It's recognized as one of the greatest restaurants in the world: Le Bernardin, founded in Paris 50 years ago, and now based in New York City. Chef and co-owner Eric Ripert talks with correspondent Martha Teichner about how running a restaurant with three Michelin stars is an extension of his approach to life: aiming to make a difference.

I was fortunate enough to have the privilege of working with Chef Eric Ripert for several years. He is much more than a chef or mentor. This is a lifestyle. He taught me way more about life than food.

This is a man who is at peace with himself and knows what is important in life. Yes, he is the chef of a world-famous restaurant, but he sees the world as a whole and does his part to make this world better.

Bravo 👏 👏 I tried to get Pizza Hut (my job in the early 90's) to send their waste to the womens shelter in town. I got 51 reasons why they couldn't do that. I would like to see more places do this. So many hungry people that could benefit
@leapintothewild

Ditto a grocery store I worked for ... their reasoning was that if someone got sick from the food, they would get sued. That's also the reason why when rotisserie chickens, food on the hot bar, etc., hit the 4 hr mark, they all go in the trash. Fear of lawsuits, the definition of America.
@susannpatton2893
@susannpatton2893 Жыл бұрын
@@leapintothewild my answer to that was they could sign a waiver. I had responsible responses and still got a brick wall
@leapintothewild
@leapintothewild Жыл бұрын
@@susannpatton2893 Nope, lots of non-profits had ideas like that, but lawsuits win over everything, and corps like Kroger, Walmart etc aren’t going to take the chance - esp since they can just write off the loss when food expires. Money for the shareholders and exec bonuses win. Period.

I ate at Le Bernardin in 1998, and it was spectacular, but after visiting so many places in the world, It is not a three Michelin star it's a two Michelin star. He gets everything from the markets around him, and he gets the star from the french critics but there a many places that cultivate their ingredients in their gardens and have one or not Michelin stars, so, to me it's biased. Besides, French people are very biased against others. I also love how this reporter uses her charming, almost English accent to divert us from reality. Sound English doesn't make you smarter Martha Teichner.

I'm genuinely bothered. I have been. These restaurant influencers, one after another of the world's wealthiest situation, abled bodied strong rich people eating a once in a lifetime meal. If it's really good people that don't get much chance to try things should be there too. Where i was working though all there was is strong beer that would exhaust a diaper

Yawn. Giving people worms with all their weird raw fish nonsense. Went in 1999 at the top of the world starry event and was non plussed. Even though it was one of the starriest nights of my life. I think the legend creates that even if the menu is brittle and strange. Whatever it was before the brother died, it changed. You would think that sister would have learned English by now.
