Good grief - you didn't show a lot of courtesy. You stuck your finger in the mold release = so now they have to clean it and recoat it. Then you stick your hand in the plastic - which could introduce oils that could affect the cast. To top it off you pick up one of their molds that cost a lot of damn money and is their livelihood. I wouldn't expect to get an offer to return. Yes - I have worked with molds and molding machines so I'm not talking out my a$$

He also does not seem to grasp some simple other things, like that whilst recycling sprues etc sounds nice, for a part that requires strength without excessive thickness recycling brings problems as it will lower the quality of the plastic.
@TheRezolutionPhoto
@TheRezolutionPhoto 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct. Most places have re-grinders to recycle sprues and bad parts but a lot of plastics cannot be recycled for the reasons you mention such as laminar and fill issues as well as dimensional issues from non-homogeneous mixing of old and new.

Love your vids bro. The hopper on top of the machine is a drying hopper, it dries any moisture that is in the plastic so you don't get streaking through your part (called splay). The barrel that sits under the drying hopper heats up yo the melting point of the desired plastic and has a screw that runs the length of it. The screw spins to pick up the pelleted material and it melts it while spinning it to the end of the nozzle. The entire screw is then run forward pushing, or injecting the plastic into the mold. I do this for a living in Michigan. Not sure how much you learned there with the language barrier but, I got you lol. And what they do with the scrap parts is to put it into a grinder (giant rotating knife machine). In your video when you get to the raw material station the first one you grabbed was a clear polycarbonate that had been ground up (regrind), the second one was virgin material. Then you have to process the tool in, different values get entered in like how much plastic is shot, how fast, what pressures to hold it in at, what temperature to set your tool to, etc. It looks pretty straight forward but there's actually a lot of knowledge in this industry.

This person does not need to go to China to see a plastic injection factory and be so awed about it. He needs education in the manner he touches those polished molds and raw pellets. If he studies the district where he lives, I am sure that he would find a plastic injection or a blow molding or a PET unit that makes bottle products. Rather than going to a plastic injection or a blow molding factory, he should go to the workshops where the precision molds are made and how they calculate the paths the plastic flows to keep the pressure that fills the cavity and how they make up for the shrinage. Workshop technology is a far fascinating subject for his to appreciate. Rather than talking so superficially about the propellers and the making of them, he would show greater intelligence if he depicts the shape and the aerodynamics and the hydrodynamics that exist around the propeller tips and the flow of plastic into the mold and in the nozzle itself that injects the plastic. Those are situations that are a little higher than what he is being awed about in this video. I bet he would be delighted to know why the tip of propellers both the leading and trailing edge needs to be raked back. I suppose it is a case of being proud to buy and own and operate a camera is his limiting level! The people in that factory were very very patient with him wasting their precious resting time and I would have liked to see him respecting them by honoring them with their own traditional method and saluting them. Some ethics and courtesy would have been in order and will make up for the fact that he was late..............and what is more, one should not be proud today that he was not going to switch off the camera when he was told not to...............he should have kept his mouth shut about it acting as if he was courteous by obeying their rules when they accepted them in their midst.
