Absolutely love my Colts. I own several - the QC can be spotty sometimes (usually cosmetic) but I’ve found their customer service to be excellent. I’d really like to see some CZ - Colt collaborations like taking another go at a polymer frame carry gun.

@justincannell1046 that is an excellent idea.

I"m perfectly happy with the accuracy that I get with parts guns that I assemble, but I dont shoot bullseye matches. If I did, I'd swage-upon the bushing to fit the slide more tightly and swage-open the muzzle of the barrel to fit the bushing more tightly., as "accurizing" 1911's. was done 60 years ago. if need be, I'd silver braze a barrel positioner into the ejection port area of the slide using heat control paste and a vise as a "heat-sink" and a mandrel in the slide rails to prevent warping of the slide. Then I'd cut the barrels lower lugs to match the slide stop. Nobody accurizes a 1911 any more. what they do is swap parts. any 12 year old girl can do that, so why would you pay a "smith" $200 an hour to do it?

Is Colt ever going to figure out how to avoid light primer strikes in double action on their new revolvers? (Hint: coiled mainsprings) Owned two Cobras and one three inch King Cobra . ALL three had random light primer strikes in double action. I run Kimbers now...

Funnily enough had that issue with the sw 19, had to adjust the hammer spring, the pythons given no issues. Was this an issue from day 1?

Last three Colts I purchased where complete crap. (1) was a SAA straight out of the custom shop, special ordered by myself. It went back 3 times, still isn't right. (2) was a stainless Compitition model 1911 in 38 Super. It's been back twice. I finally had a Wilson Combat put a barrel and bushing in it and she shoots pretty good now. (3) I purchased a new 2020 Python. Didn't even bother with the Hassel of sending it back, I sold that one. If you order or purchase a Colt to shoot and expect it to shoot half ass accurately plan on spending another 4-6 hundos to make that happen. With the 1911s I don't even think about Colt anymore, I go right to Wilson or Les Baer period. I shoot for accuracy and Colts do not perform.

the above is a load of baloney. I"ve put a dozen series 70 1911 govt' models on a maachine rest, right out of the box. ALL grouped 3" or better at 50 yds with 185 gr jswc match ammo, and most were sub 2".. That means that every last one of them can shoot better than you can under match conditions. I dont agree with paying Colt prices, but you're kidding yourself when you think" that you need them to be "accurized" This is especially true for IPSC or IDPA combat match guns. You can win the World Combat Shoot with a gun that wont group better than 6" at 50 yds, no problem at all. and probably do so with one that groups no better than 10" at 50 yds, cause under the time pressure of such matches, that sort of accuracy is all that YOU can deliver.

You must be the luckiest person on planet earth. The SAA I ordered from Colts Cutom shop. Upon arrival it would not turn the cylinder when cooking the hammer. Sent it back and was told the inside of the frame needed more machine work. Gun was sent back to me so I took it to the range and it was spitting lead in my face. Sent it back and the recut the forcing cone to a larger diameter, looks like 11degree forcing cone now. Next the cylinder stopped turning when cocking the hammer. This time they replaced the hand and hammer. Not sure why any of this had to happen on a very expensive gun but it did. Next firearm I purchased was from an authorized Colt dealer. It was a Stainless Steel "Competition Series " full sized (5inch) 1911 with the match grade barrel in 38 Super. After a few weeks I got it out to the range. Best I could do was 8 out of 10 on an actual paper plate from 20 yards. A but better off a sandbag rest. I checked the firearm and discovered I could move the barrel in the bushing with my finger. So I sent it back. Colt replaced the barrel but not the bushing. I field stripped the gun and found "chatter" marks up and down inside the barrel. Sent it back and again Colt replaced the barrel, this time they stated the bushing fit met thier "standards". I still was able to wiggle the barrel all over inside the bushing and also found I could puch the top of the barrel completely out of lockup buy pushing with my fingers on the top of the barrel downward near the hood. At this time I called Colt and was told they would not pay for shipping back to them and thier records indicated the gun was within speck. So this left me with one option as I couldn't or wouldn't in good conscience sell this gun to anybody. This is when Wilson Combat fitted the gun with a new barrel and bushing. The 2020 Python I also purchased from an authorized dealer. First time on the range using factory ammunition it was only setting off 60 percent of the rounds. I tried 3 different manufacturers with the same results. I at this point really didn't want to deal with Colt anymore so I sold the new Python as is and stick with my 1974 Python, which I purchased new. I have since purchased a couple of Les Baers as well as a Wilson Combat 1911. If you need the "proof" I do have all the repair slips from Colt as well as the SAA and Competition Series 1911. I'd be more than happy to share them on this media channel for everybody's viewing pleasure.

Oh and concerning my SAA, it hasn't had 50 rounds down the pipe yet. I've owned it for 3 or so years. I guess or it's supposed to be fixed know. I just never shoot it. Probably sell it soon as prices are real good now. It is one beautiful looking SAA.

I am on the fence about that. I like the Jade a lot but I also like the understand SAA. Hard for me to pick a favorite.

Personally I lost respect for colt when they stopped producing for civilians to do military contracts. I know that's where the money is, but don't quit on the civilians that support you at the same time.
@rangehot3 ай бұрын
@TTiger86268 Colt never stopped producing for civilians. When that rumor was started Colt and Colt Defense were two different companies. Colt sold only to the civilian market and Colt Defense was military only.
