Cairo, Egypt - After a 9-hour drive from Siwa Oasis, Egypt we arrived back to bustling Cairo to take the overnight sleeper train from Cairo Station to Aswan, Egypt.
Siwa Oasis was incredible, one of my favorite places to go in Egypt, but the wild 48 hours left exhausted and ready for a long train journey to sleep, haha!
I should tell you, there is a much quicker and easier way to get to Aswan - via an 1 hour and 20 minute flight that’s roughly the same cost of this train ticket; around $80 US Dollars or about $1,400 Egyptian Pounds - one way. But, we figure the train also saves us the cost of a night stay, and two meals. Plus, it’s just a lot more fun.
*Also, you can take the same train to Luxor if you don't want to go all the way to Aswan. The overnight sleeper train from Cairo actually stops at Luxor Station first before arriving in Aswan.
The overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan is supposed to be a 12-hour journey, but it very often departs late from Cairo and arrives late to Aswan (which is exactly what happened to us).
We booked our tickets at the Cairo Train station in-person a few days in advance. There are websites that say you can book online, but honestly, I didn't trust the information. I would rather go to the Cairo Train Station and book the train ticket directly.
Overall, the overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan was very relaxing and stress-free. The only advice I would give is to ask around at the Cairo train station before boarding to ensure you are getting on the right train.
That's it! If you have any questions about this trip, please leave a comment and I will be happy to help!
I hope you all loved this Egypt Travel Vlog from here in Cairo, Egypt as much as we did making it! ❤️ If so, please hit that "👍" button, and leave a comment!
See ya next week!

I’m glad you got to try out the sleeper train! It’s something that I don’t usually recommend unless travelers have a lot of time on their hands (since it’s so easy to fly and the sleeper train is fairly expensive), but it is a cool way to experience traveling by rail in Egypt.

As an Egyptian seeing tourists prefer the sleep train to the airplane just beats me. A bullet train track will finish in 2024 where the trip would take 4 hours. That could be a choice, but taking the soviet style train over the plane is weird.

@perra5910
@perra5910 2 жыл бұрын
@@nataliajimenez1870 sleeper trains cost a tad cheaper than an airplane ticket. Don’t know if you’ve been in one those flights in coach but it’s not like most passengers are millionaires or sth. Other point is that i find most tourists/vloggers show one side of Egypt, i know to them it’s like the “exotic” part but it’s getting really repetitive, everyone goes to the same places and do the same things and it makes Egypt looks much smaller and monotonous than it actually is. Egypt is about the the scope and contrast more than being just another exotic country you know ? I.e the 5000 year old pyramids is right next to 6th october city which is a 30 yro city that was nothing but desert and now it’s bustling with life and housing hundreds of thousands if not millions of people and not only Egyptians but Syrians, Iraqis, Jordanians, sudanese and Ethiopians. It’s got 8 lane highways, modern buildings two of the biggist shopping malls in Africa and several international universities. I wish they could show the universality of Egypt and how the old meets the new and rich meets the poor, the scope and grandness of grater cairo being made up of 100km of urban extensions instead of just showing the repetitive 20km strip from the pyramids to islamic cairo passing through a tiny part of downtown. Most of these vids just miss on 80% of cairo.
