The government needs to make regulations about houses being bought to be turned into rental homes so there’s more houses for people to purchase to own for themselves-if more homes were available for purchase for actual homes, the housing price bubble would shrink, more people could afford their own properties, and a lot less people would be booted onto the streets by merciless landlords
@almacoles55014 жыл бұрын
The government cannot force people to turn their properties into rental homes. That's a violation of the United States Constitutional Laws. The only way that can occur is if the government compensates (using US Taxpayer dollars) the private property owner for taking control of their private property for public purposes. Private Property Owners are protected by Constitutional Rights so that if you decide to buy a house, the government can't come in and control your property without your permission and consent.
@jameswei45834 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, homeownership is not for everyone. Landlords provide necessary (whether you like it or not) products (rental units) for renters to consume. Not everyone has the financial capacity and/or discipline to deal with what is essentially a large leveraged position in real estate. The problem becomes worse if they have to use something like FHA financing, which increases the leverage even further. You think landlords are contributing nothing while making money off of renters? No! Landlords are shielding renters from the risks (and costs) inherent in the real estate market in exchange for a profit. Plenty of articles suggest that average Americans have very little set aside for emergency expenses. How do you expect them to deal with costly repairs and/or other risks that come with homeownership? "They will be booted onto the streets by merciless banks..."

Eviction: when a tenant consumes a service but refuses to pay. It is no different than taking something out of a store without paying for it, i.e., stealing.

Wtf is wrong with the landlords???? If I was one I would put a hold on their payments. If even I was a poor landlord who doesn't have enough for the utility bills, I would at least ask my tenents to start limiting their electric, water, etc. in return for not having to worry about paying the full rent right now. The landlords should have been the second stimulus check to secure shelter for many American people.
@lydiamerritt11744 жыл бұрын
You obviously don't own property. If landlords have a mortgage that doesn't stop. They may not be able to afford you staying rent free..think about it. If banks put hold on payments from landlords then they could give renters a break, but I know for a fact that is not occurring. I'm not losing land for anybody.

There should’ve been protection put in for landlords also. Thats where the real problem is. A lot of landlords still have to pay property taxes,insurance and repairs with no income. A lot have burnt through reserves. Its more to the story. Just understand if your landlord gets foreclosed on your housing may be in jeopardy also.
@FindingMyself904 жыл бұрын
The Pandemic has been in effect for like 8 months and they burnt thru their reserves? Make it make sense
@arleneaugustahair83934 жыл бұрын
@@FindingMyself90 yes! Where do you think Landlords live? They still have to pay their personal bills too! Their mortgages didn’t stop but they had the nerves to put a moratorium on rent? That makes zero sense. If you know anything about a forbearance, they actually collect all of the money owed at one time, which will cost people even more hardship. Furthermore, be smart! If their properties get foreclosed on those renters are still going to be evicted. By the way, what about the people who received $600 per week extra for unemployment? What did they do with the money. A lot of them gave their landlords the middle finger. Therefore, now the courts are looking into finding out who got that money and if they did and screwed their landlords over, they WILL be evicted. Plus people need to learn how to budget, save and invest.

After seeing what has been going I wouldn’t rent to anyone, people act as if the landlord don’t have to pay the property taxes, and up keep. I’m talking about decent landlords and if people hate landlords so much, then they need to buy their own homes because you can’t live anywhere for free.
@jimziemer4743 жыл бұрын
I’m not a landlord and never will be one after witnessing this. I don’t want the government trying to tell me I can’t evict a non-paying tenant. Worse yet, tenants think they should be permitted to stay for free.

I'm sorry but the only looters are on Wall Street. I don't know why you always talk about rich people paying their fair share or worse: they should contribute more. Like they should have a kind heart or be charitable. It's about them giving back what they stole.

Most landlords are small businesses as well, they still have to pay mortgages, maintain their buildings and pay taxes. They are not being paid and have to pay out of pocket for all the buildings expenses, many are losing their rentals and their houses as well. All these people refusing to pay rent and not saving cash up they got from th government, do they realize they still owe the rent? That when the moratorium on evictions expire they will have to pay all the rent they own or be evicted? There may be millions tossed out into the streets in the next few weeks

Sure it does. People are not dropping dead left and right when we step out the door so there doesn't appear to be a pandemic. But when people can't pay rent because dumb Governors and Mayors forced everyone to lose their business and their jobs, you gotta have non-paying occupants evicted to honor and comply with the Rental Contract Agreement during a time where reality doesn't appear to be a pandemic. Let the dumb Governors and Mayors compensate everyone's Rent cost for causing everyone to lose their job and their income.

I got a good deal on a house because there were tenants in it accompanied with about 50k in repairs to get it up to speed. The tenants don't want to move and guess who's gonna get stuck paying for a house that I'm not living in? Me. And guess who doesn't have a place to live? Me. So looks like I'll be looking forward to sleeping in my car while my tenant sleeps in a bedroom that I'm paying for. And compound that with a moratorium that prevents evictions, it could be a while before my tenant finally leaves, running the risk of leaving the house in even worse condition, all the while I'm paying a tenant who trashed my house so he can move out. Sounds fair.
