When that little boy raised his hand for a High Five it made me so sad, they're still trying to adapt to this new reality. I feel so bad for the children & the new babies being born into this new world. Some pediatricians & child psychologists did research saying this pandemic will affect child development immensely. Little contact with others & the outside world, isolation, it could have long term damage on children. The next generation could be worse because of this.

Nobody can ever understand a teacher's contribution into a child's life. I have seen them work hard due to this pandemic. A little appreciation towards their work can make them super happy and satisfied that they were able to contribute into your education.

I remember going to kindergarten during SARS in Hong Kong, every toddler wore a mask, sanitiser their hands walking in and out of classrooms, wash hands frequently, and were not allowed to talk when masks are off, so we weren’t allowed to talk when eating. I wouldn’t say it was traumatic but it did make our whole generation grow up being a lot more cautious. We wore a mask during flu season and if we are sick ourselves every since, we had to check our temperature every day before school, write it on a card, have our parents sign it, so we can show our teacher at the school gate everyday. Escalator handles, door handles and lift buttons are sanitised every 2 hours per protocol even when it’s not flu season. It would be interesting seeing how the western kids cope with this pandemic since this is more of a “level up” than a new thing for Asians.

It depends on the country or region, most countries in Asia, icluding my own country are having problems cause mask culture isn't a thing, not to mention that the very idea of continents is a man-made concept which makes no sense(Ex- the Suez Canal, Panama Canal are man made these divide Africa to Eurasia, and the Americas respectively) Afterall no one is sure if the Caucass region is a part of Europe or Asia, since the Caucasians were influenced by a type of greek people, and then various people groups both from Asia, and Europe. The line between Asia, and Europe is arbitary, and so is the line between Australia/Oceania and South-East Asia, and even South America due to islands near the Americas.

Before covid my 2 sons one in middle the other in high school always got As and Bs but recently both their grades tanked. It’s really hard. They want to go to school but they can’t. These are unprecedented times in our generation. I just am thankful for what I do have you know?

As someone who took her uversity enterance exam then started uni during the pandemic, i used to think i was very unlucky. It's been very hard for me and i've been at my lowest psychologically but after seeing what these lovely children have to go through i feel so bad for them. These children will never be able to compensate the year that they lost. this was one of their most important years in life but they had to start their education this way. I major in foreign language education in uni and my heart goes out to all the lovely teachers doing their best. This video inspired me so much.

Some times we have resources to help ourselves, but it can be tricky to find the free or low cost internet and sometimes food banks run out of food. My job changed my hours so I could be home with my child for virtual learning, but I had to go through multiple managers and their bosses. Some parents don't have that option & some parents lost their jobs.

The government doesn’t need to help me. Once I break the fifth dimension into three sections of different infinities I will soon return with the rift and return it to major M/c 65. COVID-19 is inconsequential too the plans of the higher up. The rift will allow the crack to be sealed as long as it does shut off before the crack expands and consumes existence.

I'm in year 8 in England and I can tell you our school is nothing like this. No social distancing in place no screens and no protection for teachers. We don't wear masks unless we are in corridors and everyone mixes in and out of school. I feel so bad for everyone parents, students and teachers alike, it's such a hard time for everyone

The teachers (and the children and many of the parents) are working VERY hard to make the most of a very difficult situation and a reality where there's a lot less help than they ought to have gotten and a lot less mitigation than should have been there. I've been doing a teaching internship for a few months and it's been interesting 😅. From kids coming into classrooms and telling my colleagues: "oh Mrs, I haven't been able to taste anything the past few days. But my mom doesn't allow me to stay home." To spending hours preparing lesson plans, only to hear measures have changes and you can't do the things you were planning on anymore (I'm a music teacher so we aren't allowed to sing or use certain instruments in class). It's been draining and exhausting but at least I'm learning 😬 .

A heads up, you will eventually resent school/college administration always taking the stance of everything is okay and if not, do yoga and breathing exercises. Btw, that will never change, that you can't apply your lesson plans because adminstration will always create situations that block your efforts in effecting student progress. It broke my heart hearing the kid with emotional distress and fear. I'm the adult and I have that same distress and fear. That distress & fear that when I catch Covid I will live with the long term effects of it for the rest of my life. There's a term for it already called 'long Covid". It's up there with the same fears related to having cancer if you ask me. I can only imagine there will be medical insurance for Covid only just like there is long term cancer care insurance which no one can afford other than politicians.

