The ultimate hypocrisy is the UK supporting 'democracy' for HK when they never introduced it in 152 years of colonial rule. In 1967, HK anti colonial riots ended in the shooting of rioters, and I remember being teargassed in our apartment as a child. Young HK need to learn more history. I’m an expat who was living in HK during the protest. Watching how the western media portrayed black to white and white to black about what’s actually happening on the ground, witnessed by all of us living in the city with our own eyes, it made me doubt what else was complete lie. I wouldn’t have doubted about what happened in Tiananmen in 1989 before my HK experience. But now I would.

I was in HK at that time. After that I fact checked all MSM. I know what I found out. Dalai Lama said Tibet is part of China, Tianenman Sq did not happen, The students have left the square. There is violence that day. Two hundred soldiers were killed, It is a long complicated story. Basically MSM are all lies. Why? US has a $500M fund to discredit China nad Taiwan has a slush fund to bribe US congressman. Pelosi got $2.3M. No I do not read MSM any more.

There are even more disgusting facts going around this. In 2018, a Hong Kong couple went to Taiwan for vacation. During a quarrel, the guy killed the girl and after disposing the body, he flew back to Hong Kong. The Taiwanese police through video footages, found the culprit, but were unable to extradite the guy as there were no extradition law between Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan. In fact, not only that, there is also no complete extradition law between Mainland China, Macao SAR, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan. The Hong Kong Legislative Council decides to plug the loopholes once and for all and came up with a comprehensive Extradition bill (draft) to be passed. This is where Jimmy Lai came in. He falsified the content of the bill, claiming that with this, the Mainland police will be able to roam freely in Hong Kong to arrest anyone who badmouth the CPC. This stroked fear in the Hong Kongers and all came out to protest. Jimmy continued to spread lies, which ended up with the whole violent episode in Hong Kong. The Extradition bill (draft) has since been rescinded. Alas, up till today, the murderer is still unpunished, the victim could not rest in peace. Jimmy Lai's hand is stained with the blood of the victim and her unborned. Where is the justice for the victim?

The problem with majority of the people in Hong Kong is that they see themselves as equal to the whites in the UK and US hence more superior than Chinese from the Mainland; but then to the American and British, they are just Asian who can never be white. This kind of delusion is what gave Jimmy Lai the audacity to beg US to nuke China which is totally ludicrous. The only reason the US and UK are interfering in HK is that it brings political advantage to them in their effort to deter China as a growing global superpower. Throughout the 100-year of British reign, Hong kongers who emigrated to the UK for work or study were never considered 'one of us' by the British, they have always been regarded as the outsiders who were ridiculed for their ethnic look and strong accent. In fact the earliest mockery of Chinese accent in the West came from how Cantonese or Hong Kong people sounded when they spoke English. This is also reflected in a lot of early western movies, not to mention the shady characters they have been portrayed as. I believe it's now time for people of Hong Kong to rethink/realign their identity and understand that after all these years, they are still Chinese.

Cyrus, you fully understand and describe the situation in Hong Kong during 2019 - 2020. Hong Kong was then a lawless place and vandalism was a daily routine. I was born in Hong Kong and received colonial education to distance ourselves from our mother land. I marched to the Xinhua News Agency to protest the crack down of student movement in Beijing on June 4th. But what have come to light thereafter in the past decades prove to me that China is not necessarily a bad or evil country as asserted by western countries. China is always ruthlessly attacked by western smearing campaigns and disinformation. The 2019 riot in Hong Kong fully convinced me that only our mother land will wholeheartedly stand on our side and take care of our interest. When Hong Kong faces trouble, our mother land will be at our back. Thanks Cyrus for telling the world the true story and facts about Hong Kong.

Noticed the Hong Kong protest signs had the word "Democracy" on them, written in English. That term alone is a dead give away the U.S. was instigating and supporting the protests. But, why is it the U.S. is always trying to sell other countries the idea of "Democracy", when in fact it doesn't practice it at home. Many in Hong Kong (but not all of them) tend to have the colonial mentality. In the summer of 1998, as a financial earthquake devastated Asia's economy, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government won a hard-fought battle to defend the Hong Kong dollar and Hang Seng Index (HSI) against speculative attacks led by American billionaire investor George Soros. George Soros walk away with massive losses. Backed by Beijing, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) made the controversial decision on August 14 to enter the market, buying up 118 billion HK dollars' (15 billion U.S. dollars) worth of stocks and futures in two breathtaking weeks of trading, and eventually driving out international speculators. China, have to defend and counter those elites like George Soros (finance speculators) and Rupert Murdoch (Mainstream media giant) these are evil people who are out to destroy peace, destabilize countries economy by using corporate control business and using false democracy narrative, like freedom of speech and human rights and to regime change. Joshua Wong is a hypocrate. In 2019 in an interview with the BBC he justified the rioter trashing of Hong Kong's Legislative Council building on the basis that they were not a fully elected body. The day after the interview he flew to Taiwan and was hosted by the student rioters of the Sunflower Movement who had earlier trashed Taipei's Legislative Yuan building because they were against a trade agreemenmt with mainland China. The ironic fact is that the ROC Legislature in Taipei is 100 percent elected yet Joshua Wong condoned these rioters' un-democratic actions.. What you said is true but the positive side of this is that this could lead to the eventual collapse of the hegemonic regime. I remembered a time maybe 30-40 years ago, Western culture had been very progressive. They were the first to help people struck by natural disasters around the world and they produced academicians and thinkers who were pro-Human civilization. They somehow lost it for some reasons (due to greed of their political/business elites.... etc?) which led to our current situation. Hopefully, the alternative system which would replace this blatantly unfair system, would be more humanistic because we learnt lessons to avoid such inhuman leadership (the PTB ruling the world today).

I am from Macau and his publications were some of the most read papers and magazines here as well. People here (including me), though to lesser extent, were also influenced by those publications. What Cyrus says about him and his media kingdom is absolutely correct.

Can you imagine if Tucker Carlson goes to China, and ask China to interfere in the independence movement of Texas, and ask China to use nuclear weapons on the US?

Exactly. The young leader of the so called "freedom and democracy" movement didn't condemn the violence against people who had different opinion. All he said was that his movement was new and young and was trying different "things" to advance his movement. WTF. We actually didn't even need to hear what he said. All we need to know is that the political slogan of this political movement is "die together". This political movement was not constructive, and actually was highly destructive; hence, this political movement had no future. I am very glad that they were all sent to jail.

China has 5000 years of civilization, acted very wisely with restrain. If it were to be in the USA, many of the rioters would not be here now. So for the rioters sake, there won't be a next time.

The rioters were duped with payments for specific crimes, some got paid, some didn't. They have videos of foreign agents directing the riot. But the hate involve is HK's superiority complex towards mainlanders. It's like city folks vs country bumpkins.

Just a few inconvenient truths: 1. There was no democracy during the 150 years when UK ruled Hong Kong. All senior positions were appointed by the queen. 2. Many of Hong Kong's judges were foreigners. Ask yourself how many of US or UK judges are foreigners? 3. Many Hong Kong residents did not support the demostrators. My Hong Kong friends are some of them. 4. Extradiction law are common in most countries. 5. National security laws are common in most countries. Singapore and Malaysia have Internal Security Act which the government use to put opposition people away without charges. This is the legacy from the previous UK colonial administration. US and Canada have similar laws.

What happened in Hong Kong for over a year was repeated in miniature form on January 6th at the Capital riots, the difference: the Capital riots was deemed an attack on democracy whilst the HK riots were deemed ‘a beautiful sight to behold’ If this isn’t Hypocrisy what is? Shameless
