The actors/actresses/writers/crew in this film did an amazing job!! As someone homeless, the struggles they face are very real and relatable. The system is broken and way off balance, it needs to be completely restructured. Hopefully this film opens the eyes of those who have never been through this nightmare. Homeless people are not always addicts or folks with mental health issues, sometimes it's regular people who just hit tough times and can't find the resources to fight their way out. Thanks for taking the time to post this video!

I always wonder how can the typical family with average income afford a higher rate+ more expensive home? in my area multi generational home is becoming the norm . Don’t forget to add the inflation which just this week was 9.1 on the CPI , producers index 11.3, it’s going to be a rough ride for sure

This is why being informed pays off. I see any financial market condition as a plethora to make wealth. I had my $80k diversified and it has grown by 3x in the past 7 months with compounding, venturing doesn’t necessarily boil down to funds but you also have to be informed, be patient and back it up with good guidance

Number one mistake when facing that situation. Spending money on a hotel to put off the inevitable when you could be using it on things to aid in your long term survival. I lost my home after my wife passed away from COVID. North Carolina has zero in terms of social services. I sold everything that didn't have sentimental value or had belonged to my wife. I drove my 2007 Honda Accord to NYC and sold it and went into the shelter system and got public assistance. I'm still waiting on my disability but I have an apartment in the Bronx. It's not much and the neighborhood sucks but it's better than the shelter. You really appreciate little things once you've been through this situation

@@Laladreams777 I understand I came to NYC from Mt pleasant NC. I got my housing through a mental health voucher called the 20-10E. If you come to the city have your ID, birth certificate, social security card. You are going to look for the HRA office. That is welfare. Go there tell them your situation and you will get $140 emergency food stamps. You can go into a shelter or you can go the mental health/ addiction route. I'm 100 present disabled and I got that approved here too. It truly is the land of opportunity if you do your research and use the system to your advantage. I came here with a 2007 Honda Accord and $1000. I now have an apartment, disability money.

This represents where I come from. My mother wasn't single, but she may as well have been. My father was an abusive drunk who took everything he could from us. We lost our home and everything in it 4 times that I can remember, taking only 2 trash bags full of clothes per person each time. This made me realize I'm not alone. Well I was there it was crazy to see how many other families were living in hotels as well. It wasn’t cheap I managed to leave right before I ran out of money and options. I think it was somewhere around $1000+ for a week it wasn’t a high end hotel but it wasn’t a cheap hotel in bad area either it was decent but still crime around on a daily basis. It’s crazy how many people go through this.

With all the abandoned old homes around this nation just sitting in the weeds, there needs to be a program where the government will pay the owner or the bank (whoever owns it) a subsidy to at least let people live there in exchange for cleaning up the property and maybe doing repairs. Our governments squander money on high-tech projects for Wall Street, and the populace, who have paid taxes all their lives are on the street. We put companies where they are today, along with politicians. There is little effort on their parts to take care of us, even after years of taking care of them. I would also like to see churches do a bit more than they do. It seems many churches simply put the money back into the property or whatever, but I don't see them actually putting money into homelessness. Some do, and some do good work, but many simply do not. Local businesses can do something also. It seems money only flows one way sometimes. The good news is that hard lives often produce social workers like myself, and nurses, police, and other helpers.

That’s THE ISSUE. What can we do to help…not just volunteer at the food pantry or helping to serve meals to those in need which is important but to be able to do something tangible, cut the ridiculous red tape, enabling those who want off the streets to get a home, get a job or get disability for any that can’t work. hate the structure of our societies- bend over backward for the developers and what have you- but, do next to nothing to address AFFORDABLE HOUSING- I live in Canada- we are being turned into a feudal state as well- the landowners- (the Lords!) and us the 'serfs' being crushed by high rents and cost of living expenses- can't do anything! After WWII Canada- and I am sure the states did the same- built much, much affordable housing for the returning vets and workers returning after the war- today- here in Toronto- those same houses are being torn down and huge homes that takes up the entire lot- is put up- not the type of home an average person can afford- our politicians are only representing the developers and the landowners!!!

