I had no idea how those switches worked. Thank you for explaining it!

Really good explanation. A lot of submersible pumps have this same sensor directly wired to the pumps by the manufacturer.

perfect thanks, my float dies in a sewer pump unfortunatly lol i was going to try to bypass the float temporarily with a light switch so i can drain the tank and replace the pump at a later date when i can afford it, it should only damage the light switch by not using a contactor right it wont damage the pump?

This switch is only for on/off negative ground. It does not move voltage through it in the case your submersible pump may require the switch to move power through it. Make sure before you purchase this very common replacement float switch.

Can you run a switch like that with 12V?
@electreca13 жыл бұрын
Switches are rated with current not voltage. you must know how much current your circuit will draw, for you to rate the switch.
@projector71418 ай бұрын
Those microswitches in general can even switch 1v, when they are new. Depending on how the contacts inside corrode, it might need 12V after a few years. But since it is sealed, the corrosion should be minimal.
