Most of the people commenting are so disconnected from where their food comes from, every part of the fish is used. Unless you are vegan, where do you think your food comes from? Even the production of fruits and vegetables results in the death of animals.

Little Alie Pie what you have to understand is that they’re trying to be as humane as possible. I understand if that’s your belief and you don’t want these animals to die, but these fish aren’t human. It’s not cold blooded murder and you have to understand that. What some people don’t get is that there are two ways to harvest food that don’t hav to do with crops. One way is cold blooded killing them by letting them suffocate, or by using some means of force that doesn’t kill them instantly, or the second way is by making it quick and painless. Hitting in the head with a hammer, slitting their throats, dislocating their head... don’t get me wrong it sounds horrible, but if someone is gonna do it they should do it right.

I’m actually glad that a place like the exist with high quality standards and uses the whole fish and not just the eggs. There are places that will just kill the fish for the eggs and throw the rest away which is a total waste with no quality control. Like others have said this kind of place is great as it doesn’t wipe a whole species of fish out as they are captive fish they use and wait till the fish itself is ready to be harvested instead of just snatching it up at the first sign of roe.

For anyone who is critcizing the living conditions and euthanizing methods at this farm, you should consider that these fish live considerably better than most livestock. Welfare standards at this farm in particular look acceptable. Animals raised for food are almost never raised in that great of a way. That’s just the truth. Even the biopsy would not have hurt as much as branding, dehorning and castration. So anyone who is calling THIS cruel better be a pretty f-in dedicated vegan as not to be a hypocrite.
