Inside Demo: NEC D3772 - 331MB Hard Drive from 1992

This is an inside view of the NEC D3772. It can't run hdmotion very well, but it demonstrates the issues this example has quite well.
I have another one of these on the way, which is supposedly fully working, so expect a more in-depth video on one of these in the future.

Wow that was a tough run of hdmotion. Still really interesting to see nonetheless. Like others have said, I absolutely love the internal design! Need to get myself an NEC!

Yeah, it's a really pretty drive inside! NEC had some incredibly interesting models, so I wish you the best of luck in getting one! Definitely a nice addition to your collection I'd say :)

Oh wow, looks like it's gotten a lot worse compared to when you showed it on discord a few months ago. Hopefully the second one will turn out fine :)

Yeah, when I filmed this I was quite surprised when hdmotion stopped working entirely. I hadn't touched this drive since I opened it when you saw it on discord, so I suppose it was closer to failure than I expected. Hopefully the next one is good like you say, if it survives shipping that is!! The NEC lottery sure can be cruel.

Unfortunate loss this time....at least we got to see the self-test it does! I wonder what models the higher capacity one's are, and what your ratio of working NECs to dead one's are : ((

Yeah it's really sad :( To be honest, my ratio is probably about 3:1 dead to working. It's, well, terrible for my wallet!
