I had no idea so much went into keeping an ambulance stocked with supplies. I guess none of this goes through your mind when you are sick or injured. Thank you for sharing this video!

I've been in many ambulances, but not one that looks like an E4 on wheels, it is the ambulances we see for any call, they gave one hell of a stressful job. God bless these men and women, let is a hard job sometomes.

Endorsed EMT's in Montana per Med Control can start and Maintain IV's, IO, obtain and tx 12 leads and ETCo2, administer a few RX, place King airways. Advanced EMT's can do a few more RX including Dextrose, Epi 1:10,000, meds for Nausea/ vomiting, CPAP, Nitrous Oxide etc.

Very nice tour. I love riding in ambulances, Road in 2 so far in my life. (For real emergencies) but it was still fun :) Great video, Favorited.

There's really not much of a difference in an ambulance configuration regardless of BLS or ALS. To keep consistency within mutual aid calls, all ambulances are relatively laid out the same. Especially when you have a medic intercept on your BLS rig. ALS ambulances typically just have the medic bag really being the only difference. That contains the medics equipment including drugs, fluids, and anything else like that. EMTs may not be able to administer drugs besides epinephrine via intramuscular route, up to 4 baby aspirin for cardiac related chest pain, oral glucose, and oxygen. However an EMT can still assist patients in taking their own nitro, albuterol treatments and assist in other things. You can make airway interventions using OPAs and NPAs, ventilating a patient, you can use CPAP. EMR is what I would consider to be a higher level of care first aid provider. This is all via National Registry standards. Now things change with your scope of practice based off of local protocols from medical control, and the state EMS office. But BLS is certainly more than just first aid. BLS saves lives instead of waiting for a medic.

in NY there is EMT-P-CC which is Critical Care Paramedic, usually for the worst trauma emergencies

@101southsideboy The 110 VAC keeps the vehicle battery's charged and any portable ALS devices as well.

@jgah123 an EMT and paramedic are the same. EMT-B is a basic EMT, EMT-P is a paramedic (aka: EMT, paramedic, or medic)

I noticed every time I see a ALS ambulance at the fire station it is always has a 110 cord pluged into it . what is the reason for ? do some of the drugs have to be refrigerated? and/or is it to make sure the ekg and the other battery operated equipment is always fully charged?

Im a basic and i can intubate, Start an iv, Push 7 different medications, and we do 12 leads where im at too. Crazy how limited you are where you are at.
@JohnSmith091239 жыл бұрын
nick cline I live in Ohio and we're just about as limited as this guy here. In the state of Ohio EMR and EMT are on the same exact ship, there's no difference between the two with their scope of practice.
@ThatDamnPandaKai8 жыл бұрын
Crazy, here basics can't do a whole lot as far as non-medication interventions (No advanced airways, no IVs) but they can pretty much give any OTC drug (as per MD protocol) and their medication they can admin is on par with an EMT-I/85 (minus D50)

+Shining Yanma I was afraid of needles too until I put my first one into a patient, now I find it fun. I'm an EMT-B, but in my state we can start I.V.'s.
@Brian37317 жыл бұрын
nick cline I'm a basic but in Iowa I can't start IV, for meds I can do O2, ASA, oral glucose, charcoal, a patients prescribed nitro or MDI, and with med control I can give a pt their nitro. we can do CPAP up to 5 and I can attach and transmit 12 lead but not "interpret". Although I try to understand rhythms to know if ALS is needed. What state are you in?

this guy is so full of himself. EMT's can do much more than basic fist aid. we can do cpap, start IV, set up and transmit EKG as well as blind intubation kind tube airways. we have 7 different live saving drugs we can give..... i can go on. he is way too proud if himself that he is als he is forgetting the importance of bls
@62ericg7 жыл бұрын
its different from state to state. In NJ EMTs are basically first responders. They recently changed the laws allowing emts to do more advanced stuff like CPAP, narcan and give epi-pens but thats about it
@JohnDoe-gg8lr7 жыл бұрын
grahamcracker62 im an emt and i can draw up epi from a vile and administer it intramuscular
@Carred207 жыл бұрын
His state probably follows NREMT guidelines and standards much like mine. EMTs can’t do much.
@wkat9505 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-gg8lr they don't restrict you to Epi-Pens? And with the patient-prescribed pen and their "assistance"? I can't believe what I read about NJ, Grahamcracker. That is way too strict. I'm for getting states to let you use Combitubes or LMA's, epi without patient assistance, narcan, aspirin, glucagol, and maybe two IV drip fluids (NACL, D5, or Ringer's). Studies today frown on too much stay-and-play and indiscriminate use of IV blood expanders so let's be cool about doing drips.

EMT =/= Ambulance Driver...ugh...
@Subreon12 жыл бұрын
EMT = emergency medical transport which is the name of the vehicle, not just the driver. it stands for the WHOLE CREW and the vehicle. don't try to be a smart arse when you don't know what you're talking about.
