I was born and raised in Brooklyn, born in 1955, raised in Brownsville and East New York, spent lots of time around Canarsie. Have you ever done a deep dive into those neighborhoods? I remember as a young boy living in a 2 family house on Christopher Ave in Brownsville, the old man living downstairs had a horse and wagon in the garage/barn in the backyard. He sold vegetables in the neighborhood from his wagon. We also had guys with horse and wagons sharpening knives, collecting rags, selling watermelons, corn. Many different guys with horses and wagons in the area.

Thank you Tom for teaching us new things about New York. I look forward to every new video you post. ❤ I Sorry I've never heard of Boerun Hill before. I love learning new things from you. During the Corona years your videos kept me going that I could keep my imagination active by traveling to New York every week from my home in Helsinki ❤❤❤

Even better. The platform at Hoyt-Schermerhorn (just say skimmer-horn) where Bad was shot is not in operation. It was built during the heyday of horse racing, and used for a special line that served the Aqueduct racetrack.

This is great! My first visit (and sadly so far only) to NYC I stayed in Boerum Hill. I wish I had known about Tom's videos before I made my visit, but thankfully because of him my next one will be much more fulfilling.

Wow, how convenient to find one of your recent videos while looking for content about this neighborhood. I love your videos and even searched for the neighborhood's name hoping to find one of yours. It even gave me a little bit of hope in life. 😂😂

I always enjoy your videos, but I loved the hell outta this one. These neighborhoods of Brooklyn fascinate me, and this installment was packed with interesting bits of history and miscellaneous pop culture. All of the row houses along the tree-lined streets are so beautiful! This is a big (HUGE) ask, but I learned about the Bronx's City Island several years ago and it blew my mind. Another faithful member of the TomD Squad told me it would probably take 1/2 of the day just to get to Pelham Bay Park by train, then who-knows-how-much longer to take a bus or cab out to City Island, but I would LOVE to hear your nuggets of history and see the footage you and Cam could collect during a visit. Plus, I think it would just be an exceptionally interesting diversion from the NYC that most people envision when the city is mentioned. I'll pitch in on Venmo for funds to get out there. Hell, I'll pitch in on Venmo regardless. I love your videos! Cam was being a li'l rascal today and I loved it. 😆 Take care. ✌️✌️ Mike in SLC.
