This area is indeed in the middle of nowhere, far from civilization. I can understand why you like this line so much. Nature is very nice here. Dense forests on both sides, cool trestle and nifty hills. The snaking train looks fantastic from the air. The Ferromex unit is a nice little bonus. Lucky catch Dan, we're fortunate you were at the right place at the right time.

Thaank you, Dan, for this video of a BNSF manifest train snaking its way along t BNSF Gateway Subdivision in northeast California. I enjoyed watching the train coming down the the grade and then going up the grade as it passed the Little Valley Siding. Your trip to this area of Northeaster n California provided us with some splendid drone views. (Posted on 23 November 2024 at 1633 CST.)

Great video, Dan, love the perspective your drone can capture. I've explored that area a little - been in to Halls Flat a couple times and waited a long time for a train that I heard, also for a long time. The line seems to reward being able to fly and get above the topography, as you have so wonderfully done, Thank you!

Wow-what an interesting area. In our motorhome days we traveled all the highways circling the Little Valley but never ventured in. I’m also thinking about the remoteness of the area and hopefully a train line will never break-long hike for the conductor. This is certainly a line where the engineer has to really be sharp on train handling. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like you found the perfect spot to capture so much footage without having to relocate your vehicle. And because you have the drone, you can go high enough and far enough away from where you are to capture so much great footage. When that Feromex started blowing that black soot on the accent, I was reminded of a boat in the harbor in Tijuana that even in the dark of night, you could see the dark cloud of the diesel engine exhaust. I guess that it would be too costly to hire a former navy diesel engineer to maintain those locomotive engines so that all you would see is the heat vapor.

Someday I'll head down there and check things out. I still haven't made it to the end of the Modoc line to see if that long line of locomotives are still there or not, and I want to just explore the region east and south of K falls in general. Thank you for sharing these spectacular views as always Dan! I can see why you love that area so much!

There's a lot more that goes on in "watching" a Railfan Dan production. I like following along on Google satellite too, bouncing back and forth from Google Maps to Railfan Dan. Also, I find it fun to play "Find Railfan Dan" or "Find Railfan Dan's car!" I found both at 5:46