Teachers are having to be , moms , dads , grandmas , social workers , food security, emotional/mental health workers , a shoulder to cry on , all on top of a being a teacher. And the sad thing is , they’ve always been that , it’s just in our faces now more than ever. I’m a first a responder myself ( in LA ) and if the teachers don’t get the support they need now and in the future, I’m afraid we won’t have more future fire fighters , paramedics, EMTs , police , nurses or doctors. Education is so important. They are “hero’s” just like us.

So many parents, students, and teachers struggling to educate and learn through this. The GOOD news is that kids who miss a year of school entirely are still able to catch up later...so even if they learn very little this year, they will be okay. (According to a study done in Israel, I think it was...some area there, the kids couldn't attend school for a full year, and he looked at them a few years after school resumed, and they had caught up.) I'm just glad my kid isn't having to deal with all of this--we home educate, so no major disruption for us. We did have to give up the classes he usually takes in-person, and we can't go to museums and festivals and workshops like we normally would.

I’m a high school junior and seeing this breaks my heart. I’m at an age where I can understand the changes and the reasoning behind the safety protocols we’re taking. I’m also at a grade level where I’m no longer learning the fundamentals like how to read or count. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for these kids to miss out on essential childhood moments, possibly miss out on necessary education due to remote learning issues or absence, and the psychological impact this will have. As I said I’m a high school junior but I can already tell that this virus has had a psychological impact on me and the way I act. I can not say if the way I lived before covid and the way I thought about people/social interactions will ever be the same again. If I’m already being impacted and feeling the psychological toll of this virus I can not imagine what it must be like for these kids. I commend teachers and school staff working their hardest during these trying times.

Depends on neighborhood, noticed in more affluent(richer) neighborhoods, they wear those masks all the time,everyone when outside their homes including those who work in those neighborhoods(staff,employees) so you stand out,look strange if you don't wear a mask. As everyone shares their experiences in the comments... here's mine: I live in Germany and graduated from high school last year, now I work in a school. It was hard for me to adjust to being and learning all alone at the beginning of the pandemic. Our teachers were more focused on the younger students, which I totally understand, but it left me feeling like nobody cares about me, home schooling didn't even took place for our grade. I adjusted pretty well and it all went fine. Of cause it was extremely sad to not have a prom, but I don't want to complain about that. September last year I started working with middle schoolers at a german "Gymnasium". And it's tough. The rules are all over the place. First, students had to wear masks outside, not in the classroom. Then, it was the other way around. Many students neglect the rules which makes it hard for me to teach them. Overall, I want to thank every teacher from the bottom of my heart because life is crazy and I admire teachers for comforting kids in those hard times!

I live in Iowa and our schools have been open since August. Almost all of my classmates have been quarantined and almost everyone I know has been exposed or sick. Our education system needs alot of rethinking, classroom-capacities, number of teachers, internet accessability, school transportation, curriculums, mental-health tutors etc. The federal govt is so much behind when it comes to the future of our kids, but when it comes to military budgets & expenditures oh boy nobody beats them in that.!!

Incredibly well-done video! Shows not only the challenges (heartbreaking to see the kids, teachers, and administrators go through this, and know parents have had such a difficult time as well), but it also shows how amazing the staff is in rising to the challenge (the coping scene with the counselor is awesome!). Thank God my daughter had an amazing second grade teacher who made sure they had access to her 24/7 and the kids were prepared for 3rd grade. As parents we need to do our part as well we can't just depend on the teachers. Make sure our kids turn in their work, Log in, ask the teacher how can we assist our kids. Make them read lots of book. I make my daughter write little notes to me and her sisters. We call it "can't get upset notes" this way she can express to us exactly what or how she is feeling and we do the same. 95% of her notes are always positive. Her school also have a counselor who come online every Thursday to talk to them but does it as a class. It just a crazy world now

