But to my point, no one knows what Zach is capable of besides Zach and his current coaches. He's only played basketball for 7 years, not 15 or 20 years like most kids have when they enter the draft... and look at how far he's progressed already.

I think for edey to be successful in the nba is if he proves that he can atleast move his feet in the perimeter when being switched out there. Hes mobility on defense is the key for him in the nba.

There are two discussion that intertwine and confuse the issue. Is he a dominant college player who will succeed at college level? Absolutely and 100% yes. Will that dominance, will his type of basketball translate into today's NBA game? That is debatable. You can compare Edey with Boban Marjanovic. Same height, similar skill set. Marjanovic was an amazing finisher around the rim shooting an insane percentage. His lack of footspeed and agility made him a liability on defense and limited his usefulness to teams. That could well be the fate of Edey.

@@benj3911 have you ever watched a full Purdue game? If a guy makes it past him for a layup he lets it go usually because he knows how it will be perceived if he swats at it. He purposely doesn’t foul so he can stay in the game. I’m sure there’s a missed call here and there, but anytime he’s gotten rough it’s because the whole game had gotten rough a long time ago. In fact, that’s part of the opposing strategy (hasn’t really worked) to see if they can goad Zach into getting a bit emotional and upset.

He will certainly get some minutes somewhere, have you thought that maybe the reason he doesn’t step more than 5 feet away from the basket is because he doesn’t need to? He can shoot the ball from distance he has a great shot. But why would he in a game at the college level where all he has to do is stay under the basket to dominate. His mobility and endurance for being 7’4” 300lbs is fcking insane. It’ll be an adjustment for him but he’ll get minutes.

@rayrey90 He is playing how the team is built and where he is needed. When you watch Jokic play, most of his production is feet from the rim. He can make other shots, but they are less common. Watching Edey's footwork, he has come a long way in 6 years of playing basketball. His times at Pro Day were reported to be neck and neck with KD's before entering the NBA. I think people are too quick to judge and don't know what they are talking about most of the time.

The game has changed, he's not a rim runner, he can't shoot the three, he can't facilitate, and he averages over 11 FTA PER GAME. He will not get those calls in the NBA. Edey will maybe get drafted late second round, average 6 pts 5 rbs 1 block per game for a year or two then bounce around the G League.
