As a black dude I can tell you that when I moved here from NYC in 2018 I used to enjoy the craziness of south beach during the holidays. That feeling lasted about a year , now you couldn’t pay me to go hang out on the main strip especially during any holiday. The last time I was there it was for 4th of July 2021 and I felt disgusted. People treat the city like shit with trash everywhere, shooting guns in the air, and overall leading to everyone being punished for these idiots with no life and their selfishness. The main issue is the people causing all the drama aren’t from here. They hop on a cheap spirit flight, share one room at a hotel, maybe rent a nice car just to ride around drunk the entire night. I think the only way to get it to stop is Jack prices up, the curfews and extra police the city has tried is a temporary solution.

I am a Miamian and no self respecting Miami resident goes to South Beach by choice. For beaches we either go to Ft Lauderdale or more north, or go to the west : Naples, Bonita Beach, Marco Island, etc. Its so ghetto in South Beach and Downtown Miami. I'll never understand why tourists have it down as a must see when they come to south Florida. I'll defend my city with any foreigner if they ever talked bad about Miami but I must say, its far from the glamor they show on TV. That's not real! I've seen things like this happen in other cities where I lived. At first the party street is real cool for a a few years and then it goes downhill. I think that some of the businesses are to blame. I notice that the business flavor changes. It starts with chain stores but then locals start opening cheap pizza joints, smoke shops, sneaker stores, etc. So it doesn't really cost that much to handout down there anymore. This brings in a whole different type of crowd ... very young and very urban. I work with several party promoters from time to time and they have gone to a strict 30 and over for their events. They don't get the perfect upscale crowd but it looks like more than half of the trouble makers are gone just by raising the age. I remember when 18 was an adult, now they don't start maturing until 30 ....

Row out to the Haulover Sandbar, and hit the good boats. Hundreds of boats out there, and do much fun. Next, hit Hollywood Beach. Best family beach in South Florida. Being a native Miamian, I found it very interesting to hear the way Miami Beach was described in this video; especially, the use of Mid-Beach. The northern parts of the beach does have more than just homes, but it is mostly residential; great Beaches, also! South Beach is mostly tourist and Miami Dade County residences that's aren't Miami Beach locals. No one from Miami actually go to South Beach on non eventful days. What is being called Mid Beach; which is really just Miami Beach, is the actual beach that I would say locals use. I personally like this beach and Haulover Beach, which is the northern part of the area. I think this is a good look at the beach as a whole though.

We‘ve been to Miami regularly with the first time being in 1989. Back then it was a retirement spot which had a very relaxed atmosphere. We saw a lot of construction on the Art Deco district that year. In the years later South Beach was just magic. Every evening of our holidays we went to the News Cafe where a mix of interesting people were having a good time. It really felt a lot like Miami Vice. In the early 2000s things seemed to have changed to be much more commercial, however still being pleasant with a nice vibe and we always felt safe with our young kids. We’ve just been in Miami Beach again this April and were very disappointed what has happened to South Beach. The magic feeling is almost gone and it’s just a stupid noisy party. We felt safe and it’s still beautiful, but somehow it’s a different place now. Where did the old stylish South Beach go? And News Cafe - the iconic restaurant on Ocean Drive - has been closed. Looking at recent reviews before closing its quality seemed to had changed to the worse. It’s really sad - but still it’s a nice place for holidays when you read Google Maps reviews before going out for dinner there.

A set of wheels wasn't a Corvette or Porshe but a folding shopping cart to take to Publix supermarket. For variety we had some petty criminals including small time drug dealers. I hate Miami Beach and Hollywood Beach. These places used to be beautiful, now its dirty, noisy and full of creepy people who only want to get drunk. the property is too damn expensive, there is never any parking and there's always somw kind of petty crime or drama.

And yes, the city of South Beach is trying their best to remove rift-raft from causing issues. We shall see because the bars really are fighting against it. However, it gets real crazy on Memorial Day and Spring Break. Other weekends it’s a bit more calm.