I’m from Uruguay and my school re-opened in June. Our classes are from March to December and Summer its December to March. We were very lucky and less than 10 people got sick. We were safe. I am a senior in high school. My district has been absolutely phenomenal in handling this pandemic. Here’s our story. It’s long, so get ready. Our superintendent was supposed to retire after his 10th year in June of 2020. However, he sighed on until December and then eventually until June of 2021. He worked tirelessly all summer to hatch a plan as close to perfect as possible. When we realized there was no way we would open in full, a hybrid plan was the only option. Every other day was too easy. He chose a complicated half day, alternating, cohort, cyber Monday, model. We are in school everyday but Mondays. We are split into cohorts alphabetically. A-K go mornings on Tuesday, Thursday and afternoons on Wednesday, Friday. Vice versa for the rest. We were already a district with 1:1 iPads 3-12, but K-2 got them as well for the half of the day that is virtual. A typical day requires eight bus runs-that’s right, eight. Teachers teach two classes in the morning then move into an intercession (kids eat lunch at home) when they attend to families that have chosen full time cyber. I know for a fact there are teachers who have cyber kids who have not been online since September. In the afternoon, they teach two more classes. Parents have had to face impassible childcare situations with students only out of the home for two and a half hours a day. Our pandemic coordinator works round the clock, literally, to properly contact trace. But we’re doing it. We’re getting through. Our admin has been amazingly transparent in revealing policies and procedures. We don’t check temps because our health professionals on board were concerned that parents would just pop some fever reducing medicine anyway. We’re supposed to check before we leave the house, which my brother and I always do. There have been bumps. I’m certain there are going to be truancy problems with kids who chose cyber learning as an “I’m quitting school” option. We’ve had too many teachers acting a fool outside of work and getting themselves in quarantine. But it’s gonna be okay. I am fortunate to be able to say that we are generally a middle class district, but we do have a population below the poverty line. A nearby district with a much wealthier tax base is much worse off, however. They don’t even have devices! They’ve been poorly managed for years, and it’s now showing. They brought on a new superintendent (that poor man) and their entire “reopening” plan was a joke. From what I understand, they started seriously discussing just three weeks before school was supposed to start. Yeah. They were closed within a month. So thank you to my administration.

I work with special needs kiddos, and my heart goes out to the parents and the kids. This is such a tough time for so many. Mom said In the beginning my non verbal work kiddo was grabbing his backpack every morning. He doesn't understand their is a pandemic causing all of this. 😔😔

right now im in 10th grade and i also basically missed half of 9th grade and I'm doing half online, half in person, and I'm also seeing how this is affecting other people i know like my cousin who has special needs at school and i really agree that online learning does not even come close to learning AT the school. There is not the same support and environment and you barely get to talk to other people which can be depressing to have to be so far apart. We have quarters so we're only doing 2 classes at once rather than 8 but it's over the course of like 2 months so everything is so condensed and quick and I'm worried that many of us will not be as educated as normal people would be when we graduate and I'm worried that we won't be able to catch up because we're missing so much at school and outside of school with extracurriculars. Our teachers work so hard to teach the online and in person classes at the same time and they are often forced to cut things out of what we would normally learn just because there is not enough time. I wonder how this pandemic and the consequences will affect us in the next few years and if things will change to accommodate students who had to learn during this time because there are many people like for example grade 12s who would normally be doing and learning so many things that just can't happen right now so they are missing all that, or really young students, or special needs students, really just all the students. It's difficult and i wish it could just go back to normal

I’m from other country and we got less than 10 cases, the kids that have asthma (idk how to spell it bc i’m from other country that doesnt speak english and i’m still learning) stayed in their homes. If we feel sick we could go home and it was wonderful, bc we could do something, it was not the same but it was great. Stay safe everyone! ❤️❤️

This is heartbreaking. My kids are in Florida, my first and fourth grader have been attending in person. I don't get to see what their day is like. But I'm so incredibly thankful for the experience. Distance learning was stressful, my children were depressed and not learning anything. I work at a preschool which my son attends.

When coronavirus is over they should make everyone in the schools have a login for something so that if the switch to online schooling happens it's seemless. My middle school used google classrooms and we just used those accounts to join the zoom calls

im currently helping k through 7th graders reading online as a tutor and it is so hard. its stressful for them, its stressful for me, and i can tell all this technology is taking a toll on their little brains. one kids parents keep distracting him during his session, others have internet issues, some get really distracted or have other background noises. its not ideal but i think for me the hardest thing is seeing them struggle and i cant be there for them in person to comfort them.
