This is how shelters should be! Hope all the kittens will soon have foster homes until they graduate to forever families, hopefully quickly!😊

This foster care clinic is amazing. All of these kittens are getting proper care. It's a phenomenal program. If I lived there, they would be getting help from me. I need to check around where I live to see what's out there for helping these fragile kittend. Thank you

Hey Hannah, idk if you're gonna see this message but I wanted to tell you. A year ago in winter I was struggling mentally. Your videos were of great help for me. They made me focus on positive things I learned about kittens and I see myself volunteering one day. Thank you for your work and videos

What is the name of your Vegas shelter? I am looking for a kitten and I live in LV.
@sued111615 сағат бұрын
@supakittykatnumba1 It's called The Animal Foundation 655 Mojave Rd. It was very clean and had a couple separate rooms. Good luck finding your new kitty. God sent me one via the roof, a beautiful Flame Point Siamese, no chip, no lost posters. God Bless you ⬅️

I foster through my local shelter! During the years I’ve learned how to treat ringworm, give fluids, syringe feed and administer medications. I love how the Jacksonville shelter encourages fostering right away. Their team looks awesome and so thorough.

This is why fostering is SO important. I get people who are like "Oh I could never foster, it'd be too sad to see them go" but not only is it literally lfie saving work, it's also so so rewarding to raise a tiny thing into a full blown cat who will go to live their long healthy best full life with a loving family. Fosters are part of that chain of life! It's a wonderful thing. If you have the means, I implore you to at least strongly consider it within yourself.

Yes exactly! I am often asked how do I give them up once they’re ready. The way I look at it is that as soon as this litter is healthy enough , another litter in need can be fostered in my house. Plus the shelter gives you all the supplies and support you need 😽

I agree 1000%! It is so hard to see them go but I always have more kittens waiting and I know I’ll get to love and cuddle them just like I did the ones who just left. I also love seeing them find their forever homes! It also helps to know that if I keep any more I won’t have room to foster!

It's definitely hard. I let myself mourn them when they go back. There's definitely some that I think, "what if..." But in the end it's so rewarding letting them go and hearing their adoption story. I helped with that! I gave them their meds when they were sick and gave them warm cuddles when they were scared, and now they're not spicy feral puffballs and get to have new homes

What an amazing Kitten Shelter. Jacksonville Humane Society is awesome for taking such good care of kittens in their care and above all, encouraging people to foster so that together they can save more lives. ❤

Wow - what a wonderful organization!! I foster through the ASPCA in NYC (where I grew up) and they have a wonderful program too. I love seeing how other cities are operating. Thanks so much for making this video. Also, I knew nothing about kittens (have only ever had adult cats) and I was set up for success from the moment I picked up my first pair of kittens. It's been such a life changing experience for me.

Wine corks are excellent disposable enrichment for contagious kittens! When I worked in a shelter we had some folks who would occasionally bring in gallon bags full of corks and it was always a big party in the isolation rooms! ❤❤

I would love to help and foster kittens. There is just one thing that scares me, and that is trying to find forever homes for said kittens. I am new in my area, and extremely introverted. I have a horrendous time making friends, or connecting with people. Now if the shelter I was helping, helped me by getting word out about the kittens, that would be amazing! However, This video is inspiring, and pushing me to at least go talk to the local shelter and see if it is do-able. Thank you so much for caring, and sharing these videos with us all!

As a rule of thumb how long are kittens in your foster care?
@luciferfaust10 сағат бұрын
I can't speak for this shelter, but I foster for my township shelter and we generally have them until they're around 3 pounds to go off and be fixed. So how long depends on how far on they were when we get them. Usually 4 to 6 weeks is how long we have them.

Wait, you can microchip newborn kittens? This surprises me.
@Kalyahna15 сағат бұрын
I would think it's age based like most things with orphaned kittens. Vaccines tend to be 4 weeks before it's safe, flea treatments and dewormers can depend on the specific treatment to decide if it's safe at all or how much to safely use. That sort of thing.

So, I have an adult cat that I've found outside. I've solid reasons to believe someone either kicked him out of their home or he somehow managed to get outside and was unable to find his way back home. I've been taking care of him since, but I need to adopt him off into a better situation as I am tok busy to show him the attention he needs. I'm unsure as to how to do that. I want him to end up in a safe home and would welcome any tips anyone may have.
