When I was a child I ate an entire jar of Beluga Caviar while visiting my grandmother. My parents had chosen a much simpler lifestyle so I didn’t realize how costly it was. I just knew it was good on the toast her chef had made it on. So when I found the little jar I went to town; assuming there were a couple so it would be fine. I realized even back then; I had eaten over $1000 on under 30 minutes.

He just saved an entire species. Some of you might not know, but we also have this kind of similar situation, we have a seed vault, which is the _Svalbard Global Seed Vault_ , where all the seeds from different plants in different countries all over the world have been stored as a stock/copy in case of a disaster. The Seed Vault is located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, near Longyearbyen, in the remote ArcticSvalbard archipelago, approximately 1,300 kilometres (810 mi) from the North Pole.

@gonzoducks8
@gonzoducks8 4 жыл бұрын
I think he's only using the stripping method for the Beluga but not the Ostera or Sveruga. Makes sense though, Beluga takes a long time to mature compared to the latter. LStripping eggs in that manner can yield damaged ones, but in return he can keep having the fish produce more and doesn't need to wait another 10+ years for beluga eggs.

Just like with diamonds, caviar is also artificially expensive. Through careful regulation that's how the price is determined. Both could be much less expensive.
@LevSeven_

Then everyone would be buying it and sturgeon would be overfished into extinction due to a now lucrative market. Diamonds are another case, and it’s simply not comparable to to the case of caviar.

Except this caviar comes from an Endangered Species, which except for this one farm is only available on the black market. Rarity justifies price, at least for people who enjoy the flavor.

For many of you to know. The reproduction of these species is not possible in the area they are originated from. Beluga and others are mainly freshwater species, the main habitat is river Volga. Fish needs to go up the current more than 1000 miles but it is impossible due to the cascade of dams where nothing is made to allow it to pass.

Genghis Khan680 plastic spoons will work just fine since it will not react to the eggs unlike metsl. However, pearl spoons that are made specially for caviar is cheap and you can buy it from Amazon.

Add a tablespoon of beluga caviar t the top of filet mignon Oscar style. I always like it this way. The Beluga caviar is about $150 USD extra on top of the $400 steak and king crab. But I do oysters on the half shell and a lobster for surf and turf. But if I'm spending a $900 a plate, it is not for Jenny Craig portions. I like real portions of food. If I want to starve, I'll get a job as a super model. To me, this is real food. If you've never had Beluga, try it just once. It is worth every penny. Be sur to take a picture with your iPhone. These chefs make real art!
