Paul, good to have you back. I have the jacket, mainly because I will be using it as an outer in the Spring, Summer and early Autumn and as a layering piece for when it is colder. It is excellent and I think that I will be switching to this type of jacket for active use rather than a soft shell.

I've recently bought 5 Cirrus Flex tops, including a couple from Trekitt, in various colours/versions/generations, before ever purpusefully wearing any of them. And probably won't now until autumn. I'm suddenly wondering if the fleece side panels make them an odd proposition. Does it give rise to needing to wash them more frequently than desirable, or required for all-round insulated jackets? I can see how a wash after an active holiday would be justified. But for something like winter commuting, would they end up quickly feeling like they needed a wash? I consider myself a relatively odour-free body, fortunately. But I can't imagine wearing the same fleece for more than a week's commute. I'm keeping them all still. Love the look.
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
Hmm, possibly but not a noticeable amount more. Quite a few of us have had either this exact product or one very similar and unless sweating heavily, the fabric doesn't tend to gunk up or discolour. That being said, the Flex is designed for more active use than a 'normal' insulated jacket, so naturally you might be perspiring into it more.

Would you liken this to and atom LT? I do like the look of these not sure if I need one given that I have an atom LT. That being said. You can never have too many jackets

This is very similar to an Atom LT in terms of performance and fit. But, like you say, you can never have too many jackets! Paul.

Looks to me that the Montane Icarus stretch jacket and the Rab Cirrus flex are very similar. A video that compares them together would be very interesting.
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
They are indeed very similar, the biggest difference is in the fit. Rab has a more regular fit whilst Montane is a trimmer fit. Thanks for watching. Paul.

Thank you for this great review (one more). I have a big dilemma, would consider buying this rab or the Montane prism ? And which one is the hotter according to your real test ?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
There’s not much in it as far as warmth is concerned, but the Prism has better weather resistance due to less stitching on the outer. Thanks for watching. Paul

Hi Paul, I wonder whether Cirrus Flex will perform the same as Microlight Alpine in terms of warmth? Any thoughts perhaps?
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
Yeah, very similar in warmth; main difference is the Microlight is more packable and the Cirrus will deal with moisture better.

Good review! Re. the fit, do you think it would go over a baselayer and mid weight fleece, or would it be wise to size up?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kirsten, there's no need to size up for regular layers. If you need extra warmth you cam always throw an bigger jacket over the top. Thanks for watching. Paul.

It all depends on what you're doing. If you are just standing around it wont be warm enough, if you are working hard and carrying additional insulation, then it'll be OK.

Would you say this is more of an Autumn/Spring jacket? I'm looking for something warm for Winter. Not sure what to go for

You could use it pretty much all year round depending on where you're using it in your layering system, how fast you're moving and which activities you're doing. Harry

For down to what temperature would a kind of warm person wear this while walking comfortably? Like with a t-shirt underneath.
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
It's a hard one to answer as it depends on so many factors. Anywhere between -5°C and 15°C, depending on activity level, windchill, how warm you are as a person, even how much you've had to eat. Harry

I'm 5ft 11 and have a 39 inch chest. Shall I go for a medium or large?

I have a Rab Nexus fleece with a super snug fit, really comfortable and traps in as much heat as it can but I really can't stand the pilling on the fabric. Does the side panels and stretchy areas on this jacket pill as well?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
We've not had any feedback about the fabric pilling yet. Pilling generally occurs when the fabric is abraded by rucksack straps, climbing harnesses, etc, but since the stretch is positioned under the arms, I'd like to think it's unlikely that it'll become damaged. Harry
@ozgurcelik143 жыл бұрын
@@trekitt Thanks for that, fleeces should come with a hard face as standard imo, it's disappointing to have a garment that looks over a year old after one wash as with the Rab Nexus. I went for the non-fleece Montane Prism jacket to try out instead, great UK brand.

i dont like these thinner non windproof panels that brands are using on the sides now adays. i think arc and berghaus have their own version. these panels means the jacket is simply too warm for the intended activity. you know a really old tech that works really well for venting? HOLES bloody holes that could be closed by zips or velcro. any other time i want breathability but maximum warmth not cold patches on the sides.
