the EU have easier access permit wise. And if you are looking for a job, make sure you get housing as part of your contract, as especially in Nuuk, the housing market is pretty glowing hot right now. Greenland is pretty chill and larger towns has all modern amenities.
