I am from Brazil and I knew little about the Hong Kong freedom and independence movement... until now. This documentary is very important to show us all that things like freedom of expression, human rights and self-determination of peoples are inalienable and non-negotiable values of a people, and that they must always be defended and maintained, a fight with vigilance and constancy, so that democratic values are not lost over time. Go, Hongkongers!

As a russian person watching this, I am so proud that there are people out there fighting against their authoritarian goverments. HongKongers do it in such a powerful and coordinated way. We use TG as well but unfortunately FSB tracks people quite quickly and you can get in prison for 15 years even for placing a small 'No War' sticker. We feel trapped and unfortunately are completely disjointed and fragmented as a society. Very proud of your the movement. Freedom to Hong Kong. Freedom to Ukraine. Freedom to all states under the authoritarian rule.

There are good and evil in all countries. USA is no better. Credit Score affecting public perception, confusion built into every system, tireless programs and propaganda placing perfect imagery over true love for us and those near us. No choice but to be different and close ourselves off from the grand scheme. Backed into a corner we are forced into a feeling of hiding as if we do not deserve sun and sky. No wonder why no workers want to fill all the job vacancies.

They missed the other pov that initially supported the protestors and even marched with them, but they become domestic terrorists who blocked buses, trains, assaulted people with the aim of grinding the city to a halt. The public VERY FAST turned on them so when the NSL was introduced the general public welcomed it. Just like with BLM, once you mess with peoples daily lives, you rapidly lose support.

This movement acted as a huge eye opener for the rest of the world in regards to china's duplicity. It also served as an inspiration to many others on how and why fight tyranny. It may take a very long time but Hong Kong will recover and prevail as freedom and liberty always triumph...historical fact, nothing can change that, ever... Respect to Hong Kong for standing up !! The young ppl shouldn't think that they should live like those finicial center yong ppl in US/UK, since US/UK are taking advantage of the whole planet, and they have almost no ppl to take advantage of. In other words, this is partly a direct result of US/UK influence. And also, this is a finicial center, the seeds were led by the money the rich brought, with all the unrest in the world that money caused over the dacades, they not only need to face the lack of basic social essential production, they also face the foreigners who does no basic work to drain the city's rescourses. What they need is to do more work and rational thinking, prepare for the reality that this kind of life style will go down quickly with the devaluing of money, they need to try to co-exist with each other or find a better place to live a productive and fulfulling life. Fighting in this way is only losing, brings more uneasiness to the life in the city in total. There might be another explanation, is ppl already see no way out, and want to have some fun, but they don't have yards, not enouhh beach space. The west might also funded this. So many factors, they all play a part, the uncontinurous of life is the ultimate reason.

The worst thing is to imagine that democracy and freedom come without a fight. When you have one, you can't imagine life without it. However, tyrannical regimes tend to crush and limit those liberties to establish solid rule where only their will is present. Citizens must be vigilant warriors. Otherwise, nihilism will win and authoritarianism will emerge.

But one point, I could said that people in US doesn’t mean they know much about politics, world history, conflicts and international visions, that’s the point why you think that the US government can do whatever they want, if you are talking about rights, first you should have a higher level of discipline, second, do you really think majority of people in democratic state are knowledgeable to supervise the government and ensure they are on the right tacks in their policies, obviously I don’t think people spend time on that, people in free state mainly spent time for their own lives, that’s why things got changing unless it turn bad enough to let you realise. As an American, I was deeply touched by the Hongkongers flying the American flag. I feel they look up to and respect American democracy and freedom, and the fight we put up to gain that. That struggle that has been lost on many Americans, that many are content with letting our freedoms go, without any question or fight. I was most deeply touched by "The Daughter. To see the division in her family over this issue, that both bare doing the right thing. As a father of a daughter, it struck me to my heart to think of us being divided. Maybe I felt this more as I've been involved in law enforcement for most of my adult life, and unless my daughter was committing morally illegal acts, I feel I would have to defend my flesh and blood first, before the state. I haven't heard much of the struggle in Hong Kong lately, due to other world events. I pray that the fight continues, and for the success of the people of Hong Kong.

Having been there photographing some of these events when it first started in 2014 brought back a lot of memories. Its a shame what HK has become because of the authoritarian regime trying to force the people to kneel to them and follow their rules. So much for the no change for 50 years, although for those of us woke enough, we always knew that was never going to be the case as the big C would never let that happen once they gained control as they have now proven.

@Chatsta the protests here in Hong Kong were the most successful when they were using non-violent tactics such as non-cooperation and civil disobedience. the beginning of the end came when the situation became more violent and the government had an excuse to itself use more violence and paint the protesters as dangerous extremists, helping to sway public opinion. if the citizens were armed in HK, and fighting back with weapons, there would be a proportional response from China by bringing in the People's Liberation Army. And then we'd have another Tiananmen Square. Just as American Second Amendment fans would be wiped out if they actually tried to take on the US Army. It's a no-win situation for anyone. I love how the solution to any problem from the US is simple: more guns

They know that even despite being SAR of mainland, the judiciary system is autonomous under total control of HK. This allows a free and fair judgement of all its citizens.