I live in area and anyone I know does not go to this beach because it’s not easy to get to unless you are staying on beach. Parking is expensive and not plentiful so unless you get there really early you can forget about it. The area is crowded and unless you are very young and good looking you stick out like a sore thumb. Locals go up to beaches in Fort Lauderdale, west palm beach, treasure coast beaches or around Naples. When it rains a lot of streets will flood because drainage system in place was not meant for all development that is there now. This means all the people who pay top dollar to live along beach and in one of many many high rises, will find there parking garage flooded along with streets. I would be very pissed if I were paying top dollar to live there meanwhile the streets flood, the parking garages flood plus the unruly crowds the constant traffic and noise oh hell no I wouldn’t put up with that

The biggest problem South Beach have is the alcohol laws, the bad crowd comes to Miami Beach because of the open container laws in public allows them to walk around with drinks everywhere and the last call for alcohol is at 6am. The bad crowd will keep coming to Miami Beach to act as fool and crazy for as long as the alcohol laws stay the same.
@Utubedeletescomments2 жыл бұрын
Yea, it's called freedom. Most of the world does the same , the difference in the United States is that you can only drink till 6am in like 4 cities so of course everyone is going to flock to Miami, Nyc, Vegas . If it were legal to drink till 6am all over the United States and at 18 ( like the rest of the world ) alcohol wouldn't be such an issue with Americans.
@christianmendez82992 жыл бұрын
@@Utubedeletescomments Back home in Puerto Rico the legal age for dinking alcoholic drinks is 18, it's okay to drink in public, gas stations are allowed to sell alcoholic beverages 24 hours, but most bars and festivities stop the sale of alcoholic beverages at midnight. In Puerto Rico loud music isn't permitted after midnight. Miami Beach is a multicultural city and they welcome everyone to have a great time but it's time to stop all the madness. Loud music should be banned, open container alcoholic drinks in public should be banned, and last call for alcohol should be at 2Am.

Florida native here. One major thing to consider about miami beach that I didn't see in the video is how much it floods. I know the city is trying to help the problem but long term I don't know how they'll solve the problem without building a sea wall. You are better off in broward imo. shout out to coral springs.
@vincentgoupil1802 жыл бұрын
Noticed at 28:05 he couldn't finish saying " storm ... *surge* ". Surge being the resulting flood waters after a hurricane goes by. 20 foot sea wall or no sea wall, i.e. Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans. In Florida highway AIA is build like a dike with a higher slope towards the ocean. Once the water starts coming over the top its Led Zeppelin's "When the Levy Breaks". Even without a hurricance Miami Beach being about three feet above sea level and flat, flooding is always a consideration.

Flex culture on social media really messed it up for South Beach. In 2020 once influencers started traveling and posting about going to South Beach I noticed everyone else wanted to follow. South Beach became the place where you could feel like you went out of the country when you didn't due to the tropical vibes. That and spring break along with memorial day weekend which I vowed to never go to again after going once during college and that was like 10 years ago. As a miami native I definitely don't touch South Beach unless absolutely necessary. Just the prices enough made me laugh because I saw how much tourists get ripped off. Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale are a much more chill vibe. Oh and if you want to see nice houses Golden Beach is a beautiful area. Oh and also for Hispanic population and especially Cubans have for the most part has always voted conservative.

The entire stste of Florida is a freakin mess.i moved here in 1971 from Long Island NY . Tampa was a very nice quiet city in those days and it started to change in the late 1980s. we always get the same reasons for why people move here to Florida taxes are low, no state income taxes, sun and fun, great fishing. lack of taxes will show you what you get for your money, no transportation systems at all in the bigger cities, an overburdened school system, tax dollars used to support private schools, you want your kids to go to private schools you pay for it out of your own pocket.there is no affordable housing for young people just starting out or for seniors. this place is turning into a state where only the rich will be able to live. and yes crime is on the rise that's no suprise at all. here in Florida we need to get our act together real soon.