We see it everywhere. The projects going up cater to the rich. Same with a lot of things. We have millions of houses sitting empty, and there needs to be a federal/state program to rehab and get people in them in exchange for property maintenance and possibly community services. But dang they hate to part with money that could go into a multi-billion dollar project for whatever. They are catering to investors, not to people who can only pay taxes.

Ive been homeless on and off, mostly on since i was 15 running away from foster care. 29 now. Wth can you do when corporations slave wage you to the point you still cant afford housing(also incorporated)...... Are willing to participate in your data privacy invasions and put up obstacles to a huge number of minorities, black and white and every color in between...from homelessnes to convicts trying to start over, at both the housing and employement stage american citizens are suffering the consequences of corporations having too much control of government. The government needs to take this responsibility, not a handfull of non-profits. Corporate status quo is held in priority at the cost of thousands of peoples suffering, we saw first hand realty management corporations wipe there noses at the governments attempt at preventing large scale evictions. Its not impossible for the feds to make some blm land available. This is not india, we are not overpopulated. There is so much open space that it really is a simple matter. The fact is money and greed have overtaken our government over the betterment of its peoples. Im speaking to you government of america. City beaurocrats. PUSH CORPARATE CONTROL OUT OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!! Materialism will make it hard for some of you to do what needs to be done which is to Stop contributing to the corporate maw. Do your business with mom and pop. Buy your home, dont rent. There needs to a boycott of some kind so that corporate power can be eschewed and a new level of human society and consience can exist. Capitalism is our last great enemy, hiding behind our governments democracy making it a corporatocracy, a form of oligarchy. Just so you know, that's not really a democracy. Finland has ZERO homeless. Other states and cities are will approach Zero homeless by 2024. Residents pay according to their income and landlords get huge TAX BREAKS. Why is Vegas not doing this?

@Alek Stanton That's a theory you've got, but I live in Norway and your scenario is not what's happening in real life. People work and have ambitions to do well, and taxes isn't stopping you. I work as a software developer which pays decent and I'm happy to pay more tax than many. I still make enough so it's not like they take everything. I would make a lot more by moving to the US in my profession, but I would never consider living in such an unsafe place where there is an under developed social system which doesnt reach everyone. Misfortune like a random cronical illness can happen to anyone. Myself included.

It amazes people how clueless people are in these comments. Just get a job isnt even the answer anymore to keep housing. Landlords are evicting good tenants who pay their rent on time. This is a reality for many people.

And in the mean time, while starting a new job, people are starving, trying to find some place to shower and sleep. So I really hate when people say that.

You know, as many videos as I see bashing these single moms, sometimes you gotta realize, people make mistakes in life. She is a sub-teacher, that is a harsh job, underpaid, under-appreciated. The way she is treated in this video, was like just another number. Even though this video is not real, it happens every day. I wonder how many of the actors/actresses were homeless before. Having to stay in a hotel for months before I could get my first apartment, I know it is hard, because they charge a lot of $ for a hotel for weekly stays. it is hard to eat right in a hotel. No oven, ect. Shady people in the hotel too, drug deals going down, people using drugs. Would not wish it on anyone. Do not forget about possibility of bed bugs.

Where I live (Southern CA) housing has skyrocket, landlords know it and cashing in. Example the house next door was bought by a property investor, if he can get more money for that house he does not renew their lease, claims he's putting the house up for sale so the tenants have to move (this is how he gets rid of them) the new tenants move in paying $200 - $300 more than the last one I have witness this happening to more than three families. My neighbor is not the only one doing this I been hearing from other people it is happening to them, one friend who's son was renting an apartment got notice his rent was going up $500.00 another one their rent was going up $1,000, it's happening everywhere.

I'm homeless myself and I've been homeless for a year after finally getting kicked out and having so many roommates and I faced it until God blesses me with a place to live I'm done seeking. As I watched this documentary I wish the mom just went and got a job instead of choosing something that made no sense because things would have gone smoother like the judge said even if the landlord said she'll terminate the 3 months. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
