Awesome collection Adam! I could spend a lifetime listening to your stories, touring your cave and having you teach me all you know. You're genuinely one of the most delightfully fascinating human beings I've ever seen in my life; I can't watch anything you do without smiling from start to finish. I'm a HUGE Quentin Tarantino fan too! I haven't seen a movie he's involved in, be it as the director, writer, producer or consultant, that I didn't instantly love, watch again and eventually own! One of my biggest regrets happened when I was a teenager - my Dad invited me to go to work with him one day, he was filming something for HBO, and for whatever dumbass reason I didn't go. Just my luck, it was the day Quentin Tarantino showed up on set. They spent the better half of the day "hanging out", talking shop, and when filming was over, they went out to dinner with Michael Clarke Duncan!! 😭 ONE OF MY BIGGEST REGRETS! For those of you who don't know who M.C.D. is, he played one of the main characters, a prisoner, in The Green Mile amongst many other things such as Sin City. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan

One of the last handguns I shot, sometime in the early 90s, was a Star 'Firestar M43' 9mm, based on the 1911. Star used to make decent pistols. On a side note, on that visit to the range, some Police 'marksmen' were overloading on testosterone and bravado, so we accepted their little shooting challenge, and my colleague and I both beat them, him using the Star, and me using a 4" Ruger .38. I was taught to shoot by my father, who had been a small arms instructor for the Royal Air Force Regiment. Of course, I didn't tell them that, I left them with the impression they'd been beaten by a random civilian.

Yvette Mimieux is an actress that most notably played in 1960's The Time Machine. Shosanna's alias in Inglourious Basterds is Emmanuelle Mimieux (but knowing Tarantino, the last name is indeed probably an homage to Yvette).
@tinclostinclos15316 жыл бұрын
Emmanuelle Mimieux's "official" French identity card (fan-made, according to Adam) has a few spelling mistakes: 1- it should read "Empreinte digitale" instead of "Impreinte digitale"; 2- since it's a woman's card, the civil servant who filled in the blanks would without a doubt have added an "e" after "Né" ("Born"), which is mandatory in French for the feminine form of most adjectives; 3- we should read "Forme générale du visage" ("General shape of the face") instead of "Forme generale...". This well-intentioned and generous fan might want to re-do it.

Adam your air soft gun is the exact type of gun used by Vincent in pulp fiction, he had a nickel colt 1911 with pearl grips with gold colt medallions in them, if you got a star model b you'd have both.
@SkeeterValentine05 жыл бұрын
If you read the Pulp Fiction script, there are several references to Jules's gun being a .45. The original line was "Mr .45", not "Mr 9 millimeter". So the gun was changed post script.

Adam, you are correct that the movie industry had a problem with shooting the 1911 with blanks (but they actually used other guns such as the 9mm Luger, rather than the 1911 in 45 acp or 9mm). You can see that in the movie Sergeant York which has a release date of July 2, 1941, staring Gary Cooper As Alvin York. The actual firearm used by Sergeant York to kill seven Germans was not a Luger as depicted in the film, but rather a 1911 .45 acp. The Luger was preferred for film making, simply because they couldn't get the .45 acp 1911 to fire blanks. There just was not enough powder used in blanks at the time to cause the 1911 recoil operated, locked breech, to unlock reliably every time.

If anyone at tested sees this please show to Adam. All over your shop are some beautiful swords. Not just your really fancy ones you made or good replicas you own. But nice katanas and other blades. And they are just scattered around your shop just leaning on stuff in the corners on on a small cheap stand that probably came with it. I suggest you do a video of you building a way to display them. Eather have them all sitting sideways on a rack up on the wall. Or (what I think is best) Make some small black boxes with clear acrilic on the front and led lighting on the inside (one for each) And put a sword in it and put it up on the wall vertically (I suggest the one above your sortamose. Like start at the pool table at the end closest to the main workspace. And face that area. And look at the main wall infront of you and put it up on that.). Now I realise that that would be time consuming and not realy efficient on materials. But they don't need to be very sturdy or big just arond 5 inch wide 2 thick and however long deeded made out of plywood. You could just nail gun together no need for wood glue Becouse it doesn't need to be durable. Place some black pading at the back. Put something for the sword to sit on. A led strip down the side with the power out the top. And some acrilic glued on the front. Then run a cable to them all and your done. How cool would that look rows of swords in nice black boxes with clear fronts placed neatly on foam. And lit up with leds on the inside. Also if that is to much instead on doing it all individualy make one long box. Same thing but instead of 5inch wide 100 inch. Then put led lighting strips all around the inside walls. Easier wiring building and looks just as cool. This way you have a great looking way of neatly displaying your swords that is easy to see and lit well. Also you could make it so you can open the acrilic. Or if you want to get fancy. Make it open with a switch just a few electric motors. Becouse all those swords are going to waist hiding in the shadows not displayed and all over the place. This way it's another thing in your amazaballs shop for someone to have a nerdgasim about Realy hope you do this build. P.S. huge fan (literally. I'm actually a industrial size fan with blades 2 meters long[also I'm in Australia so I use cm,m,km,kangaroo tails as measurements. I was just nice when I converted to inch{also probably wrong become they were rough calculations in my head}]). I love myth busters, your shop, your home, your nerdines, your smartness, your childish, your Segway, how you build somehing and just ,flow,(for a lack of better words)in a workshop, your honestly one of the people that inspire me to be the best version of me and to be constantly learning and doing things that I enjoy. Keep being amazing. From Mitchell Posselt.

@KaizerBeatz-vf9wf5 жыл бұрын
john smith Yeah, maybe Butch in-universe has no reasoning or symbolism behind buying it, but in terms of the people who designed the set and arranged the props and furniture for PF, I have no doubt it was intentional. They have people who’s job it is to arrange film sets with furniture and props, so any chance of symbolism is usually definitely intentional I think. Similar thing with character’s wardrobe symbolism and stuff like that.

@johnpatrickmcp10 жыл бұрын
Yup, pretty much any time you see a movie or TV character using a 1911 it's a 90% likelyhood that its really a Star Model B. The fantastic thing is that they are actually easier to get than a standard 1911. The Star is classified as a Curio & Relic by the BATFE so as long as you have a clean background and $30 you can apply for a C&R FFL and buy surplus Model B's for around $300. Most basic model reproduction 1911s start around $450 and have to be purchased through a licensed gun dealer. Just be warned, while the Star may look like a 1911 it isn't. Parts are not interchangeable and there are not a lot of after market parts for them.

WhoThaCazer Yeah, in the UK airsofts are legal but they need to be made clear with design that they’re airsoft and not real guns (for safety reasons). The only case where you can have realistic looking airsofts in the UK is if they’re used for: • theatrical performances and rehearsals of performances • the production of films and television programs • the organisation and holding of historical re-enactments • crown servants So I’m not sure if keeping it as a movie prop falls under the legal section there. I don’t think so. But I can imagine there won’t be much trouble for someone smuggling it, as long as they keep it at home and don’t get caught ;)
