Today I want to show you guys Khlong Toei which has a bad reputation for crime but has the nicest community, I just wanted to show the friendly people and interesting food and community that is hidden away from the average tourist that would visit Bangkok

Great video Tom and really enjoyed seeing the area. Good and bad people exist everywhere. Thailand is so different from the Philippines in relation to food as I watched you experience the chilli smoke. Amazing foods for sure and the common theme tonight is how welcoming and friendly asia is. I'm back to my love in northern Samar in 2 weeks time and looking forward also to the climate / culture change for sure....fricken cold here as well. My wife’s mom lives very close to that neighborhood, 5 minute walk maybe. I haven’t explored that area much but I would honestly feel much safer there than in any major city in the US where I live.

I love seeing this type of videos, and it is so clean.....no rubbish around at all what a great community feel too. Peoples homes are looked after they have pride in their environment and all are so clean.. That big house was amazing and I take it they don't own the land they are essentially squatters but choose to live there. It doesn't look lke a Phillipines slum at all which is full of rubbish, rats and smelly. Lady videographer helping you out did a great job. That lady who showed you her room was friendly, what a big baby too, , surprised it was so big, she kept it clean and had an air conditioner! It's nice, I could live there too, you would never be alone!

Every man and his dog has filmed klong Toey in recent times I don't know what everyone is expecting it's nothing how it used to be when I went down there over 30 years ago when it was fairly dangerous at night because there was alot of unemployment and alot of heroin addicts times have changed there is a soccer stadium and lots of other things there that generates money and less crime. It's safe as long as your not acting stupid common sense ❤

Yeah, back in 03 and 04 when I was in Bangkok, that place was the wild west. Police didn't like going there. Glad to see it's making a turn

Love this Tom some of these people have bettered themselves and save until they can buy land back in the countryside I have a book about my family who were romany gipsy and some had shops but it was amazing they went back to the new forest to sleep in there bendy tents and wooden wagons horse drawn. Thanks Tom . I was staying in bangkapi a flat was 300 thai baht per month but one man who done so well he had he’s lovely Mercedes and he bought two flats 500 000 per flat and made a four bedroom ground floor flat . It was basically he’s roots Tom he wouldn’t leave he bought ice cream every Sunday for the whole block of flats Tom . Yes they don’t want to move Tom my family lived in a place called red skin village they demolished it and all the romany were forced into new houses . I stayed in an apartment like that 3000 per month it was a one bed flat I was the only foreigner living there but it was real thai Tom thanks for all your hard work bless
